HI 123UPNORTH–#32. The Army Draftees had an old saying, “The Army can’t make you fight. However, they can take you where the fighting is–and let you make your own decision!” Iran and the reconstituted Ottoman Empire II forming up now will bring this to fruition soon.

The Muslims have been bringing death and destruction to all around them for over 1400 years. It’s not about playing nice, avoiding conflict with them, being Politically “Correct” (aka stupid), etc. Their strange religion requires submission, conversion, or death for all non Muslims. Straight skinny from the Koran. Mutually assured destruction doesn’t work with crazy people.

Sooner or later Israel and / or the U.S.A. will have to take on Iran. The choice is before they go operational with their nukes–or after they bring Hiroshima and Nagasaki style destruction to their enemies–aka us.

Sooner or later it was necessary to take on Hitler. Appeasing him for 10 years made it far costlier in lives and treasure than it would have been if France had called up all its ex WW1 military after the first violation of the Versailles Treaty and driven into the Rhineland and Germany and finished off Hitler before he could complete rebuild the German military machine. The professional German military was scared stiff of this possibility. France didn’t–and the rest is history.

HI RAIDER_109–#87. I was amazed at the lack of proper perimeter security when the Lebanon Barracks was blown up. Even an Army Draftee like me was taught to think like the enemy–and to plan ahead if you wanted to stay alive.

First General Order–”Take charge of this Post and all other military property in view!” No order needed from a distant President. Vehicle trenches, barbed wire, barriers, .50 cal machine guns, bazookas, recoiless rifles, M14′s, grenade launchers, etc. all come to mind. Or the simple and effective RPG.

I thought there must have been some kind of dunderheaded higher command Rules of (non!) Engagement order that caused this disaster. Mud Marines are a lot smarter than that.

Flyoverman is right–unit commander failure or higher command stupidity.
