Rep. Clyburn on Super Committee Appointment: What a Great Opportunity to Redistribute Some Wealth!

By Doug Powers  •  August 14, 2011 11:56 AM

**Written by Doug Powers

Not-so-bold prediction: History will record this “Super Committee” plan as the worst “great idea” to come from Washington since their last great idea.

Mitch McConnell has said Republicans on the Committee should be open to compromise, all six Democrats on the Committee earned an “F” from the National Taxpayers Union, and Rep. Jim Clyburn plans to use his seat to close the wealth gap. What could possibly go wrong?

Rep. James Clyburn (S.C.) said the recent debate over slashing spending and reducing deficits has all but ignored the toll those cuts could exact on lower income folks, particularly in minority communities. Clyburn – the third-ranking House Democrat and a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) – is vowing to use his perch on the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction to tackle the nation’s enormous wealth gap.

The US is well over $14 trillion in the hole in part due to dandy schemes over the past few years and decades to “tackle the nation’s wealth gap,” which if anything has made America increasingly gappy, and now a member of the ironically titled deficit reduction committee thinks it’s a grand opportunity to do the same things all over again? Sounds good — we’ll just sit back now and wait for the “deficit reductions” to roll in.

Exactly. Everybody knows the best way to stimulate the economy and create jobs for the poor is with unemployment checks!

Scumbag democrats are too willing to steal from Peter to give to Paul. Peter will move and Paul becomes a cripple.

Failure is built in to this committee. It is just a way to cement the meme that Republicans won’t compromise so long as they are under the control of a small group of Tea Party radicals. This is a bipartisan script that “both” parties have signed off on.

Don’t be surprised though if non-budgetary recommendations come out of this commissariat, like gun control, amnesty, and other issues that cannot survive the “messiness” of the democratic process.

Here is where we stand with our entrenched criminal of elected weasels. We know they are lying. They know we know that they are lying. But instead of telling the truth, they become even more strident in insisting that they are lying to us for our own good and we should just “shut up and eat your peas”.

By creating this commissariat, all they did was compartmentalize the mess and export it somewhere else so they can focus on other things, like not repealing ObamaCare.

Wealth distribution should start with the libs and rinos who demand it. How much can be coughed up by eliminating their perks, cut their budgets and staff by, at least, half. How about cutting their own salaries too? And I think I’m being generous in only cutting by half. How much time do they really work? From what I see, not much, by their results.

I think it clear that Obama’s entire political goal was redistribution. He and his cronies had some bizarre idea that they could empty the public treasury into the hands of their Democratic constituents and bankrupt what they perceived as Republican constituents at the same time. A typical Chicago spoils system. Creating a permanent dynasty as we have seen in cities throughout America. The fact that these cities are cesspits of corruption, inefficiency, crime, and ignorance seemed a small price to for Obama. Those problems are caused by white people who need to pay. And thus Clyburn’s delirium.

As I said at the time this “agreement” was hatched, this commission is designed to fail. It will provide cover for all the Congress critters who are not on the commission and the President.

When it fails, as it surely must, they will all say, “well, we tried, but they just couldn’t get it done” before the penalties kick in. Then either the penalties will go in effect, or the Congress will have to alter the original legislation that was passed.

If either side gives in on this commission, it will represent total defeat. That’s why we have gridlock in our Congress. The only cure is taking over the Congress and the White House in 2012.

So the person who thinks islands tip over gets a seat on a super committee. Brains are really working over time in DC.
The point of redistributing anything is to destroy wealth and the incentive for creating it. One might as well burn it in the street instead of sending it down the poverty rat hole. “Big gov produces small people”, (M. Steyn). Income redistribution is just another drug for the population. If it were the way to prosperity, then Soros would be gaining power by handing out his money instead of sucking it out of every household’s earnings and investments. The biggest money thieves are the same ones who propose that the rest of us aren’t doing our fair share. It is kind of difficult to do anything when the DC money grubbers keep stealing money for social programs which only work to kill the country. This new committee’s mandate is to pillage the remaining wealth in the country. Soros’s hand in the stock market volatility will destroy all retirement plans and corporate holdings.

