The 11 Other Solyndras

Yesterday there was another White House document dump regarding Solyndra’s bankruptcy filing just after the 2010 elections. While Solyndra is the crown jewel in the Department of Energy’s “you can’t make a green omelette without breaking a few hundred million taxpayer eggs” trial-and-error initiative, there are many other examples.

CBS News’ Sharyl Attkisson — who was one of the first reporters on the Solyndra trail — featured 11 other DoE loan recipients that either have or probably will take a Solyndra-style plunge and suck down $6.5 billion of taxpayer loans with them.

Video by way of Real Clear Politics:

*****

The DoE isn’t playing with their own money, so no credit risk is too great:

In the case of Beacon Power, even if the company ended up receiving the DOE loan guarantee, Standard and Poor’s analysis indicated it still wouldn’t be a smart investment. The credit agency’s ratings services division assigned Beacon Power a “CCC+” Final Rating.

Standard and Poor’s defines a “CCC” rating as “currently vulnerable” and “dependent upon favorable business, financial, and economic conditions to meet its financial requirements.”

Somebody needs to scrutinize the rigor in the Department of Energy’s process of rigorous scrutiny. Or maybe insisting that DoE officials must invest a dollar of their own money in these projects for every thousand dollars of taxpayer money would help tighten the vetting process.

Final note: Not every Solyndra employee lost his or her job. There are still 84 people working there — a couple dozen of which might even receive bonuses this year.

    ***
Marizela may have had something similar happen to her–a predator. And the Washington State / Canada area is gigantic compared to Aruba. With lots of heavily forested areas, lots of rivers / creeks / oceans / shorelines, etc.

Searchers missed finding Saundra Levy for a year in a small forested park in the Washington D.C. area. But in this case and the Aruba case–the murderers were finally apprehended for other crimes and were put in jail. The Aruba killer will rot in a tough cold Peruvian jail for 28 years if he isn’t murdered there. And the Levy killer is in prison for a long time also.

Here is another “Energy Loss” story.

Georgia ethanol plant sold, at taxpayers’ loss

This was done in 2007, the year the Ds took over Congress.

    Some key quotes…

The Bush administration’s Energy Department steered a $76 million federal grant to Range. The Department of Agriculture followed up with an $80 million loan guarantee. Georgia officials pledged $6.2 million. Treutlen County, one of the state’s poorest, offered 20 years worth of tax abatements and 97 acres in its industrial park.

Need to scan the story to understand this quote. He is investing in the place AGAIN.

“He (Vinod Khosla) takes government money, builds the place and takes the money and runs,” said Simons, ” . . . and now he’s double-dipping on government funds for round two…”

This stuff is supposed to be done under the radar. We can expose their treachery for everyone to see! FOX is doing it. CBS apparently is at least trying. I am encouraged.

Also encouraging is the Supereme Court decision this week about Obama’s insistance that Churches and Synagogues can’t discriminate against anyone in hiring a minister. In other words, if someone who is gay, or a pedophile, or an atheist, wants the job, they should be considered. The SC ruled that religious institutions are protected against Government interference in their decisions, as it is stated in the First Amendment. Obama is probably fuming over that one!! This also gives me hope that they will also be as fair-minded when dealing with the obamacare issue.

Where in the Constitution does it grant the government the power to take away our individual liberty this way? And to fund it by confiscating the fruits of our own labor? (Well, there is that 16th Amendment for that one…)

To force the country to go green this way would require a Constitutional amendment on a par with the 18th.

Quite right; this is what I’ve been referring to as millions of dollars of unreported in-kind campaign contributions from the Voluntary State Media.

The only real antidote will be a combination of having a GOP candidate with minimal personal baggage (none of them will be completely free of it), coupled with a remorseless, relentless drive to never, never let Obama get any distance from his record. The only way that Obama is ever going to “feel the pain” over his scandals is when in full view of the MSM, he is directly accused. Forcve them to cover it.

Some national GOP figure on an MSM show has to say, “There is enough solid evidence to conclude that the Attorney General was the approving authority on Fast and Furious that has killed hundreds of people.

Since the Attorney General serves at the pleasure of the President and would logically make no major decision like Fast and Furious without informing or consulting the President It is now time that we determine what did the President know and when did he know it. Further, we need to determine if authority to proceed with Fast and Furious came from the White House”

That should be repeated every time a GOP candidate is interviewed by the MSM.

Don’t hold your breath. The candidates don’t want to go there because it presents an opportunity to point out that Bush did the very same thing with ethanol and other special pet interests and that they voted for it.

They dread inviting a spotlight that shows that everyone but Ron Paul supported TARP and Porkulus. And it gets worse. Before approving TARP, Congress had rejected Bush efforts to authorize a GM/Chrysler bailout. Yet Bush illegally issued an executive order to use TARP funds (which were specifically authorized to be used only to relieve the banks of troubled assets) to bail out the two auto companies after TARP was approved. And Congress did nothing.

That is why the GOP is in such a mess. Obama is only doing things that Bush did before him and the facts bear it out. It’s the “pots vs pans” problem. We are being asked to vote for a difference with no distinction. It is a one-party system backed by the same money across the board. We hang on their words while the politicians deliver for the money.

