Oops (video): McCain calls Romney “President Obama”

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 7, 2012 12:05 AM

These guys deserve each other.

Shaking my head…

Watch how Romney and Nikki Haley rush to correct the bumbling McCain as the crowd begins to murmur and boo after his flub.

Romney’s thinking: Mother fudge biscuits, someone get a cane and yank this saboteur off the stage.

You want to parade Big Government/Tea Party-trashing Tea Party poseur/loser McCain around on your campaign trail? You get what you deserve.

Freudian slip? Senior moment? Sabotage? Or, as someone on Twitter suggested, maybe a bit of “In vino, veritas?” You decide.

Okay, I’ve done some thinking and soul-searching, and I’m going to reverse my strategy.

I think all of us should change strategy.

“No battle plan survives contact with the enemy” (Von Moltke, I think)

I will *probably* vote for whomever the Republican nominee is, now. But, ONLY because of my shift in strategy.

I think we should all forget the White House. Focus instead on getting *conservatives* into the Senate and more of them into the House.

If we *conservatives* can take control of both houses, we can ride roughshod over whatever progressive is in the White House. And if we do that, we’ll want someone with the R brand, so that when things get better, Rs take credit, and maybe accept conservatives into the party.

So what we need to be looking at and talking about are Congressional races, House and Senate. Certainly look at getting the worse pols out of office, but more importantly, focus on getting conservatives past the primaries and into the general election.

If Romney/Santorum/Paul/Gingrich beats Obama, most people will have voted party-line just out of laziness. If we can make those Rs conservative Rs, we can gain control of Congress.

It’s a long shot, but it’s all I can think of doing. It’d help a lot of Ms Malkin and Doug would focus more attention on Congressional races in their blogs.

(By “we” in all the above, I mean “conservatives”, not “Republicans”).

We got off to a rough start to begin with – you being in Mich. and me being a Buckeye (natural enemies, lol).

You are correct though in your strategy, personally I would prefer the most conservative candidate I can get… but you can’t win a war by winning a minor battle.

If fully agree there. I join that call.

I would add that just as important as promoting conservatives, is exposing leftists. The more we can erode the Democrats’ support, the easier it will be to make their opponents as conservative as possible without fear of throwing the election to the Dems. Republicans won’t be under as much pressure to go “moderate” in order to compete for votes.

The Nomination Rules Are Rigged Against Grassroots Conservatives

Republicans all across America like to think of their coalition as the “party of Ronald Reagan,” but have you noticed how frequently the party nominates somebody who opposed Ronald Reagan in 1980?Since Reagan’s last nomination in 1984 the GOP has nominated four men to lead the Republican party into the presidential battle. Three of them were aligned against Reagan in the 1980 presidential nomination and the other was . . . John McCain.

I’m sorry, but there’s no way Obowtome won’t get 40-45% of the vote. All the moochers, parasites, union thugs, public employess, environuts, academicians, blacks and pro-illegal inmigration Hispanics will come out in droves for him.

If anything, you’re a little “conservative” with that estimate. RCP Poll Averages have Obamutt’s approval shockingly steady and solid despite the mayhem he’s created. Half the country still thinks this cretin is OK folks.

And there’s no way the GOP won’t get at least 20% of the vote. Therefore, that leaves your hypothetical third party conservative with only 35-40% of the vote.

Other way around. There’s no way a third party get’s more than 10% of the vote. Even if this fantasy party were charged up, staffed, organized, generously financed and had a solid candidate RIGHT NOW. There’s no time left. You are right about one thing – this (whatever) party is hypothetical. That is all it is and will ever be. What national candidate with enough cred and savy to make it work is on board with the idea? [chirp, chirp] Where’s the ground swell of support beyond the far right conservative camp? Nada. You’d be incredibly lucky to get 20%, which as you say re-elects the Socialist in Chief.

That leaves us with another 4 years of Obama. He’s just given us a taste of what those 4 years will look like with his 4 illegal recess appointments. Is that what you want? 4 years of complete lawlessness?

No. NO. And H#LL NO. NOT. NEGATIVE. NEVER. He must go. We vote principle in the primary. I’ve still got Santorum. If Romney’s the candidate in November, I hold my freakin nose and pull the handle. Aside from this cretin usurping the balance of power by executive fiat, he could likely have the opportunity to nominate two or three justices and stack SCOTUS with progs for the next 20-30 years. Kiss the Constitution bye bye. Can not – must not – will not happen.

Right now we need to lose the meme that Mitt is the defacto candidate. He can be beat. After Iowa ’08 it was Huckabee (34%), Romney (25%), Thompson (15%), McCain (13%), Paul (10%), Rudy (4%) – and two months previous, Rudy was the odds on favorite. Things can and will change. Watch for it. Work for it.

Yep, the world still ain’t fair and nowhere near perfect – and the GOP ain’t my cup of Tea… the question you have to ask yourself: Will you give up and let a confirmed socialist win or fight for survival?

I still believe the GOP can be reclaimed. The dems? Not so much.

But, hey just my opinion. The Tea party is making advances, however many will fall. These are politicians… not Saints.

Obviously, the Tea Party/Conservatives in Iowa are not up to the task for president. The vote is in and it went for establishment RINO’s. How well are Tea Party/conservatives standing up in the congressional races? So far, I am unimpressed.

Or perhaps it was just those Dem crossover votes trying to rig the election.

I think that Obambi will indeed lose in November. I also think that a) it will be a major surprise to him and b) he will not depart gracefully. Too many of us on the more Conservative side believe the Dem & media hype that Obummer has a large percentage of the vote locked up, when he does not. He will continue to have the support of the Black community, all of the ‘beltway”, but maybe half of the union, Hispanic, women, Jewish, and youth voters that came out for him the first time. He’s lost a lot of the luster and all of the hope & change crowd. The real problem for the country is in electing people that will reverse the policies and damage that he’s done

For those pushing for Romney may I remind you of a couple of things. I believe real conservatives will never vote for him. As governor, Romney appointed eight liberal judges without even giving a conservative a chance; he professed himself to be a “bi-partisan progressive” and that’s why the liberals would vote for him; He passed Romneycare mandating the people buy insurance whether they wanted it or not; He embraced “global warming” saying he believed it to be man made and that something should be done about it. How much more would you like to hear to know that he is not a “conservative” I pray that I do not have to make that choice when I vote.
