Obama Bus Tour: Obamneycare Edition; Updated

By Doug Powers  •  August 15, 2011 04:22 PM

President Obama’s “absolutely positively not a campaign event” bus tour is under way. Obama’s trip on “Greyhound One” (slogan: “leave the blaming to us”) prompted the Romney campaign to dub it the “Magical Misery Tour.” President Obama wasted no time launching a return salvo by… comparing Romney’s health care plan in Massachusetts to Obamacares.

From the Politico live blog:

President Obama spent a good amount of time at his “town hall” in Minnesota on Monday talking up his health care law, and trying further still to tie it to the plan enacted by the Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

“You’ve got a governor who’s running for president right now who instituted the exact same thing in Massachusetts,” Obama said. “It’s like they got amnesia. Like, ‘Aww, this is terrible. This is going to take away freedom for Americans all over the world — all over the country.’”

People expressing unfounded concern for their constitutional liberties are such crybabies, aren’t they?

You might have notices that I added a bold “s” to the end of “Obamacare” in the first paragraph. Remember when Debbie Wasserman Schultz said that the term “Obamacare” was disparaging? Good news: If you add an “s” to the end of it the term is now acceptable:

Obama also reflected on Republicans labeling his signature law “ObamaCare,” saying: “I have no problem with folks saying Obama cares. I do care. If the other side wants to be the folks that don’t care, that’s fine with me.”

For some reason I’m reminded of Monsters, Inc. motto: We scare because we care.

And finally, Jay Leno has more information on the areas the bus tour will cover:

President Obama is off on his three-state bus tour this week. I believe the three states are Confusion, Delusion and Desperation.

Update: By way of Hot Air, President Obama was confronted by a couple of Tea Party members Monday:

I think you’ll find that Ms Malkin is not quite the nose-holder you may think she is. She’s quite capable of critical thinking, and I would be shocked – shocked mind you – to discover that she doesn’t “get” that we need conservatives in office, not Republicans.

WRONG. The 10th says that the powers not specifically granted the feds belong to the States or to the People themselves.

I would submit that purchasing health insurance is a power that belongs to the People, not the State.

I can totally agree with that! But maybe I should consult Phillis before I actually commit to that idea. I’m a RINO, you see. Gospel according to Phillis.

I have seen the banter between ya’all and Phil. Frankly I think we are wasting our time here. The RNC, the elites, and the quasi-conservative media have annonited Perry and Romney.

I do not give a RIP about November 2012 yet. Frankly, who freakin cares.

The purpose of the current exercise is to put a conservative in the White House. Perry and Romney are not conservatives. Well, if you do not want them, then we should not be tearing each other apart on the issue of the general election.

The other day I mentioned I supported Bachmann, because it was time to choose. I got lots of what about Sarah? What about Cain?

I love them all. I think Rick Santorum is incredible, but its time to choose our conservative to defeat the RNC. We can get to Obama later.

It is time to choose. If Cain, Palin, or Santorum are picked by the majority of you over Bachmann, fine, I will join you. But if we go forward three or four conservatives, we’ll not have sufficient mass to defeat Perry and Romney.

We need to pick our conservative, focus our efforts, and do battle with the RINO’s. The Marxists come later.

    Mysogynist: I’m on a woman’s blogsite, genius.
Racist: I’m on a Filipino woman’s blogsite, genius.

And I’ve repeatedly and frequently expressed my respect and admiration for that Filipino woman… genius. Not to mention that Michele Bachmann is currently my favorite Presidential candidate, followed by Herman Cain. As I’ve expressed here before.

Bigot: well, you got me there:

    bigot
    [big-uht]
    big·ot
       /ˈbɪgət/ Show Spelled[big-uht]
    noun
a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.
    Origin:

I’m utterly intolerant of socialism and Islam, and of any opinion expressed in support of them.

I could point out that that definition says “any” differing… and I’m quite tolerant of Judaism and Darwinism.

Maybe you’ve never known any real bigots or racists… I have.

Then again, as I don’t fawn over the female (non)candidate you like, that makes me misogynist.

Better check that beam in your own eye, before you go poking at the mote in mine.

Why do people think conservatism is in the minority and that we have to apologize for it?

Everything is indicating, at this point, that the majority of people agree with conservatism to one degree or another. If that’s so, we don’t need to “reach out” to the left, whether it’s left in the Democrat or left in the Republican party.

There is another issue here by the way.

The American people have the right to have the President and representatives they want. Any party that feels compelled to deceive the voters by running candidates who are soft on that party’s principles is undeserving of winning the office.

We conservatives should present our principles, select candidates who most represent those principles, and then win or lose… on those principles. And accept the will of the people, no matter how fecal-pated they turn out to be.

