Obama: Extending Unemployment and Payroll Tax Break Will Create More Jobs Than Keystone Pipeline

President Obama said that he will delay his vacation and keep Congress in session until the passage of his desired payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits extension — two proposals that Obama said would create more jobs than the Keystone XL pipeline that his administration recently delayed.

As Obama called for passage of those bills, he also responded to a recent Republican push to require him to approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada. “However many jobs might be generated by a Keystone pipeline,” he said, “they’re going to be a lot fewer than the jobs that are created by extending the payroll tax cut and extending unemployment insurance.”
Look for the White House to propose a compromise that would be acceptable to both labor unions and environmentalists while creating more jobs than anybody can possibly imagine: The construction of a 1,600 mile pipeline through which would flow economy-boosting unemployment checks.

To a liberal, “jobs” means “UNION jobs.” The rest of the workers, well, they’re just racists, rich, white, deniers, and homophobes.

What I loved is how Obama claimed that it was partisan politics to tie the unemployment extension to the pipelines, but that it had nothing to do with politics when it came to delaying the decsion on the pipeline on his part.
I strolled over to Kos and finally found something they don’t like about Obama. He didn’t override Sebelius on getting over the counter contraception to underage girls.
What a hill to stake your flag on, huh? Right in line with the OWS crowd getting mad at Hannah Montana for singing to them while ignoring Obama’s entire economic team came from Wall Street.
No jive. At least in our bracket, all it meant last year was a few extra sheckels in Mrs. W’s check but at the end of the year, we basically had to pay it back.

Great minds and all. I had the same thought earlier today. Pass legislation that make the unions conform to some union type bylaws in order to exist. Make them pay 10% of their dues or they can’t be certified by the governnment union and therefore can’t enforce any of their rules.

How can the tax breaks and unemployment checks create more jobs than the 1,100 estimated to be created immediately by the pipeline, with possibly thousands more to come?
If our DOE and DEQ would get out of the way of our own development of gas and oil, many thousands of jobs would be created and we could become more energy independent and quit depending on Middle Eastern oil.
On top of that, he’s impacting Canada’s economy by preventing the pipeline construction and they are not very happy. Just another little misstep in our forign relations, but what the heck, he obviously knows best, especially in view of his 24/7 campaigning for re-election.

I would definitely watch a debate featuring Gingrich vs Santorum or Gingrich vs Santorum vs Bachmann. Finally, a chance for a conservative to torpedo a RINO and vault into the lead for real.

I am rereading Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”. Will any of my conservative brethren and sisters do the same and enact the rules the liberals abide by? Oh is it because the rules are beneath you? Well, you’re being crushed by them; learn your foe’s tactics and fight them with same.
I thought that was Rush, but at any rate, what got us Obama was a disdain for Bush and an ignorant electorate in the rural Midwest—which looking at Ohio and WI hasn’t changed a whole lot—and by older Americans who didn’t vote and/or traditional democrats who make excuses to get government checks and try and equate leftist socialists and Democrat experiments with Marxism to casting a vote for Harry S Truman or JFK.
Rove may have been smart about getting W re-elected, but he’s a tad more of a tool than he realizes.
Hannity isn’t favoring anyone yet, which is fine, but he’d probably settle for another McCain.
I can think of a couple of talk show hosts (among other Americans) who will go third party if the GOP picks a bunch of RINOS, even if it means re-electing Pelosi as speaker and B. Hussien/biden.
I’m hoping that Bachmann can make a good at it, but she needs to advertise agood economic plan.
I’m all for Canadian energy imports, but people should realize that the Keystone XL plan involves some eminent domain abuse on a rather spectacular scale. Please consider that before getting too enthusiastic about that particular project. Let’s get it done while respecting private property rights!

More unemployment benefits will help out our economy? Then why not just “do the right thing” and have the Gubmint send every man, woman, and child a $1 MILLION buck check every year? And Hilda’s Department of (Union) Labor shakedown lawsuit against Boeing’s 787 Dream Liner factory in South Carolina worked like a charm. Boeing had to cut an economically damaging deal with the Washington State Unions to keep from going bankrupt. With lots of lost jobs in the interim as the Jessie Jackson / Al Sharpton style shakedown and Willie Sutton type holdup played out. Don Corleone would be proud of this “wise” (aka biased) Latina. All I can say about this is: There’s every reason for Obama to believe American voters are stupid…playing to his base.
Actually, if he really believes this he may be one of the stupidest people in history. Even back in biblical times they knew better.
Remember the “give a man a fish and you feed him one day, teach a man to fish and he can feed himself for life”? The fact that handouts just creats dependent people is not a new idea.
Not that I am a religous person or push religion, but perhaps some people could learn something from reading a book once in a while, and of course, using their brain for something other than adding a golf score.
This is not suprising in the least: Obama is showing his economic philosophy. If he actually believed in the free market, and also believes that jobs created by the government (which are paid with tax dollars) are better that private sector jobs (that actually supply the tax dollars that pay the jobs he wants to create), then he is a financial dolt. But if he believes that all money really belongs to the government anyway, and all he needs to do is direct it to where it is best used, then he is a Marxist. I have yet to see anything come out of him that does not exhibit a belief that the government is the source of everything. That is bad enough, but what scares me is the number of people (voters) that have bought into it as well.
The payroll tax cut and the previous unemployment benefit extensions haven’t made any impact on the unemployment rate yet, so let’s keep them rolling. Meanwhile, the bystander-in-chief lets a project that would create jobs AND help lower energy costs sit on his desk.
I don’t blame the Canadians for opening a dialogue with China.
America needs a Decider back in the White House.
