Trump to Make ‘Major Announcement’ in Nevada; May Endorse Gingrich; Update: Romney
**Written by Doug Powers
Before we chew on any of the possibilities, it’s important to remember that the next season of Celebrity Apprentice kicks off in just over two weeks, and The Donald isn’t one to let a prime promotional opportunity slip by.
With that little disclaimer out of the way, there’s this from KLAS-TV:
An advisor to Donald Trump says he will make a major announcement in Las Vegas tomorrow. Sources tell the 8 News NOW I-Team Trump will endorse Newt Gingrich.
According to Trump advisor Michael Cohen, “Donald J. Trump will be making a major announcement tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Trump International Hotel & Tower, Las Vegas, Nevada… The announcement will pertain to the Presidential race.”
Gingrich says he’s in the dark as to what Trump’s up to:
“I have no idea what The Donald is going to do,” Mr. Gingrich said. “He is always interesting, and I don’t know of anybody who does a better job of getting attention by announcing that he will presently announce something.”
How valuable would a Trump endorsement be for Gingrich? Trump’s not exactly a staunch conservative, and that’s the kind of support Gingrich needs right now — especially since Romney’s been saying things that move him to the center so much that Mitt’s in danger of being mistaken for a fulcrum.
Other possibilities: Trump will announce a third party run while pitching the new season of Celebrity Apprentice — or Trump might announce an endorsement of Romney while pitching the new season of Celebrity Apprentice. Trump might also pitch the next season of Celebrity Apprentice while announcing an endorsement for Rick Santorum or Ron Paul. Another possibility is that Trump will announce plans for a new show called “The GOP Candidate Apprentice” which will award a substantial donation to the campaign of the candidate who can most effectively promote Celebrity Apprentice.
Update: The AP is now reporting that Trump will endorse Romney… and promote Celebrity Apprentice, of course.
Update II: Yep, Romney it is. The continual media flip-flop provided a fitting lead-in.

I heard Trump on Hannity radio last week saying he is ineligible to run due to him having a TV show.
If you all remember, Cain had to get off the radio before he could file for a run.
*It’s just as likely Trump will endorse P-BO, as they are two peas in a pod, not necessarily an alien pod, but you never can tell!
doug, he could endorse obama, while plugging his show too?
It would be so sweet if he decided to challenge that rule.
Trump went bankrupt, then borrowed a ton of other people’s money to buy real estate and build his fortune back up again.
He isn’t as impressive as he believes himself to be. Yes, he is much more successful than I, but it isn’t as if he is an innovator or a brilliant mind.
Getting real estate right (over the long haul) 1 out of 2 times isn’t something to toot your own horn about.
Getting a little cynical there, Doug.
Trump (regarding Newt): He’s no Dennis Rodman but I like the cut of his jib!
Donald Trump would no doubt approve of Newt Challenging Florida to uphold the election rules regarding the appointment of delegates.
Mitt Romney looking more and more like Al Gore.
… been saying things that make it look like his see-saw is coming down on the left side every time …
Some may disagree and likely will but another Brown from the NE does not equal a conservative in office.
Just let me know when that guy who used to spin plates on the “Ed Sullivan Show” announces his endorsement. Topo Gigio endorsed Rubio last week. (He must like the name or something. I’d check his green card.)
The only real conservative in the race is RP. Santorum is the 2nd best option, but is far behind RP on almost every issue. Newt is disgustingly dishonest and a massive panderer. Mitt is a socialist, but at least he is less off-putting than Newt. Newt’s dishonesty reminds me alot of Obama.
Donald Trump could do what he does best, as found in OpenSecrets.org. He could hand out political cash donations to Democrats in Nevada while making an endorsement to a Republican… or an Independent… or a Native American reservation chief. Hya Hya Hya… boom boom boom… puff puff puff… chomp chomp chomp magic mushrooms. How much wampum you bring me, Ole Beaver Pelt Head?
The fact that no one can decide if Trump would endorse Obama or Newt should tell you it doesn’t matter.
And stop the cuts against Romney.
Romney is more solid than any of the others, including Santorum.
Just because you took up the Democrat talking points doesn’t mean you have to continue it after you’ve been proved wrong.
Let it go. Mitt is the most conservative one in the race and you didn’t get anybody better!
