Occupy Seattle: Arrests, pepper spray, CNN – “Like a scene out of the French revolution”

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 2, 2011 09:45 PM

An Occupier twitpic of the mob gathered in the rain outside the Seattle Sheraton where Chase exec Jamie Dimon was speaking tonight.

In conjunction with Occupy Oakland’s “general strike,” Occupy Seattle marched downtown to protest Chase Bank and Wall Street Chase exec Jamie Dimon.

A CNN reporter tweeted:

“Like a scene out of the French revolution: #occupyseattle protesting outside Sheraton where biz leaders can be seen eating dinner.”

The Seattle Times reports:

Five protesters who had been inside Chase bank were arrested and taken outside to a police paddy wagon. Other protesters began pounding on the vehicle and chanting, “Let them go!” Some people began lying down in front of the van.

Police have used pepper spray on protesters and have closed off East Thomas Street and Broadway. Protesters are handing gas masks to each other and pounding on police cars.

A few scuffles have been seen between officers and protesters, but Seattle police Sgt Sean Whitcomb said he did not know if additional protesters had been arrested outside the bank.

A line of officers has formed about 10 feet from a circle of about 150 protesters in the middle of Broadway and East Harrison. They’re locking arms and chanting, “We are the 99 percent.”

About 4 p.m., they left and began marching toward Westlake Park for the evening protest against Chase CEO Jamie Dimon.

Erin Brown covered some of the police-bashing by Occupiers on scene in Seattle throughout the day.

Will Obama continue to say they are just citizens speaking their minds? What did he say about the Tea Party? I’m not sure it was quite as charitable.

At least the media has stopped comparing these anarchists to the Tea Party!! They can’t get away with that any more!

The 1968 riots propelled Nixon to victory and the Dems said nothing about the rioters. This time they are cheering them on.

DWS and BHO should take a look at the smelly stuff on their shoes Oh my, just what did you step in?

You’re right, and it should be those that incite the violence.

It isn’t that hard to figure out who’s who: Identify, target, and eliminate. When another coward steps up to the plate and starts inciting, same thing.

The 1% of the 99% should be 100% gone, if it gets violent. (No remorse for anarchist cannon fodder doncha know!)

I certainly would shed no tears for any “Occupy” casualties. Rioting is not right, it’s a choice…and, a bad one at that!

Any attempt to stop our elections will be met with unbelievable resistance. They won’t be able to get away with anything like that, count on it! First of all, the media won’t allow it. Even the MSM doesn’t want that and they won’t let Obama and his ilk get away with it. The occupiers are showing their true colors and everyone knows they are in the minority. The National Guard can get this under control. There is no need for martial law or anything like it. We have a military that is dedicated to preserving our freedoms, and that includes, very much, free elections.

happy, I would put NOTHING past BHO. He has already shown his propensity for ruling by fiat. I have expected him to pull the martial law card out of the deck since he first set foot in the WH. He’s just waiting for his puppet masters to tell him when.

I just don’t believe he could pull it off. Our military wouldn’t allow it. And too many people are armed. There would be a civil war if he tried to stop our elections. This bunch of fools who are “occupying” are criminals. They just need a few heads banged together, and a few arses thrown in jail. Breaking windows, raping each other, threatening reporters…this crap will be stopped. As long as they were relatively peaceful, they were allowed to gather. But this is anarchy and the National Guard needs to come in and take care of business. Each state has the authority to call in the Guard and they need to excercise that authority. Obama can’t override that.

Regarding dowager Angela Davis, who was at the NYC protest/free food bonanza at Zucotti Park, the hard core communist activist Ms. Davis was given an adoring interview on CNN by the liberal “journalist” Don Lemon. Mr. Lemon introduced Davis as a “liberal activist”. Ms. Davis is, by her own admission, a communist and twice ran for VP on the Communist Party line. Lemon may have too lazy to do his homework. Or maybe he decided just to ignore little details that might detract from his lovey dovey feelings toward Angela Davis. Lemon also did not mention the little matter of Ms. Davis’s indictment in the 1970s for providing a firearm to a cold blooded killer who murdered a judge with the firearm. Ms. Davis fled after indictment, was caught, and got off because of a liberal California jury. But CNN and Don Lemon wanted its viewers to adore Angela Davis just as much as they adore her. It must be 1960s week at CNN. CNN has been bringing back every crank from the 1960s. Pete Seeger will likely be interviewed by Larry King on Friday night.

