New Obama Campaign Ad: Yes We Can… Remember 2008!

By Doug Powers  •  November 7, 2011 10:30 AM

**Written by Doug Powers

When I watched this for the first time and the “one year from now all the progress could be erased” part came up, I thought it was a Republican Party ad.

There is now less than one year to go until the elections next November, and the Obama campaign has a new ad looking forward to that day by looking back and reminding their current (and former) supporters what an awesome time they were having back in 2008:

New campaign catch-phrase: “Are you better off remembering what a great mood you were in when you were convinced that in four years you’d be better off than you were four years ago?”

I understand the flashback strategy. What else can they do? When the Indianapolis Colts make an ad to promote ticket sales for next year, will they be more likely to include footage from this season, or Super Bowl XLI?

Right after each Comrade Obama “accomplishment”–cut to the unemployment lines, the bailouts, the Wisconsin Acorn / Union riots, the OWS marxist clown encampments and arson, Obamacare, debt explosion, “greenie” money waste and stonewalling, etc. It’s a real target rich environment.

And at the end–have Sarah Palin appear and say, “President Obama promised to fundamentally transform the U.S.–and to redistribute wealth for the benefit of all. How’s it working out for you, America? Are you better off now than you were in Nov. 2008? Will his reelection make the next 4 years better for you and your family?”

Assuming there’s no children involved, I’d say you’ve got about a year to work things out. Yeah, it’s that serious. After how insanely divisive Progs have determined to make this country, I can’t see how they’d be able to live under the same roof?

It most certainly is progress to those who look back at those romantic heady days in Russia and dream of being in the forefront of a 1917 Revolution Redux. We are approaching the 100th anniversary of that, after all. Good times, good times.

Whipping up hysteria and fear in the base is a losing strategy, but when you never had the right and have lost the center, what’s left but to appeal to the left a la, “Don’t you leave, too!”

The sad thing is, the 45-48% of people who will vote for Obama no matter what really do think that they’ve made “progress.” Not based on any empirical data or objective observation, but simply because they believe what they want to — and then work backwards from there to rationalize it.

As with every election, it’s not the left-or-right base that will decide the issue but the center. That Team Hopenchange has already written them off and is concentrating instead on trying to steady the ranks of its own core supporters can only be taken as very good news indeed.
