Quote of the Day: DWS Decries Those Who Impose Their Values on Others

By Doug Powers  •  February 16, 2012 10:30 PM

**Written by Doug Powers

Warning: Don’t read the following while drinking anything or you might accidentally power-wash your computer screen.

Here’s DNC Chair & Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on why Catholics who oppose the Obamacare mandate to provide “free” contraceptive & abortifacients are wrong:

“The flip side of this is that religious institutions shouldn’t be imposing their values, necessarily, on their employees who don’t necessarily subscribe to those values.”

After all, who are they to muscle in on turf over which the government holds sole dominion?

I am hoping that we, my wife and I and our children, can attend someday.

As of now we do not possess the financial means to attend this April 8-14, 2012 in Hilo, Hawaii.

Here is one of my favorites from a past Merry Monarch Festival. This features Merrie Monarch 2005 – Hula Halau O Kamuela – Wahine ‘Auana with Kea’li’i Reichel providing live music.

Kea’li’i Reichel is among my favorite musicians of all forms of music. We own several of his albums. These hula dancers did a very good job.

The grace, beauty, and charm of these dancers stand as a stark contrast to the vindictive, venemous, malevolent aire of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the demonic Democrat-Leftist mindset.

So far, we are using our words and logic to make our points. The left has no logic to use, so they will resort to violence. That is a big difference between us. Roland,

You are 100% correct on this.

The Catholic Church DOES push “Social Justice,” and Government involvement in redistribution of wealth.

Jesus the Christ preached that individuals are supposed to take the initiative to give of their resources to their fellow man or woman, not that Government is supposed to coerce it from people.

Christians, as a group, are the ultimate in generous with their time as volunteers, their money, and their belongings and other resources, in serving their fellow man or woman. They do NOT need government acting like Darth Vader or the Emperer, “Perhaps you feel you are being treated unfairly!” as Vader intimidates possible dissent.

    Conservative Hispanic,

I support Roland in his accurate depiction of this “Social Justice” issue from the Catholic Church.

Recently, from Rome itself, the Catholic Church DID push Social Justice, Government Redistribution of Wealth.

I also HAVE worked for more than a decade with the Catholic Church serving the poor, the hungry, the homeless.

My fellow workers, as well as our “boss,” or “leader,” who were quite generous and kind, DID push Social Justice.

I was terribly disappionted at this, for I saw first hand that Catholics, and Christians in general, were already extremely generous, giving of their time, money, resources, possessions, etc., volunteering to help the less fortunate, year round, and I saw this support manifest as poor and homeless people were fed, clothed, and sheltered, year round.

In year round, and anual food drives, fund raisers, etc., hundreds, and even thousands, in the area around our major city, came out every year, every time, to raise money, donate money, donate food, clothing, and on and on.

During the flooding throughout the nation as a result of various hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters, Christians of various demoninations left their families and jobs and spent weeks at these disaster areas, all soggy and decrepit and damaged, risking their health and lives, helping the victms of these catastrophes.

I have seen with my own eyes, and via working with them, that Christians, including Catholics, are wonderful, generous, kind hearted, patient, compassionate people, whereeas the Catholic Church leadership and many of their congregation, and even some in other Christian denominations, do make the mistake of believing in, and preaching “Social Justice,” an inhumane, malicious practice.

That it sounds like bigotry to you is because you fail to understand the nature of large and powerful political organizations (all large organizations become political), and you confuse the good things the Church does with the nature of what the Church and its leadership (when I refer to the Church, I am referring to its leadership … if I was making reference to all Catholics, I would say do) really are, on balance.

The purpose of the Catholic Church is not the advancement of individual liberty. Its purpose is the advancement of the power of the Church and of Catholicism, as it is understood to be by the leadership of the Church.

I have said repeatedly in my comments on this blog that I would love for the Church to be taken over by the likes of you, people who would correct its course to recognize the importance of things like sovereign borders and property rights and low taxes and small government to the well being of humanity, but if you think that is where the Church is now, you are dreaming.

Democrats assume the easy availability of abortion has no effect on the morality of the mothers, on balance. That is a false assumption.

Right now, sex is entertainment, and motherhood is a choice disconnected from that entertainment.

If abortion was illegal, women would be, on balance, more careful about getting pregnant, and they would view the relationship between sex and motherhood differently.

I know many single women who got pregnant, didn’t want to get married to the “cad” and went to SS,signed up for free prenatal care and the baby is delivered on the government dime and provided free health care through Medicaid indefinitely.

If you don’t want to be called a bigot, then preface your opinions with:

Some in the Catholic Church’s hierarchy….

And don’t call me a Democrat.

I see. It’s okay for you to call me a bigot because I am not tediously careful to precede my every use of “the Church” with a politically correct explanation (and one that is deceitful, at that, pretending that it is only “some” in the hierachy, rather than the controlling political power there) that I am not referring to all members of the Church (something that should be obvious to anyone with at least a room temperature IQ), yet it is bad for me to call you a Democrat for casually slinging around the accusation of bigotry.

    Got it.

I guess when commenters here refer to how stupid the GOP is, they are saying all Republicans are stupid, unless they preface what they say with “some in the Republican Party’s hierarchy…..”

Apparently, you don’t get that is SOME people in the Church’d hierarchy that are full of it. Unfortunately these SOME appear to hold the balance of power in the Church right now. But you can’t (or won’t) make the distinction. Just saying “the Church” looks bigoted. And if the Catholic Church really has so much political power, how come the haven’t made abotion illegal again? And what about gay marriage? And illegal immigration? I mean, we have Senators, Reps, even several SCOTUS members. It should be as simple as the Conference of Bishops snapping their fingers. but it isn’t taht simple.

Because they’re not the only ones with a lot of power. No one said they were all-powerful, just very powerful. There are other very powerful forces in our society also. When the Church joins forces with them, that creates something extremely formidable.

HI CONSERVATIVE_HISPANIC–all over the place! My Episcopal Church has also signed onto the “liberation” theology at the national level. Last Sunday we got a letter from our Diocese Bishop telling us to get ready for the coming “blessing” of same sex marriages! And promising us that no parish would be forced to accept this abomination (yet!).
    ***
The two biggest and most financially successful El Paso, Tx. Episcopal Churches bailed and are buying their properties from the national church. And these two churches are filling with like minded people who have left the remaining struggling churches still affiliated with the national church.
    ***
I had the sickening feeling again when I saw Episcopal Priest Katherine Ragsdale interviewed by Laura Ingraham on the Fox T.V. Oreilley Factor show last week. Googling her name brought up a photo of her ordination by one of the openly “gay” Massachusetts Bishops. This woman is married to another woman, and the Bishop is married to his same sex partner. An open supporter of abortion–calling it “a blessing”!
    ***
I know how Martin Luther–an honest and highly successful Catholic Priest–felt when he realized that the old corrupt Catholic Church of his time wouldn’t reform and start following God’s rules. Instead of following Man’s (Satan’s!) desires. Their evil forced him–and many–to vote with their feet and leave.
    ***
All as predicted in the Bible. And as Joshua (24:14-15) said, “Now fear the Lord and serve Him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Egyptian River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then chose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…..But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
    ***
Like Yogi said, “Deja Vu all over again!” Too bad that so many of our church “leaders” are incapable of reading and understanding the Bible. Or of serving The Lord faithfully. The lay people do a lot better job than the church management does. Somehow I don’t think that The Lord is going to be too pleased with their “sophistication” when judgement day arrives.
