Obama Admin. Rejects Keystone Pipeline; TransCanada Can Reapply After Finding Alternate Route; Updated

Hot off the wire from the Washington Post:
The Obama administration will announce this afternoon it is rejecting a Canadian firm’s application for a permit to build and operate a massive oil pipeline across the U.S.-Canada border, according to sources who have been briefed on the matter.
However the administration will allow TransCanada to reapply after it develops an alternate route through the sensitive habitat of Nebraska’s Sandhills. Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns will make the announcement, which comes in response to a congressionally-mandated deadline of Feb. 21 for action on the proposed Keystone pipeline.
In other words, the Obama State Department is allowing TransCanada to reapply after they find a route for the pipeline that avoids the delicate habitat where the endangered 2012 election lives.
Oh well, extending unemployment will create more jobs anyway according to the White House.
At this point, the “alternate route” for the Keystone project’s oil appears to lead to China.
Update: In a report released just yesterday, Obama’s own jobs council recommended increasing US energy independence in various ways, including pipelines:
President Obama’s jobs council called Tuesday for an “all-in approach” to energy policy that includes expanded oil-and-gas drilling as well as expediting energy projects like pipelines.
“[W]e should allow more access to oil, natural gas and coal opportunities on federal lands,” states the year-end report released Tuesday by the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
The report does not specifically mention the Keystone XL oil pipeline, but it endorses moving forward quickly with projects that “deliver electricity and fuel,” including pipelines.
Update II: Obama’s statement is here. This part was interesting:
This announcement is not a judgment on the merits of the pipeline, but the arbitrary nature of a deadline that prevented the State Department from gathering the information necessary to approve the project and protect the American people. I’m disappointed that Republicans in Congress forced this decision, but it does not change my Administration’s commitment to American-made energy that creates jobs and reduces our dependence on oil.
A commitment to reducing our dependence on oil. Not foreign oil, but oil. That certainly sounds like a judgment on the merits of the pipeline.

In a related story, the Obama administration announced another 210,000 jobs saved or created in the environmental, tourism and marketing industries in Nebraska’s uninhabited Sandhills region. When questioned about the figure, the administration spokesman declined to comment, saying that it represented the number of citizens in the area who voted for Obama in the last election, multiplied by a factor of 1,000 in keeping with the standard multiple for the “saved or created” metric. “This is yet another example of how successful the Stimulus package has been!”
Over on Gasbuddy, the liberals will be wailing and moaning about “greedy oil companies” and “speculators” as the oil price jumps again.
Who says Obama isn’t working to create jobs?
This alone will keep hundreds, if not thousands of lawyers, bureaucrats, NGO activists and environmental “engineers” busy for years. Forget all those jobs laying pipe and pumping oil. Don’t you have to, like, get dirty to do that? Not fit work for the American people. That’s what China and Mexico are for.
Does anyone actually think that this is anything other than part of the planned destruction of the USA?
TransCanada issued a statement that they have settled on a new route that will not pass through the delicate Sandhills. The pipeline will pass through Shanghai which is not quite as delicate as Nebraska. TransCanada stated that their projections for U.S. job creation will necessarily be revised downward. The Obama administration says this decision will have saved or created some 50,000 park ranger jobs.

Obama’s puppet masters see it this way. The unions will vote for Obama regardless of this setback, whereas the Enviromental whacko’s might vote for a Green party candidate if the pipeline is allowed. He knows he is in for a tough election and needs every vote. As usual, it is all about him and not what is best for America.

This is pure election politics. Obama can afford to throw this bone to his green supporters only because the GOP field is so weak.
Believe me, this pipeline WILL be approved early next year. So don’t expect a howl of protest outside of the campaign trail.
I have driven through Nebraska twice and both times, the only scenery worth noting was the “Ugly Trees National Forest”. Well, that wasn’t the name of it…that was the name I gave it. I even took pictures for my scrapbook of those trips because they were the ugliest, most twisted trees I had ever seen! Now, I’m not trying to trash Nebraska! I’m sure there are parts of the state that are beautiful. But why not lay that pipe through the Ugly Tree National Forest? Or is that protected land?
These people live in a bubble. The jobs commission basically told the administration that one of the things we need is cheaper energy, and the Canadians have threatened to send the oil overseas to China. And so they decide to deny permission to construct the pipeline to try to make a point to the Republican House that added to a law a requirement that they make a decision and not just sit on the application. And in doing so, they have spoiled their “do-nothing Congress” argument (“we sent you a bill designed to make you create jobs, and you killed it”).
They must be trying to be a one-term administration.