I confess, I do not know what I am going to do, if Romney or Perry gets the nomination. I agree with Mark Levin. The Republic is in such a state that if we do not reverse course it is over. Slowing momentum it merely a delay.

I do not think anyone on this site knows what catasptrophy awaits us if Obamacare is implemented. Why do you think Obama is doing everything to delay the courts and fight the Congress. Every day Obamacare, like a parasite burrowes deeper and deeper into our national fabric. If we elect a President who would only tweak it or compromise its implementation in return for other “favors” our freedom is doomed.

IMO that is what is at stake. When Bachmann would not budge on the debt ceiling her courage and strength won me over. That was the tie breaker.

But again, I’ll take any of the four that the majority of you and the Tea Party endorse. We cannot afford to lose.

We have a 2 party system. We typically vote for Republican or Democrat. The others on the ballot from Independent to Green Party to Libertarian to Conservative do not constitute a majority or anywhere close to it. Maybe there is a good reason for that.

If you want to vote conservative, go ahead. It won’t be a majority view and elections are won by a majority so you’ll be making a point but will have virtually zero impact on the elections. Maybe someday in the future, it may make a difference but I won’t care at that point because I will be dead.

Have to share a strange story. In our little town cenmetary we have many Union veterans from the Civil War. All are marked with a brinze insignia labled “G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic).

The other day I walked by a grave with the G.A.R. marker and saw this soldier’s grave said “36th VA Infantry CSA.” Ahhhh……. Someone screwed up.

This Veteran’s Day I intend to decorate his grave with a VA flag. I doid some research and found that it is possible that at the Battle of Fisher’s Hill in 1864 this guy and my great Grandfather might have been shooting at each other. Now that is too weird.

As for Sarah, she gets a pass due to the legal constraints she is under. Also, I don’t know if this is true as I don’t have the link but according to Hannity (I believe) a reporter tried to press her for answers at the Iowa State Fair. Her reply was “I’ll get back to you as I have some pressing business to attend to.” Reporter’s reply, “What pressing business?” Sarah’s response “I need to speak with that heifer over there.”

Just sticking with the facts here. Cobb’s “record” was broken before he ever set it. The major league career record for triples (309) is actually held by “Wahoo” Sam Crawford, a teammate of Cobb on the Detroit Tigers for many years and fellow Hall of Fame member, who retired from MLB in 1917.

How many times have you slide the HNIC term out there? Need I post the links?

Ask numerous women posters opinion of your interaction with them, most know?

Ask Ms Malkin of her opinion of my interaction with her. No, I don’t treat all women equal, just as I don’t treat all men equal. I respect Ms Malkin, so I treat her respectfully. I don’t respect Palin much, so I don’t treat her with much respect. I don’t respect Obama at all…

As for the HNIC term, I *like* that term. I learned it from the movie, “Lean on Me” with Morgan Freeman (whom I remember fondly as “Easy Reader”) in the part of “Crazy” Joe Clark. I broke down laughing when Robert Guillaume told him “Contrary to popular opinion, I’m the HNIC!” (only he used the forbidden n-word which I’m not allowed to use because of the color of my skin…)

Obama is NOT the President. I refuse to even intimate that he is. He is my philosophical enemy. At *best* he’s the HNIC.

Chris Rock has a routine which he begins, “Black people… hate n-words.” (only, again, I can’t use the word because of the color of my skin). He then went on a diatribe describing these “n-words”, and it was wonderful, because he sounded like Jeff Foxworthy talking about rednecks (an ethnic slur anybody can use, regardless of skin color; ain’t equality grand?)
Since then I’ve been on a part-time crusade to get the n-word accepted as equivalent to “redneck”. I think it would take a lot of power away from the race-baiters (of all skin colors).

But, I digress. I like HNIC. I don’t like it because it hurts people; I like it because of the amusing image it puts in my head of someone trying to take more authority than he rates, or pretending to be in charge when he isn’t. In other words, Obama.

I’ve also used the term “Bog Irish” on here. I’ll have to tell my mother that I’m bigoted against her family.

Dr. Pearson: There is two kinds of racism, Mr. Escalante. Judging a group because they are a minority, and *not* judging a group because they are a minority. – Stand and Deliver

The only “minority” I recognize is the individual. Tiptoeing around language, only certain people can use certain pop culture references… that’s BS. THAT is racism.

I like Palin a bunch, but she did not commit in time.

Karl Rove was saying last night that September 22nd is the last practical date to enter the race as anything after that date will not guarantee access to all the caucases and ballots etc.

So Sarah or anyone else can go up to that date before committing. They could do so afterward but may suffer not getting into everything they want to.

Of course, waiting till Sep 22nd has it own risks of not being in the fight soon enough.
