Another deportation fugitive in the Obama family
Oh, Uncle Omar.
We’ll get to more of him in a moment.
Over the past decade, I’ve reported on America’s bottomless deportation abyss. After the 9/11 attacks, it finally dawned on federal homeland security officials that maybe it wasn’t such a smart policy to allow 400,000 illegal aliens who had been ordered deported to remain on the loose. These absconders who entered the country illegally, evaded judicial deportation orders, and absconded from justice were beneficiaries of a chaotic system clogged by conflicting statutes, incomprehensible administrative regulations, bureaucratic and judicial fiefdoms, selective enforcement, and a feeding frenzy of obstructionist immigration lawyers.
It is a climate which continues to favor illegal aliens’ rights over citizens’ safety.
I’ve reminded you repeatedly about these deportation truths as clueless politicians on both sides of the aisle blabber about “comprehensive immigration reform”/mass amnesty. In July, I pointed you to a Center for Immigration Studies study that updated and underscored many of the deportation fundamentals we’ve stressed over the years:
* A large percentage of aliens flee from removal proceedings – perhaps as many as 59 percent of all those released to await hearings. On a cost basis from the alien’s perspective, this makes sense. If you are in proceedings and have little chance of relief, why not treat the bond money (if it’s even required) as the cost of having been caught, and then flee, hoping to stay under the radar for as long as possible, perhaps until the next amnesty?
* Though fashionable in the Obama administration, the exercise of “prosecutorial discretion” is problematic for ICE field officers. If the alien that they decline to remove goes on to commit a heinous act, they could be subject to lawsuits from victims and will be held accountable by their own agency (even if agency leadership encourages them to use the tool).
* Even in today’s technology-driven world, charging an alien with immigration violations is a paperwork-intensive, cumbersome process that requires agents to fill out nearly 20 different forms each time.
* ICE officers are supposed to consider two key factors in determining whether to detain or release an alien in proceedings – if the alien is a flight risk and if he is a risk to the community. The latter factor obviously is given serious consideration, but it is equally obvious from the large number of absconders that officers don’t give the same weight to the likelihood of flight, especially considering the scarcity of funded detention space.
* The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for several types of due process for aliens, depending on their circumstances of arrival and stay. The law does not require that all removals be ordered by an immigration judge.
* The option of Voluntary Return, where the alien requests to be returned home in lieu of formal removal proceedings, is not really “voluntary,” but is beneficial to the alien because it carries fewer consequences if the alien returns illegally. It also has become subject to overuse or misuse in recent years as a tool to increase the volume of removals, at the expense of more formal methods of removal that have more deterrent value.
* Immigration law provides for seven ways to remove an alien, which are explained in the report. Four of these options are relatively efficient, but used less frequently. If ICE chose to expand their use, the workload of the immigration court could be reduced and the immigration enforcement system would be less dysfunctional.
* The total number of apprehensions of illegal aliens by immigration enforcement agencies is less than half of what it was five years ago. For instance, the drop in apprehensions by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is often explained by improvements in border security; however, this rationale is suspect, as has been pointed out by the Rand Corp. in a study of border metrics. But ICE apprehensions also have dropped steeply, although there has been only a modest drop in the size of the illegal population inside the United States.
When the White House began issuing its deportation waivers last week, I reminded you again about the endless appeals process and immigration litigation lottery played by deportable aliens and their open-borders lawyers. And remember: Capitol Hill compounds the problem with a raft of special private relief bills that protect illegal alien criminals.
This chaos creates a friendly atmosphere in which those who plot to destroy the American dream can hide, work, and flourish. As we approach the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that awoke snoozing feds to the nexus between systemic lax immigration enforcement and compromised homeland security, the paparazzi president has nothing to say about the deportation abyss. We’ll get photo ops and platitudes about never forgetting. The open-borders lobby will get a continuing windfall of get-out-of-deportation passes.
In November 2008, Barack Obama’s unemployed illegal alien aunt who had been living in public housing for years received special dispensation from the Bush administration despite evading deportation orders for years. Despite failing to win an asylum bid and despite ignoring a judicial determination that she return home, Zeituni Onyango won another bid in the immigration court system. In May 2010, the unemployed illegal alien deportation fugitive won her case and remains in the country today — free to moan and whine about how badly America has treated her while living on the taxpayers’ dime.
And then came Uncle Omar. The brother of Auntie Zeituni and half-brother of President Obama’s father, “Omar” Obama Onyango was arrested for drunk driving last week (h/t to Michael Graham) and is being detained on an immigration detainer. He did have a job, unlike his sister. It was, alas, at a liquor store. The Boston Herald reports today that the uncle (whom Obama referred to in his best-selling “Dreams of My Father” as “Uncle Omar”) “had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya.”
The Herald further adds:
Mike Rogers, a spokesman for Cleveland immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who is representing Onyango, said he “wouldn’t know how” Onyango obtained a Social Security number. Wong is the same lawyer who represented the president’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango, in her fight to win asylum last year. Reached at her apartment in a South Boston public housing complex yesterday, Zeituni Onyango said of her brother’s arrest: “Why don’t you go to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C., and ask your president? Not me.” She then hung up on a reporter.
The bust came just days after another illegal immigrant was charged with running down and killing a 23-year-old man in Milford.
Asked about the issue yesterday, Gov. Deval Patrick said: “You know my stance: Illegal is illegal. We need comprehensive immigration reform.”
More nonsense and pabulum from America’s open-borders know-nothings. They’ve turned the American Dream on its head. Entry into this country is no longer treated as a privilege, but an irrevocable right for every last griping Zeituni and reckless Omar.