As a Canadian, I am truly disappointed that Obama has chosen blood oil from the Middle East over the ethical oil from America’s greatest ally and trading partner. Thank God Canada finally has a strong, conservative Prime Minister who foresaw this move and has already committed to finding other markets for Alberta’s oil sands. China is first on the list.
This slap in the face of Nebraska and their unemployed is the tip of the iceberg. Something is going on between the Obama administration and the Canadian government and it does not sound good for either of our Countries. Canada is not at all pleased with the Obama administration meddling and decisions on the pipeline. I have to wonder, what is the end game and why?
Not being raised as an American first shows…I don’t believe, nor have I ever, that Obama has had American’s best interests at heart. For him it’s simple…Socialism takes precedence over everything, including national defense.
How did we ever elect this clown? That’s an easy answer…the race allegiance vote, the bleeding-heart liberal vote, the pro-government handout vote, and moderate Republican who wanted to be “part of history” vote.
Have we learned yet that “words have meaning,” or that “feel-good elections always have negative consequences,” or to “beware of sheep in lion’s clothing?”
Of several things we CAN be sure:
You can’t fix stupid;
no Democrat is a conservative, despite claims to the contrary; and,
progressives cannot be trusted to do the right thing to ensure liberty and freedom, (nor do they learn history’s lessons).
Way to go, Mr. Manchurian candidate Obama! It’s going to take decades to undo all the harm you’ve caused to this country…and then there’s the financial burden you heaped upon us, from which we will never be able to resolve. Way to go….IFHTG!

Do you suppose BO is counting on this scenario? Gas hits $5.00 a gallon by midsummer and the masses get angry. BO decides that upon further review of the pipeline’s newest proposal and his new regulations in the gulf, “the one” decrees both the pipeline and gulf-drilling allowed. The market immediately responds with lower oil futures prices, gas prices drop, the people rejoice, BO wins re-election and immediately halts both the pipeline and all offshore drilling again. Any new pipeline and renewed drilling better not have any hidden caveats where BO can reverse such a decision.
We finally have a somewhat conservative Gov’t in Canada who is willing to work with us on oil and WE are the ones with the nitwit liberal president who tells them where to go. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!!
You would think the press might play up the differences in economy and gov’t. Conservative gov’t and the economy goes up, liberal and the economy goes down. The two countries have one HUGE border so can’t say weather is the problem.

a) Shipping oil in a tanker, through ocean waters, thousands of miles away from its final destination.
b) Running a stationary, miniscule pipeline (compared to the land that it will cross upon) on dry land from the closest proximity to market

The Canadian pipeline will go to the Pacific coast. Chinese tankers will accept the oil at some Canadian port. When winter arrives, the United States Coast Guard will break ice for the Chinese super tankers to arrive and leave. No charge for either country. That is the Democrat way.
Technically, it’s not our’s. It’s not on our sovereign soil, only passing ‘over’, we haven’t PAID for any of it (yet) and for all we know ( it will be placed in ‘storage’ until there’s an emergency? )

Impeachment is a dead-letter issue unless you have a Republican House and a Republican Senate (with a 60-70-vote super-majority to take into account the inevitable handful of GOP Senators who would still be unable to bring themselves to vote for it).
There is no way that you’re ever going to get the latter, so the whole exercise would amount to the same self-destructive waste of time it was with Clinton.
The only way that you’re going to get Democrats to stop putting the welfare of America in the backseat is to get them out of the driver’s seat — via the ballot box, not exercises in futility.

As I remember Obama’s oath was botched. It was later supposedly taken in the oval office, but without cameras. I think there was maybe one still photo taken with his hand on a book. That book could have been Webster’s Dictionary for all we know.

I googled it and there are links to it, but they all bounce. At the time I was trying to access it, I was subject to multiple website attacks blocked by my virus protector. Without much research on my part, I’ve always thought Obeyme has had some secret commitment to the Saudi Royal Family, and to the socialists running Brazil. He is clever in disguising his real loyalties to Muslim oil-producing countries. He has made deals regarding oil purchases from Brazil and particularly with the Saudis. I believe Obeyme is Muslim (and an Islamic sympathizer) as well as a socialist who is hiding his dealings with non-US oil producers.