Robert Heinlein said, ” Thought history, poverty is the normal condition on man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded – here and there, now and then – are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or as sometimes happens, driven out of a society, the people slip back into abject poverty.”

The Soros funding of the DC crap has crushed the creativity of this country. It is time to return the favor.

Aww, gee. C’mon. I think we here are a tad too unforgiving and perfectionist. — especially of Republican House leadership.

This “Committee” of 12 is non-Constitutional, has no underlying law of authority… and will come out in the wash as a big talk factory. A chance to win a few cheap points, especially to fog up the horrible performance by Dems in Congress and certainly by Nobama. A smokescreen, purely.

Oh ye of short memories, Boehner actually is a Conservative. He cried the night he became Speaker? Sure, and are there men who cry at funerals and weddings? I remember practicing my Father-of-the-Bride Speech/Toast for the mirror and cried every time. I held it together at the actual reception, just. Boehner tried to mention his late father — who never saw his son from such humble beginnings reach the peak of his career as a legislator. Maybe he wears his emotions on his sleeve. And so? That make him less of a man or as a legislator?

He is a sinner– smokes too much and actually plays golf, bet he doesn’t cheat like Slick Willy did.

Well, he was one of 11 kids who had to work as a kid and took 7 years to get his B.A. (in business Admin.) because he had to work to afford tuition. First ever in his family to go to college. He is 61 and I don’t know him or have anything to do with Ohio or him. He married just once at 24, still is — same woman, they have two daughters. He worked for a small business (plastic packaging) and worked his way up to be its president. He ran for Congress in 1990. Oh, and I see in Wickipedia he was a high school linebacker for coach Gerry Faust who later was Notre Dame’s head coach.

Liberal? I think not. Remember if you are old enough the Gang of Seven in 1991, just before the first Republican Revolution. Bomb throwers like the young Gingrich (not him now). They shamed the House with the House Bank Scandal exposed; House Restaurant; especially House Post Office scandal. Toppled a Dem. Speaker — Tom Foley defeated by Republicans in his home district. Boehner was a top lieutenant to the New Repub. House — entered leadership.

Led the Federal Marriage Act, opposed ANY special rights for homosexuals, incl. military. Pro business and small business voting record. Member of Select Intelligence Com. — strong record on Nat. Security.

_Never_ attached any Earmarks for his own district in Ohio. Not associated with pork projects. Recently led the fight against cap and trade, and for the group of things to balance the budget. His House passed a strong budget, first such bill in the House or Senate for years… and it sits there still on a Senate shelf… not the fault of Republican leadership. That’s really the only bill they needed to pass. It is perhaps naive to think the House could do much more, substantively. Are they sometimes snookered on small political issues/ Sure. As the old adage goes: Politics ain’t beanbag. A majority of one House; lacking the Senate and the Presidency, and many judges, and most Press … I think Boehner and gang have done pretty well, and most are actual conservatives. Maybe not perfect to some standards, but this is a long dance, and the dance with the Dems must continue for about 16 more months. I really do not think over-the-top criticism of what few leaders we do have will help defeat the Socialism of Obama. Ben Franklin: “A Republic if you can keep it!” THAT is the big prize, not some talky-talky committee. They threaten to cut the military budget, the opposition threatens. But fortunately the budget arises in the House. Talky-talk. Just as I did when SanFRanNAN lost her gavel, there will be a bottle of the best single malt, my favorite anyway, opened for toasts no matter the hour when BHO, ummm, ummm, ummm is defeated in the Electoral College. Eyes on the prize. Obamanure and his misguided minions have their gaze focused. I vote, and I’ll vote against Obama and for the Republic.

Government should only be as large as necessary to provide for the most basic requirements of commerce and the general economy. The Framers designed it to only be a basic support infrastructure for the benefit of the People.

Remember the Terminator movie? The federal government has become Skynet – a self aware, self- actualizing entity with Marxian The Democrats at its center. Democrats have successfully co-opted a service organization created to serve the People (by using Taxpayer monies to buy political allies), into an instrument of war against them.