Yaaaaaawn. He could endorse Ron Paul or even RuPaul for all his endorsement means to me.
And where did that happen, pray?
Since it IS Trump, all of the above!
Wonder how heavily Trump is leveraged in his real estate holdings?
Is that part of McCain/Feingold or some unrelated deviltry?
In either case, I’d love to see someone take it on, and Trump might be a good choice.
I don’t dislike Santorum, but I feel that on a lot of issues but not all, he won’t have the stomach to make the hard decisions on he budget, nor resist the temptation to mess-up the constitutional rights of Americans at home with or without a crisis. My immediate concern is that when push comes to shove, Santorum will cave and endorse Romney or Gingrich-and accomplish nothing at the convention, and from then on we will be demanded to vote for socialist 1 or socialist 2 in November.
I also don’t necessarily buy Hot Air’s Ed Morissey’s argument that Rand Paul will act as a deterrent to Ron Paul going for broke and run an independent presidential campaign. After all, Sarah Palin wrapped herself around RINO John McCain from 2008 on, and the GOP still conpired to keep her pick for Alaska Senate, Joe Miller, a duly elected Republican for winning in favor of Murkowski anyhow. Given the Palin /Joe Miller experience, what incentive is there for Rand Paul to beleive he will not become a GOP-target anyway? In which case he can do as he pleases, and so could Ron Paul.
The most important reason IMHO why a third party conservative run couldn’t work is if that candidate doesn’t have the fortitude to finish the job. If he/she has the vision and the stomach, however, victory under these particular political times is in fact doable.
Just because the establishment seems to have made its decision does not mean that the people have. We are still in the primaries and the issues NEED to be discussed. Talking about people’s actions is no more a personal attack now than it is when discussing the democrats or any other person or party in politics.
Try to relax a little maybe. Nobody here is attacking you personally but it is an important election and the consequences will very likely change the face of our nation. My personal concern is that there is very likely no chance that Obamacare” will be repealed and with all of the caveats and room for arbitrary interpretation there, that along could be enough to destroy our economy. Kinda important in my book whether or not you are (or anybody else is) bothered by me saying so. Please rest assured it is not a personal attack on anyone but the lesser of two evils can no longer be a viable choice for any of us if we wish our nation to survive.
With Trump’s billions, he will more than match Romney’s fortune. Wonder how Romney will react to being carpet bombed as he carpet bombed Gingrich? I guess you Romney supporters (kind of like jock straps) do not care if Romney buys primaries and he surely cannot win them on policy or record. Gingrich was ahead in Iowa until Romney attacked him and he would have won Florida if Romney had not spent $15 million to sully Gingrich’s rep with lies.

Excellent point !
Eminent domain robber baron Donald Trump endorses Newt. Yeah, that’ll resonate with the Tea Party.
Obama has his own Celebrity Apprentice show too, which happens to be on every network news channel. He’s also the star of the show.
At least The Donald is somewhat entertaining.
Older Woman Customer: [to waiter] I’ll have what she’s having.
As Michelle said, in so many words, on F&F this a.m. “who cares what this publicity hound has to say?” One of Trump’s biggest contributions to the GOP was getting Obama to release another fake birth certificate. Way to go, Don!
If there is a sale at Walmart it’s a bigger story than anything dealing with Donald Trump.
Talk about a media created cardboard cut out. Donald Trump’s endorsement should carry about as much weight as mine. How in the world this guy sucks up so much media attetion is beyond me?
This is 21st Century “Bread and Circuses.” The sooner this blowhard gets the hell off the stage the sooner the country can start to address the election as a group of adults.
The first GOP candidate that says, “Who cares about Donald Trump?”, will get my praise.
I should have waited for your post and saved everyone some reading by just saying, DITTO!
Based on what in Santorum’s past? Obama is ripping our constitutional rights to shreds on a daily basis and you are wringing your hands about what Santorum MIGHT do? Stunning!
Trump is not in this to spend money. He’s in it to MAKE money.
Errah, This could be the kiss of death for Newt in lieu of Midas’s Touch. It Trump endorses Newt who’s next … Joe Rogan’s endorsemment??!!
I am PROUD to be of like mind with you, Flyoverman! You rock!
I am PROUD to be of like mind with you, Flyoverman! You rock! Which means, I rock too!
I really like Newt’s sense of humor.