RUSSIAN OFFICIAL: “OBAMA IS A COMMUNIST KGB AGENT”

Moscow, Russia – A Russian government official bragged that Barack Obama was a KGB operative and that his presidency had been planned since birth, an American physicist and government contractor reports.
Tom Fife, an American computer networking specialist and international businessman, reported the alarming facts about the Kremlin’s connection to Barack Obama. The boast from a Communist Party official reportedly occurred during a business trip to Russia, 16 years before Barack Obama was ushered into the presidency of the United States.
“It was like an elastic band snapping all the way from 1992,” Fife shakily admitted, upon recall of the exact moment he realized the Communist official had been telling the truth. “It was a very, very scary feeling.”
Fife, a physicist and computer engineer, had been traveling to Russia for a joint venture with a state-owned company when the shocking revelation was revealed to him. After several business meetings, Fife and his partner were invited to the company owner’s home at the end of the journey for a farewell dinner.
The owner’s wife was a Communist Party official and was “climbing two ladders”, as Fife puts it, one ladder being the KGB and the other being the traditional Russian society and business ladder. As the evening wore on, the female Communist official became increasingly agitated over a perceived slight and her emotions spilled over.
“You Americans like to think you’re so perfect!” she snarled. “Well, what if I told you that very, very soon you’re going to have a black president… and he’s going to be a Communist!”
The KGB operative was not finished. As she had now dropped this bombshell on the entire gathering, she felt compelled to continue.
“His name is Barack,” she sneered. “His mother is white and his father is an African black. He has gone to the best schools, he is what you would call ‘Ivy League’.”
Fife recalls being stunned and shocked at the words flowing from the Communist’s mouth as she continued to rattle off an incredibly precise set of details about this Communist operative who was to supposedly become president of the United States.
The Communist official then stated that he was from Hawaii, but would very soon be elected to the Chicago state legislature. This has turned out to be an eerily prescient prediction, as Barack Obama was not elected State Senator until 1996, a full 4 years afterwards, as he took Alice Palmer’s seat.
In 1992, Obama had recently graduated from Harvard Law School and accepted a position as a Fellow at the University of Chicago Law School.
Perhaps the most shocking revelation is how deep the Soviet Communist network has embedded itself into American political and educational culture. A quick review of Obama’s political “career” shows a track that was inexplicably greased, from his tuition payments at Columbia and Harvard, to a position at UOC Law School, to his eventual electoral “victories” at the Illinois State Senate, United States Senate, and U.S. Presidency.
Barack Obama’s parents ostensibly met in a Russian language class. This could have been where his mother was recruited by Barack Obama Sr, who could have already been working undercover for the KGB.
In order to brainwash the child from an early age, they surrounded him with diehard Communists and fellow KGB agents, such as Frank Marshall Davis, a known Communist Party USA official. The Soviet KGB directly funded the CPUSA. This would fit directly into what the Russian Communist said about ‘Barack’, boasting “He has been raised to be an atheist and a communist.”
“He will be a blessing for world communism,” Fife recalled her saying, after getting over the initial shock of hearing the current president was a KGB agent.
The creepy prediction stayed with the physicist upon his return to the United States, although he paid it no mind until he began to hear of an swiftly rising political star named Barack Obama. When Fife learned that this same Barack was running in the 2008 presidential election, everything snapped into place and he knew he had to tell someone.
Today, Fife admits that it deeply disturbs him and that he has never been able to shake the ominous feeling of foreboding about what comes next, now that the KGB official’s prediction has come true.
“It never leaves you, having someone tell you that they’ve engineered the takeover of your country,” he admits. “It’s really quite scary.”

… So, what does this conversation from 1992 prove?
Well, it’s definitely anecdotal. It doesn’t prove that Obama has had Soviet Communist training nor that he was groomed to be the first black American president, but it does show one thing that I think is very important. It shows that Soviet Russian Communists knew of Barack from a very early date. It also shows that they truly believed among themselves that he was raised and groomed Communist to pave the way for their future. This report on Barack came personally to me from one of them long before America knew he existed.
Although I had never before heard of him, at the time of this conversation Obama was 30+ years old and was obviously tested enough that he was their anticipated rising star.