the funniest part of obama’s billy moment is, he does nothing for anybody in his own family, yet tells us he knows what is best for us. typical liberal, they always tell us what we need to do, and how we should do it, but never do anything for themself.

States better pay attention to fake id web sites on the internet,as identities including passports are being sold, and used. The only valid i.d. is a fingerprint. Put it on checks, i.d.s, welfare payments, voting, etc. NO MORE IDENTITY THEFT. NO MORE INSURANCE FRAUD. NO MORE VOTE FRAUD.

No kidding. My office went “paperless” a few years back. Now we have to file more paperwork to provide as backup copies of all the electronic files we have. Not only do we have to file hard copies (paper copies) of the e-files, we have to file documentation as to when the file was created in the computer, file an update everytime there is a change in status of the e-file, and file paperwork when the e-file is closed out and archived.
MA Gov Deval Patrick is a liar. He refuses to participate in “Secure Communities”, and when the 23 year old in Milford was killed, his response was that it was a drunk driving issue, not an illiegal immigrant issue. He makes me sick.
When asked if Onyango would like to make a phone call, he replied: ” I think I will call the White House.”
How cute.
I wonder if there will be any investigation (or investigative journalism) into the SSN issue?
This all makes me so furious. My husband and I have spent several years, hundreds of dollars and lots of stress for him to immigrate legally from England. Once he was here, we had to wait a while before he could legally work. He has been eligible for citizenship for a while now, but we cannot afford it. I used to joke that it would have been cheaper and easier for him to just overstay a visa or come up through Mexico. To some extent I feel like we shouldn’t complain since we knew what we were getting into…but when you hear about so many others just thumbing their noses at the whole thing, it makes you wonder if you’re stupid for doing things properly. I kind of want all our money back.
Someone there is not getting the concept. I work in an office that went from paper-intensive to paperless in the past two years and we are virtually paperless these days other than presentation materials. We got rid of almost all of our filing cabinets. Everything gets scanned, sorted and filed.
And I work in the highly-regulated investment industry. I can’t imagine why you would need to keep hard copies of anything but a very few official documents.
Probably about the same as looking into bho’s ssn! There have been people trying to get to the bottom of bho’s, but as with almost everything about bho, it gets scrubbed from public record?

His major field of study will be constitutional law, no doubt.
“Comprehensive Immigration Reform” = Blanket Amnesty. We absolutely need rational enforcement of existing laws. If the pols want to clarify and simplify the laws and regs, that’s fine. The illegals must be deported, or in some rare specific cases, given amnesty.
There are stautes of limitations on crimes, I recognize that. But you don’t give blanket amnesty to huge numbers of people breaking into the country for solely economic or overtly criminal reasons.
America does not need any more disaffected Mexican laborers. If anything we need Asian and European engineers and scientists. Open those gates for a while. But then the real driver here is to increase the roles of taxpayers and voters who will keep Socialists in power. Right?
Did I forget to mention that I work in a Federal office?

Believe it or not they didn’t hire anyone new. Of course that might be because over the previous two fiscal years (fiscal years 09 and 10) the hospital hired 300 more staff then they were supposed to. Now the new Hospital commander is trying to figure out how to get rid of the 300 extra people. He is trying to weed out the ones that are just here for a paycheck, but he is running into a brick wall as a lot of the management has been utterly lazy and has not created the neccessary paper trail needed.

