London’s anti-gun zealots ban children from Olympic shooting events in city ticket giveaway

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 24, 2011 09:25 AM

And you wonder why London’s gone to hell in a hand basket.

The anti-gun bigotry there is so dominant that Olympic shooting champions are being treated like criminal influences on British children.

Via the London Evening Standard (hat tip: Cameron Gray)…

Children will be banned from watching shooting events under Boris Johnson’s Olympic ticket giveaway.

London schoolchildren are eligible for 125,000 Olympic tickets but these will not include any featuring guns, as Games organisers and City Hall fear a backlash from the anti-gun lobby.

Giving children tickets to the events, at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, could have appeared at odds with Mayor Boris Johnson’s bid to quell teenage gun and knife crime.

A source said: “We decided it would not be appropriate. It’s the only sport children will not be able to go to as part of the Ticketshare scheme.”

The youth ban will anger some elements of the British Olympic shooting establishment which already feels marginalised by Games organiser Locog.

Georgina Geikie, 26, a Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and Olympic pistol hopeful, said she was “horrified”, adding: “This is a chance for children to look at guns in a different way. They are taking away the opportunity for the sport to blossom. How do we educate people that it is a sport if they cannot watch it?”

David Penn, secretary of the British Shooting Sports Council, said: “There is no link between Olympic-level shooting and crime. It’s like saying that a thief would use a Formula One car as a getaway car.”

As we’ve seen over the last month, the country’s strict gun control laws sure have worked wonders in quelling riotous thugs and violent crime…

Folks, this is getting to be too easy.

You people are so full of it.

    YOU PEOPLE—ka-ching!

Just because people in different countries don’t embrace guns the way you “conservatives” do – doesn’t make them bad or wrong.

Ah, yes! Moral equivalency. Things that are different are the same and equal.

If only reality were so simple.

What is it with you people and your love of guns anyway?

I know of a gay liberal government worker in CA who packs heat. Is he also “you people”?

    YOU PEOPLE—ka-ching!

Do guns make you feel more secure?

    *rolls eyes*

Everything with you has got to be about feelings doesn’t it?

It’s simple math: Areas (now including Europe) that have gun control laws have the most violence.

Why would you want other countries to experience the same levels of gun violence we have in this country?

    (laughs)

People in England watch Columbine and Virginia Tech and wonder who would stupid enough to embrace guns –

Former Brit national here, and that is not quite true.

In fact, many UKers are very upset at the rioitng and wish they had a legal means to defend themselves and their property.

There’s now a law there that says you can be charged if you harm someone while they are stealing from you house.

As for the rest of Central-West Europe, well, if they want their cultures to die on the altar of multiculturalism then that’s their business.

Of course, if their citizenry were armed like ours was, those angry youth, socialist activists and angry democracy-hating Muslim males would think twice about rioting or harrassing elderly pedestrians or even the police.

I tell them “just go to the poorly educated states

I hope you don’t mean Utah, where their student test results are the same as New York’s at 1/3 of the cost.

and look at the pale fat people –

So why I do keep hearing from health care advocates on the left that minorities in inner city blue counties are much more likely to be obese?

they are the ones who make all of this possible.

Yes, of course. Fat people are responsible for all the violence in this country. That VA Tech gunman was just a porker of a white Texan cowboy.

—PSSTTT!!! He was actually a scronny Asian fellow!

So now you have something against Asian people? I’m part Asian.

I guess that makes you RACCCCISSSSSTTTT!!!

Forgive me if someone else already noted this [posting on the run], but does the ban extend to fencing? Swords have been killing people – *cough* I mean, people have been killing other people with swords a lot longer than they’ve been killing them with guns. :-/

Why, yes they do. Especially if I was near a flash-mob of thugs or a recently early-release gangbanger who was after my stuff.

However, they would not feel more secure. But I am alright with that!

Hold on a sec…Mrs. Cabrerski is trying to wrestle my VISA away from me since I told her I want one too.
Now she is trying to bribe me with a 40y/o single malt. I said, “why not both”. Apparently, she is not a big fan when I am well-armed and well-inebriated. I told her the dog eventually got over the last incident and still licks my face every day.

Well, I can now certainly attest to the amazing power of the .45, but I wasn’t able to put together any sort of respectable pattern. But like Cabrerski said, how can you go wrong with the .40 H&K?

Oh, and although there were no dogs at the range, the range officer working on the lane next to me caught a shot fragment in his hand when the dude with a 12 gauge a couple lanes away in the other direction tried to separate the target hanger from the line. Boy, was that officer pissed! I decided 50 rounds was enough for the night, the other 50 will be spent some other time!

    Really
? 40 years old single malt? How much did that set you back? Yikes. We were looking at old Scotch as a present for a physician friend, and I was not about to pay over $500 for a bottle of whisky–even if it did come from my homeland.

spacey: 40y/o trips to paradise usually run between $1200 to $2600 per 750mL bottles. Not cheap but worth it.

For the price range mentioned above, check out Binnys.com. They do online orders. Most single malt fans like the Highlands or Speyside malts. These tend to be mellower and more delicate.
A few in the price range – Glenfarclas 40, Glenfiddich 33 (1973 vintage), Glenlivet 25, Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve, Glenrothes 1975, Highland Park 34 single cask (1971 vintage)and Highland Park 30.
If you friend is a Peathead (lots of smoke and peat are desired), go with the Laphroaig 25.

I have tasted many of the above, but I would put my money on the Highland Park 1971 single cask. Never tried this particular vintage but I like the distillery and it is only $350.00.