You just gave Obama a pass in the other thread. In regards to Cain’s comments on China not having a nuke, you indicated that maybe he was tired.

So the same could be said about Obama in a campaign, right?

I’m way more concerned about a President/Presidential candidate not knowing about a potential nuclear threat in China than I am about an obvious misstatement about how many states he visited.

Be honest. Which is more concerning to you? If Cain had accidently said 57 states and Obama had said China didn’t have nukes, I’d be all over Obama. This isn’t a ‘gotcha’ question like who is the president of Cambodia. This is real life and Cain has no idea.

Neither one is a foreign policy genius in my book (and is why I have concerns about Cain). Cain is laking on foreign policy knowledge as has been seen on multiple occassions. Obama has as well. His administration claimed the Muslim Brotherhood was a largely secular organization. He went into Libya without any knowledge of whom he was siding with (not that Gaddaffi was a good guy mind you) and now there are AQ flags flying in Libya (and Obama has access to intelligence reports). So it seems like when it comes to foreign policy neither Obama nor Cain can is on top of it.

Huh. So that must be why whenever I ask my wife if she wants to watch the Three Stooges with me, she always says “Get bent!”.

After all that time together, you think your wife would recognize the overture to foreplay when offered.

I thought foreplay was just yelling “Brace yourself!”?

If Cain had accidently said 57 states and Obama had said China didn’t have nukes,

Wasn’t it BHO who said Austrians speak Austrian? Didn’t he also completely flub “God Save the Queen”? So Cain didn’t know about China’s nukes? Well then he can join the Obama administration in wonder and surprise at just what China does have. After all, these are the folks that exclaimed earlier this year, “Heeyyy! China has an AIRCRAFT CARRIER now? What do they need THAT for?” Cain could also visit with Thom Friedman who can school him on the superior nature of China’s form of government in comparison to our own.

This is why it’s so hard for me to take the “So-and-so is so ignorant/nuts/crazy” charge seriously when leveled by someone on the Left because they have a long history of selectively applying the label.

Just this week a Liberal friend at work said, “I can take some GOP candidates but I’m sorry–Rick Perry and Michelle Bachmann–esp Bachmann–are just batsh– crazy!” So to test the evenhanded nature of my friend I asked, “And what do you think of Harry Reid? Nancy Pelosi? (I didn’t think to mention Kucinich or Maxine Waters)” and as I expected, he equivocated some by saying, “Well, Nancy is a prevaricator and she’s just being a politician.”

In other words, she’s “just a liar but all politicians lie and of course, she’s not crazy.” This is the type of “equity” you’ll find on the Left most often.
    So utterly predictable.

Stephanie Condon, with a CBS affiliate, is not a great reporter, given the headline she posts on this article.

Cain simply left out “continued” capability. He knows perfectly well that China has nuclear weapons, although very few and of a much lower grade than those of ours and our allies.

They most certainly are working on their capability and are also definitely working at building aircraft carriers. That was in the news a few months ago.

Amazing what a little fear (of Cain’s candidacy) can do to people.

Likely these riots are a foreshadow of worse things to come. Quite possible coordinated insurrection bad enough for our current federal government to declare martial law, suspension of the election, certain rights, including assembly and private ownership, even mandatory surrender of personal firearms.

This administration is so currupt and determined to shove its policies down our throats, I wouldn’t put any of the above out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah, and I’ll see pigs flying before my Gov. “Moonbeam” Brown calls in the Guard to deal with these thugs. The mayors wont even have their own PD crack down, I can’t see them calling the governor for help.

Gee, maybe it’s just me, but I always thought foreplay consisted of “Hey buddy, what was your name again?”

(As if you guys didn’t think I’d add my $0.02 to the conversation…) ;-)
