    I was trying to come up with something equally crazy and the best I could come up with was this: recall the “Mission Accomplished” banner that Bush/Rove did? Imagine that they had also launched a website with it, appealing to the citizenry to report anyone who had doubts about whether in fact the mission had truly been accomplished. There would be names and rebuttals and that sort of thing.

    Conservatives & Republicans would still be enduring taunts about it. How could Obama, supposedly a political genius, be so obtuse?

    Bush/Rove did not do that banner. That was a specific ship accomplishment.

    On the somewhat-more-worrisome side, Obama also proposed extending the 2 percentage point payroll tax cut to employees and increasing it to 3.1 percentage points (half of the Social Security tax).
