Gallup: Unemployment Climbing Back to 9% for February
**Written by Doug Powers
One of the many challenges for Team Obama this year is to try and lower expectations from 2008′s “yes we can” down to a slightly more reality-based “re-elect me and I’ll try and get you your house back.” The motivation for doing so comes with the knowledge that, no matter how much lip service is paid to “economic recovery” or how the media helps do the spin, it just doesn’t seem to be happening — at least not at a pace fast enough to keep Obama from having to move back to Chicago next January.
From CNS News:
Unemployment in the U.S. rose to nine percent in mid-February, up from 8.3 percent a month earlier, according to a new Gallup survey. The polling company said this suggests that it is “premature” to assume the economy will not feature prominently in the 2012 election season.
Gallup figures typically provide an indication of what the government will report at the end of the month.
“The U.S. unemployment rate, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, is 9.0% in mid-February,” Gallup said in its mid-month unemployment survey, released on February 17. “The mid-month reading normally reflects what the U.S. government reports for the entire month, and is up from 8.3% in mid-January.”
Couple this with the outlook for gas prices this year and Obama risks seeing what’s left of his favorability crumble like peanut brittle in Michael Moore’s back pocket.
And then there’s this addendum from Gallup:
“Regardless of what the government reports, Gallup’s unemployment and underemployment measures show a sharp deterioration in job market conditions since mid-January.”
It’s almost as if Gallup expects the government to go extra overboard massaging and spinning the numbers as the election closes in. They wouldn’t do that, would they?

The leftist government has a better self-defense mechanism than a skunk, and with similar results.
I do not believe for one minute the week and monthly jobs numbers, ever! They are sent out to make bho look good and then revised. The whole blooming lot of them lie their fool heads off and by golly there is a portion of American’s that believe every word outta of bho’s lying mouth! The bhopress does their best to keep the truth from those who watch all channels but for Fox(they do try to give the true facts) IMO.
L
Of course they would. They would sell their Mothers to the Arabian Sheiks to see that Barry was re-elected. That might come to just that happening.
exactly.
Of course. Left out are those whose unemployment benefits have expired, people who are marginally employed, part-time, those not eligible for unemployment, can’t find a job and have given up.
Double that 9% and it would still be an under-count, nationally.
That’s more like it for his devoted followers.
There is not ONE thing, not one, that this Administration has done well. Okay, I’ll take that back…they have managed to get an incredibly stupid, vapid, egomaniacal press to tell an untold number of lies. Any American, at this point, who votes for this entire cadre of dem ijjiits is a traitor as far as I’m concerned.
What’s going to be even worse, all the military who will be un-employed with the help of bho and team downsizing the military. Gads, it breaks my heart that is happening to them. That would add to the number big time I would think?

Oh…forgot. That a picture of Obeyme mopping his brow and feelin’ sorry for us. I call B.S. – he’s laughin’ so hard, he’s crying cuz he thinks we’re all a bunch of dummies.
I am waiting for Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and company to spin this as good for the economy as it means that those workers who fell off the unemployment rolls due to benefits running out are eing replaced by the newly unemployed….after all Pelosi told us that people on unemployment stimulate the economy.
Don’t Obumer and crew always adjust the numbers for the previous month to, normally, a worse number?
And no one notices.
I’d prefer he move to Leavenworth for hard time, but I guess I’d settle for that.

Send him to GITMO, he has more in common with the crowd being incacerated there than he does with the crowd being incacerated at Leavenworth.