All three of my children were born before my wife could apply and acquire citizenship. By the understood definition of a natural-born citizen, they are not eligible for the office of the President or VP of the USA.
I want resolution to all of this eligibility issue so I can honestly tell my children what they can shoot for in life. If they are DNQ, then Jindal, Rubio and Obama are also out.

Great article. Here is what I expect to see by this time next year. There will be a massive hiring (by executive order) within the Federal governement. These jobs will be created to reduce unemployment and could even be made as a temporary term postion not to exceed 6 months.

Obama’s Uncle and his phony documents
Kerry Picket of the Washington Times, covers the efforts of Boston Herald columnist, talk show host, and national treasure Howie Carr to get to the bottom of Uncle Omar’s phony documentation. On his show, Carr said:

The effort to ease illegal immigrants into the mainstream with phony documentation thus has the fingerprints of a Democrat presidential nominee. Uncle Omar’s nephew now sits in the White House. Perhaps the president can be asked to comment on his uncle’s ability to evade the law, and the role of the official blind to immigration status embodied in his own policies, such as sanctuary cities.
Thank God, Uncle Omar didn’t kill anyone, while driving drunk.
Update: AP reports that ICE had an existing deportation or removal order, but for reasons not apparent, was able to live his documented life. The White House has had no comment.
Update: By strange coincidence, Barack Obama and his uncle both were Massachusetts residents in the late 1980s, while some interesting questions have been raised about the president’s Social Security number. Don’t expect any of the journalists leaking Rick Perry’s college transcript or investigating Michele Bachmann’s husband’s psychology practice, to be intrigued.

Someone here will correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember that after pRez obummer had his first physical as pRez it was reported that he was in generally good health but the doctors recommended that he cut back on the booze. I was amazed that was made public, since virtually nothing about obummer is on public record (transcripts, etc.). I’m not aware of anything else being made public regarding his health. Anyway, it seems that boozing it up is a common family practice with the obummers.

My friend is an American born in Colorado. When her American husband died, she met a new fellow several years later who was a citizen of Mexico. When they decided to marry, they started down the legal immigration road. She told me she had to pay $7000 just to get him out of Mexico. She said she paid people in ICE for certain documents but she was afraid to tell me too much and she said she was told by ICE officials that she “could get in trouble” if she told anybody about bribes. Her husband had to bribe Mexican officials to get the paperwork to process. After 7 years, he is her husband now with a green card. She told me that she and her husband cannot go to Mexico to see his parents as the area where they live has been overrun with criminal Federal police and drug dealers. Any liberal progressive who continues to think we can allow Mexicans to cross our borders at will is a traitor. Think about these things in 2012 and vote them all out.

We need to make ending ILLEGAL immigration a top issue in all 2011 and 2012 elections!
Megyn Kelly (I prefer Martha McCallum) had a segment on the floods in New Jersey. They showed several of the devastated natives (strange how they all appeared to be poor people), and the last one they showed cried and moaned about losing her home of 22 years in a thick hispanic accent.
I lost what little sympathy I had at that point. Sure, she could be a legal resident or even a citizen… and I could become President…
This is so not right! Refugee families wait for years to get a visa then jumping through the hurdles requires a sponsor’s or agency’s help for at least 3-6 months. Think how hard it is for those of us who speak English and deal with forms all the time! I am well educated and I still get so confused and miss things that must be done. And to find affordable housing. Not!

A friend of mine told me a story of an Australian man who tried to immigrate legally to the US. He lived in Seattle and after nearly 10 years and countless thousands of $’s spent on lawyers, paperwork fees, etc. he finally said screw it and moved to England. When he left he took his successful small business with him (as well as the 10 jobs he created).
And here is a reminder story of exactly why we need to secure our borders first before anything else:

Even though I was in country at the time, I’ve no clue as to why that bright canary yellow color was chosen? I can only guess it was in stark contrast to Marcos’ supporters choice of red?
It was very subtle at first. Our secretary in Admin. on the Base would compliment her outfit w/ a small yellow hair tie. Then her purse, shoes etc. By time Marcos was ousted, she was sporting yellow from head to toe!

My grandmother emigrated from Italy in 1920 and retained her thick Italian accent her whole life despite speaking English at home and work for 50+ years.
It’s still weird to see Malthusian / socialist arguments used by so-called conservatives.
