What happened when Katy Perry tweeted “Pray for Israel”
Katy Perry is a pop singer/songwriter who churns out annoying Billboard hits (“Firework,” “Teenage Dream,” “Hot N Cold”) that your tween-age kids love and you love to hate (yes, I speak from experience). She made news this week after tying Michael Jackson’s record of scoring 5 #1 Billboard hits off a single album.
She also made some little-noticed waves on Twitter that should be newsworthy.
In a response to a fan of hers on Monday, she tweeted:
Over the past 24 hours, all hell has broken loose — with Palestinian, Muslim, and progressive Twitter followers lashing out at Perry for her innocuous tweet asking others to pray for Israel. Here’s a small sample:
Many of her fans in Israel praised her for taking a stand. But alas, their praise was premature.
Late on Monday night, you see, Perry backed off. Pray for Israel? Neeevvver mind:
Not that she’ll be able to appease the unappeasable.

It’s hard to believe that a billion muslims are bullied so ruthlessly by 7 million Israelis. Everytime I hear people bellyaching about Palestine and how brutal Israel is, all I can think is, what a pathetic group of people these nutbags are.
Katy Perry, like so many politicians and actors, is just in it for the money.
The most astonishing thing about Katy Perry is not her tweet, it is her relationship to Russell Brand!
I know the ladies like a guy with a sense of humour, but damn, THERE is a mismatch, to put it midly. Maybe Katy is doing what alot of females do with their other female friends – associate with one that is so much less attractive than themselves so as to make oneself seem so much better by comparison. Just saying.

Personally, I think Twitter does more harm than good period. Between the flash mobs and filth such as this, it is no wonder the police in San Francisco are shutting down electronic communications.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can come to terms that Israel is the “bad guy” in all of this. To these people, rockets fired indiscriminately towards populated Jewish civilian areas is not the problem, but Israel tageting militants and taking them out with smart bombs and missiles for surgical strikes are the problem. When you point that out to the likes of the Israel haters they like to come back with if the strikes were so surgical how come Palestinian women and children get killed. Of course they forget that the militants use these women and children as human shield just so they can then use their dead bodies as propaganda.

There is a positive twist to Katy Perry using Twitter. She doesn’t have enough word allotment to say something about her cleavage.

To be fair; Katy Perry is ill equipped to deal with a 50 year old, highly emotional conflict. I suspect she means well, but anyone that says anything at all will draw fire from every quarter. I don’t view her follow-up comment as “backing off” at all. It’s a factual statement “I don’t support any violence”.

My opinion about Twitter…I think it is a completely silly, mostly useless program. The only think it is good for would be in case of emergency, to keep in contact with your loved ones. Otherwise, the drivel that constantly fills the airwaves through Twitter is such nonsense, I am embarrassed for the human race, that we have reduced ourselves to letting all our friends know every time we have lunch, catch a cold, get unconstipated, you get the picture. Utter silliness. Sorry for those of you who Twitter. I just don’t see the value.