Rather than President, I’d like to see him as WH Press Secretary. Press conferences would be a blast.
Don’t get excited folks . . . Trump is just going to announce that he and Newt use the same hair stylist.
Nope. It is now being reported that he will be endorsing the Mittster.
I wonder why everyone was reporting it was Newt? They even asked Newt about it. Now, on the radio, they are speculating it will be Newt. Again…who cares? But he does get us talking about him, doesn’t he? What a huckster!
Yep, it’s Groundhog Day all over again.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ…..
Phil – That is genius. In one little sentence you put the entire Trump mania into perfect perspective.
Like everybody else, I am breathlessly awaiting The Donald’s endorsement prior to making my commitment.
Sarc/
Wait, I voted two days ago. Please, PLEASE! let me change it if Trump doesn’t pick my candidate.
Yes, when Newt is on the next UFC Fight taking on the ‘Iceman’!
WOT but if you missed Paul Ryan’s questioning of Bernanke during the House Budget Committee hearings this morning, you missed a great discussion that clearly explained what is wrong with the Bernanke approach. If it is available on Youtube, I strongly recommend it. Great stuff. Bernanke just doesn’t sound as smart when being questioned point blank by people like Ryan and Ron Paul. Paul has been a star on the House Financial Services Committee for years, practically the only sane voice of reason.
I would love to see Paul (Ron) put in charge of the fed but sadly perhaps, given the choices by the establishment, my vote is leaning that way as well.
She could whip both Newt & Donald:

CNN sent a breaking news bulletin about 45 minutes ago saying that THEIR sources say Trump will endorse Romney.
To me, that makes more sense anyway.
This guy has a tv show?
‘the donald’, for those who care, just endorsed mitt!
L
@#48, sorry I must have misread the Fox alert, ‘the donald’ hasn’t endorsed yet.
L
who’s cnn?
The announcements about future announcements are hilarious! And these “Fox Alerts” are the funniest of all. They have breaking news that the breaking news that is coming has not been announced yet…stay tuned! By the time the HUGE announcement is made, everyone already knows what it is. I am convinced that human beings have all collectively gone insane. How else to explain all the stupidity???
What really scares me is that is the most sane explanation I have heard to date!
I hope the fact ‘the donald’ puts his obnoxious self behind mitt gets the same results as having bho get behind someone or visit a company? Reverse midis and usually craters the company or person!
L
Maybe The Donald is just announcing that he’s joining (or buying) Hair Club For Men.
Just as Ann Coulter proves that she is a fraud, giving cheers for RomneyCare. Now think of it. All Romney would have to do is keep ObamaCare minus the Mandates then make the mandates a condition for states to get federal aid and you have ObamaCare with a single payer option.
Socialism by any other name is STILL socialism.
Before you talk about Paul’s sane voice understand that Ron Paul has not been criticizing Romney at all. In fact we are finding that he and Romney are friends.
To bad Michelle and other conservatives have been so slow to get on the Santorum bandwagon. I fear it is much too late. And if he ever does become a threat, the Romney smear machine with undo him.
Maybe the Donald is going to announce that he will host a televised debate for the Republican candidates, and then he could questi… what? He tried that already and just one candidate said they would do it? Paging Emily Latila: Never Mind.
Rush is about to come on the radio, I can’t wait to hear his views on ‘the donald’ for mitt?
L
The longer this goes on the more the field sucks. Where’s the “start over” button? Does the economy have to totally collapse for any of the candidates to get their act together? Is Trump in the back room flipping coins to decide who to support? As if it really matters who he selects.
Update: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ……
I know, I know – I just come here to irritate everyone but I’m not smart enough to realize people won’t actually make any effort to click on my irritating links because I think everyone else likes conflict as much as I do and likes feeling angry as much as I do..I’m kinda screwed up that way.
No.
The most important thing The Donald did in his “important announcement” consists of what he didn’t say:
“I’m running for President.”
It’s doubtful that there were many, if any people still sitting on the fence about who to vote for, waiting for Trump to show them the way.
But he quite possibly could’ve messed things up considerably if he’d chosen to run.
A nothing endorsing a nothing. Who gives a &$#@?
“So enough about me, what do you think of me”? – Trump
A line I like to use on my wife when we’re out and I’ve just finished telling her how my day was: “Enough about me, let’s talk about you. Why do you think I’m so awesome.”