The unemployment ratw will continue to improve to 6.0% by the November election. Just keep taking more people out of the work force by declaring they gave up and like magic things get better.
If Obama is re-elected, four years from now in February 2016 the unemployment rate will be 5.5% with a total of 358,350 total workers in the work force. /sarc
If you want to know how bad it is, watch the first 15 minutes of GMA on ABC. They will want to talk about a midget having an affair with an NBA player before they want to discuss anything of substance about the economy, energy, gas prices, world affairs, etc.
They will milk Whitney Houson’s daughter as a distration for the next 8 months, if they can.
Architecture is a critical economic indicator. People wanting to build talk to an Architect 6 to 18 months before concrete is poured or drywall is hung.
After a brief uptick for a couple of months, things are now slower than they have been in the past 4 years.
Buh Bye D’Ohbama.
They left out a word.
New York spot price for heating oil when Obama took office was about $1.40 a gallon.
It’s now almost $3.20
A 228% increase to heat by business thanks to Obama.
I disagree. Obama will still be at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. this time next year (or on vacation somewhere nice) – at least if the RNC has anything to do with it. Their strategy for losing this election is nothing short of amazing.
Take a look at the Employment-population ratio for those 16 years and over.
When Republicans turned over majority control to the Democrats, at the beginning of January 2007,
the December 2006 numbers show that 63.4% of the Age 16+ population was employed.
After just three years of majority Democrat control,
the December 2009 numbers show that number had dropped to 58.2%, and has not really improved over the last 2+ years!
The highest it reached in the last two years was 58.7%, and it’s currently back down to 58.5%.
We’re down around 5 points (and on a percentage basis, we’re down 8.2% (58.2%/63.4%)) from when the balance of power shifted to Democrats, and we’ve stagnated at the bottom for 2+ years without any recovery.
OT but critically important regarding Obama’s gutting of our national defense. This guy is a menace and a traitor. Check out Frank Gaffney’s radio website.
How important is air superiority? Since 1950, the enemy, from the air, has never attacked US forces. The F-15 has never been shot down in air-to-air combat and the F-22 is by far the most dominant plane in the skies. As a result of these defense cuts, the US will be left with around 100 combat capable planes over the next three years. The Obama Administration has decided to scrap the Global Hawk UAV system, which can stay on target for upwards of 32 hours, and instead wants to use the 50-year-old U-2, which can only stay on target for approximately 8 hours. General Tom McInerney (USAF Ret.) gives his analysis on the future of America’s air prowess.
RedDog,
With rare exceptions, a Retired Flag Officer will always give you the gospel truth.
Active duty flag officers are just politicians in uniform.
With this kind of record, if the opposition GOP does not have the smarts or balls to counter these street rats then….. ??????
Based on Obama’s recently submitted budget and treatment of our national defense posture alone, I am going demand my congresscritters conduct hearings to address possible malfeasance of office and ultimately impeachment hearings if warranted. This man is clearly in violation of his constitutional oath of office right now. He has got to be driven from power.
Obowmao campaign slogans:
‘Re-elect me, I need another vacation!’
‘Re-elect me, I’m still trying to break one hundred!’
Obama is simply waiting patiently for Bush’s third term to be over – then he’ll show us something!
I’m half tempted to rent billboard space myself on an interstate highway trumpeting stats like this. The Vichy/Quisling Media sure won’t do it. They are nearly completely compromised.
I’m serious, I think we are in the middle of a soft coup.
Red Dog, its all part of the plan to take America down a notch or two. In their minds it’s just not fair that the US is the sole “Super Power”, the strongest economy on earth, and the arbiter of good and evil. This country is in the hands of its sworn enemies. The ignorant among us fell for the show and the story and the only hope we have now is that enough of them finally woke up. Our government is full of traitors that need to be dealt with at some point. I just hope we have the opportunity to recover our nation and punish the traitors.
Or to heat the home of an elderly widow on a fixed income. We should drag these victims in front of the camera the way the Democrats do.
Food and fuel prices with the related are crushing the low income and the poor. Where is the MSM in their coverage of this?
Do not answer; rhetorical question….
That’s Barry’s 2nd term.
“…the renewal of the defense industry will become “a locomotive that will pull the development of various industries: metallurgy, mechanical engineering, the chemical and radio-electronic industries, the entire IT and telecommunications range.”
[He] said active investment in defense will provide enterprises of these branches with “resources for technological base renewal,” adding that the task is to multiply …economic power, increasing its defense capability in order to ensure the country’s sovereignty, respect from other countries and peace.”
Sounds reasonable to me. Oh wait – that was Putin, not Obama.

Hey, back off. If Obogus hadn’t saved/created/immagined +/- 500 billion jobs the unemployment rate would be 150%. The man’s a freakin hero!
I’ve been on both knees for years, and it has nothing to do with DADT.
O/T, but have you seen the picture of Michelle at the top of the blog? Goodness she is a lovely lady! Conservative ladies are by far the best looking of the bunch, IMO.

I think this is a prime reason we need to repeal the 17th amendment regarding the election of senators. The general election of senators neutralizes the power of the states and plays into the hands of those with communist sensibilities. There is a reason they call the House of Representatives “The Peoples’ house”. The Senate should be focused solely on the interests of their respective states.
Hang tough brother.
The economy will get worse. We are looking at 2% growth or less over the next three quarters. Gas prices are also on the rise.
While I wish conservatives were better at getting out their message, reality is going to be against the left as it always is.
Rasmussen polling also has shown Santorum and Romney closing the gap on Obama, but what’s more important is that Obama is below 50% in both match-ups.
My wife keeps asking when things will get better. I tell her the moment Obama is out of the White House.
Believe it or not we do have a privately owned billboard here in WA ST along I-5 (around the Toledo area) that the owner puts of differnet messages (monthly I believe) pointing out things that the media will not.
Here is an old side by side comparison picture of Republican Women vs Democrat Women.
O/T….Carney says that Obama didn’t turn down the Keystone pipeline…Republicans did.
And the spin keeps on going and going and going and going….
I came to that same conclusion a long time ago.

The excuse of the leftist media not covering is not cutting it anymore!
Speaking of the I-5 billboard (it is in Chehahlis not Toledo like I thought) here are some pics of the messages on it.
I remember that billboard. He always had something politically incorrect to put on it. I think it was around Chehalis.
I saw it everytime my wife dragged me down to Clackamas Town Center to spend my money on the rug-rats.
I remember that Clackamas had an ice-skating rink, and they would clear all the kids off of it so that Tonya Harding could practice. This was before her fall from grace.
Cowering….
So if the Feb U3 cooked unemployment rate is going from 8.3 to 9%, then that would put the U6 real unemployment rate up from 15.1 to 15.8%.
And those are the facts.
O/T. but Mrs. CH and me changed our registration so we can caucus on Super Tuesday. 7:00 P.M. sharp!
Santorum/Rubio 2012
Hey, Obastard can LIE, LIE, LIE, but real people out in fly-over country know things are BAD, BAD, BAD where we are at. Only the STUPIDEST of the STUPID (mostly DummycRATs) actually believe the assinine 8.3% number. Those who have relatives and friends STILL living in their basements KNOW that nothing has gotten any better. Just hope they remember that on the first Tuesday in November.
Senator Zell Miller (D-GA) wrote a great book years ago about how the 16th and 17th Amendments were the beginning of the end of our Republic. Once the Feds could regulate winners and losers via an Income Tax, we lost most of our independence. Then, when the election of Senators was nationalized, we lost the rest of it!
Obama Talks about Standing Up While Sitting Down
Obama 2012 has a new campaign ad and it’s pulling out all the stops. President Obama, First Lady Michelle and their two adorable (and previously off-limits) daughters Sasha and Malia are pictured.

