The reason that main stream media and news outlets do not publish photographs of graffati and vandialized buildings is that it encourages people to do it more. A few months before the shooting in Tucson, I attended a very small, private wedding. I have known the bride for over twenty years and have been close with her and her parents. I watched her grow and even drove 3 hours to see her graduate from high school.
At the wedding, there was a energetic young man named Gabe Zimmerman there. He was taking pictures and was very close to the bride and groom. Young Gabe was also Gabrielle Gifford’s Director of Community Outreach, but I did not know that at the time. It was a lovely evening and a joyous occasion.
Fast forward to January 8th. Nineteen people were shot by a mad man. Six were killed and Gabe was one of those who perished. There was no political reason despite all the hoopla by talking heads. The man was sick and should have been in some type of supervised care.
My friends were devastated. This incident also occured a block and a half from my sister’s house. We lost many good people that day, including an innocent child. I am thankful that other 13 victims (as well as those who were nearby) escaped death.

This whole movement is doomed to fail in due time. Unfortunatly, it’s also likely to result in a social meltdown that could wreak havoc in our major cities. It seems as those anrchists, communists and others are pushing for it. As usual, many in the the MSM and politicians are either joining or condoning their actions, claiming that they support non-violent demonstrations.
The spark will come when a police officer, or (eventually) a National Guard member, is threatened with deadly force and shoots someone.The guns that have not been seen yet will come out and things will get bloody on both sides.
The politicians have allowed it to get to this point, believing they could reason with these people. They have now got to come to grips with the fact that nothing short of violence can result from this mayhem.
There is no escape and they cannot deal with it. They can only tread water awaiting the tragedy that is in the making.

I acknowledge your condemnation of the violence perpetrated by SOME of the OWS crowd- That’s an easy one to make. And I agree with the statement that they have a right to protest (as the Tea Party does as well)- also an easy call. My query is more basic, not whether you support the OWS right to protest, or the resulting violence, but DO YOU SUPPORT THE OWS MOVEMENT AND GOALS? Do you support their desire to punish the rich (those signs and chants that they peacefully participate in)? Do you believe in redistributing stuff from one group to another based on some ploitician’s definition of fairness? This is not an abstract discussion of political views that has no consequences, like in a college classroom. This is a question of where you stand. I’m not trying to provoke you, I’m really curious what your stand on this is.
I doubt that.

I’ve previously said on this site that their demands are 100% unreasonable. I don’t support the movement. I’ve never supported the movement. There is no cohesive message that one can rally around other than ‘capitalism is bad.’ Which I disagree with.
Not on a politician’s definition of fairness. Government collects taxes as a means to operate. Lord knows they waste gobbles of money. I have no issue with attempting to reign in wasteful spending.
When it comes to taxes, I generally think it should be a progressive tax system. I don’t think someone who has $1,000 of discretionary income per year should face the same taxation level as someone with $50 million of discretionary income per year. Again, my two cents on the subject.

I vote for San Clemente Island off the coast of CA. It’s part of LA County (perfect) and is used for target practice by the US Navy.