Strangely, she never finds it as amusing as I do.
Great Scott people, do any of you actually cast your vote on the basis of endorsements? I have supported candidates who have not been endorsed by some of the people I highly respect and many of them win. Being well known and highly respected does not in and of itself, assure wisdom. In fact, in some cases, it can be nothing more than a payoff, or a payback.
Funny you should mention him…he was a business associate of my father back in the ’60′s and 70′s with whom we got together on occasion….gotta be in his 80′s if he’s still alive. If he is, I can ask.
Sarah always brings something credible to the table. “Do your homework and figure it out for yourselves.”- Palin
Thumbs up
you would say that…you’re Year of the Horse, aren’t you?
I’m the year of the Horse also, but my wife never asks how my day went, I only get to hear about hers.
Santorum= Year of the Dog
very acute sense of justice, fiercely loyal to family, frequently pessimistic, least materialistic (which is odd, because Trump is a Dog too).
Romney= Year of the Pig
friends to everyone, strong sense of luxury, down-to-earth, unstoppable force once he has made his mind up about something.
Gingrich=Year of the Sheep
altruistic, unassuming, extremely combative when in danger, can spend more than he makes, frequent romantic troubles.
He is also the only reason Bernanke even gets hard questions about the Fed. The rest would continue to let Bernanke run amok as usual.
Rogue, is your wife a Horse as well?
Only my wife’s. She who must be obeyed.
Paul= also Year of the Pig
A President Romney wouldn’t be so bad if his administration looked like this:
VP: Jan Brewer
Sec State: John Bolton
Sec Energy: Sarah Palin
Sec Education: Bobby Jindal
Sec Def: David Petraeus
Nat Sec Advisor: Stanley McChrystal
Chairman, Council of Economic Advisors: Ron Paul
WH Chief of Staff: Mark Levin
AG: Joe Arpaio
Press Secretary: Monica Crowley
With House Speaker Bachmann,
and Senate Majority Leader DeMint.
Nope, she’s a Tiger, hence the scratches all over my….but I digress.
More Likely:
VP: Arnold Swartzeneger
Sec State: Hilary Clinton
Sec Energy: Ann Coulter
Sec Education: Jeb Bush
Sec Def: Lindsey Graham
Nat Sec Advisor: Michelle Obama
Chairman, Council of Economic Advisors:
Trump
WH Chief of Staff: Karl Rove
AG: Bondi
Press Secretary: Laura Ingraham
With House Speaker Boehner
and Senate Majority Leader Orrin Hatch
I can’t begin to tell you the effect your list had on me! All I can say is that list is a great substitute for a G spot.
Can I say that? And no, I’m not too old.
If Trump really wanted to get some attention, he’d endorse Santorum or Paul.
Rush just said ‘the donald’ told him during his show him he was going with mitt! Rush also said that if mitt isn’t the nominee ‘the donald’ still might go 3rd?
L
Yes I am.
I never said she asked.
happyscrapper:
No, you’re never too old. My mom will be 80 next month, and she could share stories with you that’ll curl your hair. Talk about TMI! YUCK!!!!
Trump can be the Czar Elimination Czar.
Send him from Department to Department and let him fire whoever he wants.
I’m going to start my own rumor.
Trump is going to unveil his new show: “Major Announcement!” featuring a Max Headroom-like military character named Major Announcement.
I have it on good authority that the female orgasm is a myth! The G-spot is nothing but a contrivance to torture men in hopeless undertakings of exploration! … Now where did I put my miner’s cap?
Killjoy! A guy can dream, can’t he?
BTW, Laura wouldn’t be bad as Press Secretary.
I had to laugh at that one!
Special guest: General Consensus?
Bill Clinton will bring the cigars for the after party soiree hosted by Colonel Ingus.
Sex is a race…winner gets the orgasm.
Rogue Cheddar:
On top of everything, you’re ignorant of biology and physiology. How did you make to this age?
John Deaux #92:
Wrong! You can always tie!
So, you can only win if you tie them up?
I’m sure he’d like to inspect Private Parts, too.
Only if you want to win twice in a row.
Rogue Cheddar:
Unlike you, I’m not a barbarian. And thank God, I’ve never found one that enjoyed that sort of thing.
first part incorrect, second part correct.
She would have no trouble telling the press the Tea Party can’t govern.