I listen to the Sock Puppet and his minions squealing about off shore jobs, but the dirty secret is – his corporate minions off shore by contracting International Firms that specialize in Function and Job Contracting. Meaning that, any function that does not require outside field work, will be done off shore. I know, I work for a firm that does this and the only thing that lets me keep my job is I work out of of the office most of the time. All the paperwork, data bases etc is done in India.

This is a HUGE part of the problem!! And it all goes back to the unions. Add in the ever-increasing minimum wages here in the U.S., and it is no wonder we ship out the jobs that can be done much cheaper overseas. The unions give out so much money in wages, pensions and benefits that their members literally fight violently to keep the unions active (re: Wisconsin et al). They aren’t willing to give up even a small portion of their benefits. I’m talking about the government unions like teachers, police, etc. Their dues money goes to the union bosses who spend it on political favors, and it is the taxpayers that are on the hook to pay those enormous salaries and pensions. If they won’t give some of that up, this country is screwed. That is one of the biggest problems we face in this country…the POWER of the unions and how the democrats support them with all their might!

The minimum wage is also destroying jobs because the restaurants, etc. can’t afford to pay their dishwashers and other menial labor any more. High schoolers who need part time jobs, and college kids on summer break who need jobs to help pay their tuition, can’t find a job. It is a huge deck of cards that is ready to collapse.

The regressives tactics WILL destroy us. And they know it. So why do they continue to do the same thing? Because most of them want to take this country down and replace our system with socialism. Once that happens, they will have the power to steal everything we have.

I don’t believe it will come to that because of the Patriot spirit that still exists in the majority of people in this country. We will not go quietly into this madness.

It is so interesting to see that nearly half the country doesn’t even get that!! Thanks, public education, paid for with our tax money!!

What the he!! is wrong with this picture????

A perfect description of what we are going through, and the treatment will be very painful, recovery uncertain. We need to surgically remove this tumor from our country.

RedDog has brought up several times in the last few days about socialist need to control language.
The definition of socialism, years ago, included redistribution of money. Call it wealth if you wish. Now the definition of socialism is the government owns all property and the means of production, according to Merriam Webster.
The definition of Communism was the government owns all the property and the means of production. Now the only difference is that Communism now includes controlling a societies believe system.
Back to controlling language. The very basics of communication can be changed and influence just about anyone and anything. Like politics.
The idea for me is that change the definition of socialism then we don’t have socialism. Money going to individuals as welfare and companies is no longer bad because it isn’t socialism.

I watched Reid on Meet the Depressed this a.m. He really is prissy and girly when he talks. Just listen and watch him sometime, if you have a strong stomach. He sounds like a girl. Maybe that is why he misses his pomegranate trees and howls about a cancelled Cowboy Poets festival!

But even more important, he lies with every word. This a.m., as I mentioned before, he gave some great song and dance about the wonderful things Obama has planned, but it boiled down to wealth redistribution. All you need to understand what he is really saying is to be informed and then listen carefully to his words.

The people in NV who re-elected this TRAITOR are much to be blamed and they own this country an apology!!

I have already changed the definition of socialism in my mind to communism or marxism. Stronger terms and more descriptive of the reality. These tactics are not strictly socialistic. There are other countries with socialism that are not as corrupt as our leaders are here. Our leaders are more dictatorial and have decided that they no longer work FOR us, but are working IN SPITE of us! Our current “leaders” are out to take what they can get, obtain POWER over the masses, and keep us oppressed.

I will say it again. Taxation with MISrepresentation is tyranny. 1776 will need to be repreated before this is fixed. This amazing, fertile, beautiful, FREE country must not be given away out of apathy.

The dregs on our society who are not willing to do their share FOR this country need to step up or get stepped ON!

I wouldn’t be surprised if I heard that MM’s blog and the comments are being monitored by the government. Bring it on! We are still a country bound to our Constitution and we will not give up our rights easily.

I have had a LOT of attempts to inject virus into my computer through this blog. Fortunately, I have installed an excellent program that is stopping them. The program tells me every time there is an attempt and it seems those attempts are increasing.

I use a separate computer for my genealogy database and keep it backed up. I suggest that you all use a computer that would not house valuable data you would be devastated to lose. There are many creepy, evil people out there who want to destroy the conservative movement and they will inject viruses if they can. It is one of their low-life tactics.

I am at peace with the knowledge that they will pay for their treason one day. I have NO doubts about that. One day they will answer for their actions and it won’t be pretty.

Actually, it didn’t. That used to be called communism, before the politically correct banned the word: “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs”. Socialism was, and is, government ownership of the means of production (like GM). Since in practical terms the end result is a mixture of the two plus fascism (government control of production via a submissive, nominally private sector), the easiest all-encompassing term is “Marxism”. You could also substitute the term “feudalism”, because that’s what it amounts to (everything belongs to the king, and he apportions it out to his favored subordinates). However, the most common terms today are “liberal” and “progressive”. They all mean the same thing.
