Two measly arrests in WA longshoremen union mob’s attack

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 13, 2011 07:38 PM

Notice how eerily silent the civility police have been about the fallout from last week’s union mob violence, kidnapping, and sabotage at the port in Longview.

I told you on 9/8 to “expect slaps on the wrist for the vandalism, violence, and destruction at the port” because “Washington state has a history of coddling those who sabotage ports there.”

See, I told you so:

Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Deputies announced they had made two arrests Monday evening following a contentious standoff last week at a Longview grain facility that saw violence, vandalism and numerous confrontations between police and union members.

Ronald Patrick Stavas, 45, was arrested Monday night on a “probable cause statement,” according to a press release from the Sheriff’s office. He was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies said Stavas was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail on four felony charges including burglary in the first degree, assault in the second degree, intimidating a witness, and sabotage.

Stavas is the unhinged dirty mouth caught on camera by TV station KGW:

The second culprit:

Also arrested on Monday was Shelly Ann Porter, age 39, of Longview.

She was charged with criminal trespass in the second degree as a result of the blocking of the train on Wednesday, September 7. She was booked and released on this misdemeanor charge and is scheduled to make an appearance in Cowlitz County District Court.

Yes, they can…get away with wrist slaps.

The union thugs bring out the brass knuckles. The law combats them with…tickle feathers.

I wouldn’t exactly call a felony of any kind a slap on the wrist.

But who are the kidnappers and weren’t there several people involved?

    Also, a fun factoid:
Phoenix, Arizona is the kidnapping capital of America. With 370 cases in 2010, Phoenix is ranked second in the world (ranked first is Mexico City.)

Yeah Phil but the WH has a good excuse. They claim that in a new industry like this, there is risk and there are bound to be failures. Nothing out of the ordinary here, move along.

In the real world we are talking $500 million plus. Thats some big bucks walking. Not to mention the Obama buddy gets preferred debt status over us common taxpayer folk. He will be paid, while we will not.

Yeah, they were watching it closely alright. Backdoor campaign contributions.

Fagitaboutit! Must uphold the proud tradition of the Teamster’s, and Longshoreman’s Unions: America’s ignorant thuggery at it’s worst.

Washington State is high on the list for corrupt politics, public nudity, and for corpulent women with a penchant for hairy legs & arm pits, anti-military protests, anarchists, tree-huggers, and dope smokers!

At least it’s confined to the cities, leaving the pristine beauty of the state alone.

With all that money the members pay their union, the least the union could do is to advise their members not to stand in the way of a moving 3 1/2 ton vehicle.
Maybe the lack of common sense of these morons is why they belong to this union: so someone can do their thinking for them. It is obvious their mental skills are lacking (reactions too, based on how their escape was a big FAIL).

I think that Miz Porter will probably get a slap on the wrist for her criminal trespass. However, Mr. Stavas may be looking at some real jail time here. Sabotaging a train is most likely a federal crime–interstate commerce.
    ***
Maybe he can be flipped and will incriminate his corrupt union bosses to escape lots of time in the slammer. If our Department of (social) Justice doesn’t want to take the case now–it may in Jan. 2013. The union may have jumped the shark here.
    ***
And a good congressional hearing could break the American Pravda Media silence on these criminal acts.

Quick questions. So when a union thug goes to prison does his union rep help him to gain a contract for early release and other bennies and if the don’t get it do they threaten to strike? What about union breaks, do they get those as well? When working in the prison laundry do the union thugs have to ensure they do not work to fast otherwise they will be breaking the statemnt of work? Do the union immates call non-union inmates scabs?

Believe it or not, here in WA ST most of the cops feel the same way. It was pointed out during the last Gubenatorial election. The Dem Gov (Gregoire) made it a point to say she had the backing of the police union. The R challenger (Dino Rossi) pointed out that he had the backing of the police guild. What is the difference, cops have to joing the union as part of their job, but cops join the guild cause the guild fights for what the cops believe in.

I think I saw the Cowlitz county sheriff in a commercial funded by big liquor distributors who are trying to keep the state in the liquor business. So there’s no surprise that he’s not just big on big government but also big on union bosses.

I live in Tacoma where we saw the slap-on-the-wrist for protestors who interfered with the loading of military supply ships. We rely on the Port and all of their customers (including the military) for jobs and revenue. We, the people, own and operate the Port.

Now we’re facing the teachers strike. It’s an annual event staged by the union. They picked Tacoma this year which is something they haven’t done for a long time (some said since ’74.) A judge issued an injunction to stop the strike. It’s illegal for public employees to strike in this state (as if that matters to union bosses.) We’ll see where this goes. Not holding my breath.

I work over at JBLM and on my way home I heard about the court order for teachers to return to work tomorrow. I also stopped off at the store on the way home and heard a couple of people (im guessing are Tacoma teachers) saying they are weighing their options. They said in light of the lack of anything after the Longview deal they are considering not showing up as they figure the judge is powerless to really do anything to them.