..let’s hope the Obamas keep right on sitting, but do it somewhere besides the White House; maybe then all Americans can finally move forward by standing up for themselves.
Damn Republicans: now look what they have caused the unemployment rate to increase to!
Everybody remember and repeat frequently: Vote Obama in 2012! Because 9% unemployment and $15T in debt just aren’t enough!
*Is it okay if it is Lincest?
*I think it is fair to say once the GOP picks their candidate, all focus will be aimed at P-BO and the Demoprogs as it relates to the truth on jobs and the economy, and it is truly an ugly picture; We must remove the enemy in the White House come November!
If the unemployment rate is going up to 9%, there will indeed be some very serious data massaging taking place real soon like. And a rather quick, vigorous massage at that. Frankly, and I’m sure I’m in the minority on this as I frequently am, the only hope I see for a Republican victory in November is a bad economy getting worse for all to see.
We have nothing else to offer: Santorum, Romney? Oh, please. Santorum, BTW, appears to have peaked — sorry, folks — so that once again Romney will emerge on top with only Gingrich left remaining as our last hope. Or Jebidiah Beauregard Bush III (I know, not his real name, but I like my made up one much better) rides to the rescue.
It’s enough to make a saint swear. Sheesh.
The other part of the Gallup article is that underemployment is up to 19%.
I’ve also heard housing values have gone done 33% since 2009, and the percentage of homeowners has gone down to the lowest level since the early 1960s.
Oh, wait. Some things are up. Like gas prices, and food costs, and foreclosures.
Yeah, Obama is a Progressive – Progressively Downward for all of us.
beenthere – Santorum has peaked??? I think you’re a Lib plant to spread pessimism among us Conservatives/Repubs/Tea-Partiers/Evangelicals (all of which I am). Santorum is ahead, perhaps slightly in Michigan, and is only a bit behind in Arizona.
Regardless, if Santorum, Romney or anybody else is the GOP candidate, we will support him/her 100% – Obama is an Abomination (Obamanation, so to speak.) He is ripe for removal.
I think if we nominate even a ham sandwich, we can win the election.
But I prefer Santorum to Romney or a ham sandwich.
I don’t trust anything from them at this point. I believe that if counted accurately, the U3 would be 10-12% and the U6 somewhere between 20-25%.
While I applaud Gallup for not running the usual Marxstream Media lie that the employment outlook is improving, their statement is still misleading and is sugarcoating the real conditions. There has been a sharp deterioration in job market conditions since mid-January? No, there hasn’t. Some people who worked in retail outlets during November and December were let go after the holidays just the same as any other year.
The sharp deterioration in job market conditions started January 20, 2009, when a guy who was elected on a platform of transforming America took office. He’s lived up to that promise every day since. No business owner is going to hire someone in the current situation unless it’s absolutely necessary to keep the doors open because Obama has introduced FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) as the standard operating procedure in the marketplace.
People without jobs aren’t getting hired and the government is cooking the books to reduce the unemployment rate by defining someone as unemployed only if they have looked for work in the last 4 weeks. The real unemployment rate when you include all people actually unemployed, plus people working part-time who want a full-time job, is north of 20%. And that’s not the whole story. Most of the jobs being created now are entry-level with no career path for meaningful raises and promotions that permit people to make real progress (not just keep up with inflation) throughout their working careers. All but a few people in the 25 – 40 age bracket who have jobs will never see the type of earning potential over a working career that existed in the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s. I’m at the tail end of my working career, and I’m sad for those now entering the workforce or just a few years in. Today, there is nothing even close to the job market conditions that used to exist for the broad spectrum of workers. So Gallup is still not being truthful about the real situation when they talk about a one-month deterioration. As if there is a likelihood that in another month, we will all be singing Happy Days Are Here Again. We won’t be.
And no doubt deflower the wives and daughters of right-wingers everywhere. If I’m sufficient to demoralize the forces of all that is good and pure, the Right really is in trouble.
As for walking all over Obama come this November, get real. Obama has a billion dollar war chest, a divided and confused opposition, and not to mention a united party behind him that has overseen a huge growth in entitlements and dependency. I think all those will aid his efforts this coming election day. Barring a miracle, the only question is how big Obama’s landslide will be.
I am wondering why the unemployment rate is based on the number of people collecting benefits, rather then the number who have no jobs? It should be called the jobless rate, rather then the unemployment rate. Inclusive of those who are suffering mental anguish and are applying for and/or are receiving SSI, along with the parasitic junkies who have been receiving it for years.
So, my fellow Americans, “Who ya gonna vote for, me, who is giving you everything for nothing, or the other guy, who wants to take it away” ?
You managed to get a lot wrong in only one post. Nice work.

HI REDDOG–#24. Yes–gutting our Army and Air Force will hurt the U.S.A. bigtime. Only 100 first line fighter planes will make it impossible to defend our country at home–let alone to project power overseas.
***
But these cuts pale in comparison to Comrade Obama’s plan to scrap 80 percent of our deployable nuclear bombs and warheads. Already in service and paid for. Without any “gains” of givebacks in reducing the size of our enemies nuclear arsenals.
***
WWTMCD? works for me. What Would The Manchurian Candidate Do works for me. And it will cause the deaths of millions of deaths of draftees if we ever get into a real shooting war somewhere. We should be using the old Canadian Mountie rule, “Never send a man where you can send a bullet!”. Or a sub launched missile with a lot of nukes on board.
