Big Labor thug watch: Judge fines longshore union $250,000 for sabotage; thugs threaten to “do what we have to do”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 30, 2011 01:54 PM

That’s the good news.

The bad news, of course: It’ll come out of rank-and-file workers’ dues while fat cat Big Labor thugs back in Washington sit clean and pretty in their Taj Mahal headquarters.

KOMO News/AP reports (h/t Steve G.):

A federal judge has fined a Longshore union $250,000 for its tactics in a Longview labor dispute.

U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton said Friday he needed to take action in an effort to stop what he called an “awful” situation.

He has held the International Longshore and Warehouse Union in contempt for blocking a train earlier this month and a protest at a grain terminal that caused damages.

The National Labor Relations Board had asked court to fine the union more than $290,000 to cover damages and other expenses. Leighton says he rounded down to be cautious and ordered additional penalties for future violations.

Meanwhile, the lonshore union’s president threatens more pain – via Victoria Taft:

“It’s going to get worse before it gets better.”

Another union goon says they’ll “do what we have to do” to prevail.

Mark those words.

I feel if the judge would have put these union thugs sorry hind end in jail for six months, that probably would make more of a point to stop this krap? Fines don’t make a dent in all the money these unions thugs have. I might add, the money the union thugs get, taxpayers fund in a great amount of it!

So the NLRB, the official government arm of the labor unions, asked for $290K in fines, and the judge knocked it down to only $250K?

Sounds like somebody’s already visited the judge’s family to “discuss” their children’s “future”.

I wish I could dismiss that comparison as far-fetched, but unfortunately I can’t.

Ann Coulter put it well when she said that if you want to know what liberals are thinking or doing, just listen to what they accuse you of thinking or doing.

In the same vein, the people who are only too ready to accuse you of being a “Nazi” are the same ones who have created a “Party Army” of bully-boys with colored shirts (purple instead of brown), and a designated class of bogeymen upon whom all blame for everything they don’t like can be heaped and whose existence itself will eventually be criminalized if they have their way.

The only difference — albeit a major one — is that the Tea Party “Jews” of today can defend themselves in a way that their European counterparts couldn’t back in the 1930s. Generally speaking, party armies are only effective against those who can’t fight back.

Agreed! The guard’s should sue the union individually for mega dollars citing RICO statutes. After all isn’t that how they shut down many of the KKK and many of the Mafia operations.

Totally agree. Confronting and dealing w/ all of this has been more than frustrating. The reality is, once we wrest control, much of the Progenda will die on the vine all of its own accord.

With Dept. of Ed disbanded/emasculated, no more prog-indoc centers. As the EPA collapses under its own [unfunded] weight, no more picking Winners & Losers from behind the curtain w/ some vague Env. Impact Statement.

As noted earlier in the week as Dem districts throughout CA crashed and burned on Unemployment ( just keep voting Dem! ) No really.., it’s ‘working’ for you guys!

The little matter of holding the security guards hostage for four hours is blatant kidnapping and can still be charged. That would be a felony for each of the union thugs convicted and would send a real message that there are limits to what they can get away with.

I’m afraid however, that because it’s a union based action, the local DA will not want to touch it for political reasons.

The other possibility is that the company doesn’t want the added greif and has instructed the guards to not press charges, even if local law enforcement creates formal reports to forward to the DA.

If the charges for anything, criminal mischief, destruction of property, etc., plus threats of violence, injury and kidnapping were pressed, I think we’d have heard about it by now. In other words, they get off with a fine.

Let’s see the WH log of visitors – who’s at the top of that list for number of personal visits? Trumpka. Hmmmmm, is there a connection somewhere? I wonder…….

Via RedState.com: In a critical report published by the Center for Public Integrity regarding the White House visitor log, one of the more peculiar items noted was the amount of visits that AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka has made to the White House. While the Center’s criticism centers around the lack of (or missing) data provided by the White House, the records did reflect that Trumka has visited the White House an astonishing four dozen times:
