Well, I am so happy that they do it now. I have relatives who are still in the service, and I appreciate all who do take the time to acknowledge their life and their service to our country.

The standing ovation and applause went on until the last of these fine young men and women had disappeared from view. It wasn’t just a few people, clapping and cheering, either. Most passers-by stopped and joined in.

Even though it was something of a grim day for me, this little outpouring of sincere gratitude and appreciation brightened it considerably.

When I flew through DFW in 2004 on my way home on midtour leave from Iraq we were greeted the same way.

Another note is that when we were taxing to the jetway they had two fire trucks out there to hose down the plane to wash the plane clean from the ME.

The lefties are still at that kind of crap today. Many on here have heard encounter at Sea-Tac in the summer of ’04 while coming home on midtour, but it is worth telling again.

I had some early 20′s college girl at Sea-Tac come up to me (she was there putting up anti Chenney posters in the airport). She walked right up to me and called me a baby-killer. I looked her in the eye and told her she must be mistaking me with someone else, becuase I do not believe in abortion and then I walked off.

Sadly, the great wet north is like that.

I remember a flotilla of small boats trying to block the Hood Canal when my boat was pulling in. Captain rang up ahead 2/3 and kicked up a rooster-tail.

A few long-hairs in a Boston Whaler is no match for a 560 ft. long, 17,000 ton Trident sub. They got out of our way faaaaaast.

Good to see the appreciation. Being a Vietnam Vet, we did not witness anything so heart-warming. The spit and tormenting that was launched at us left a little resentment in me for having to do my duty. Then again, we had the draft back then and had no recourse but to go and serve. or may not have always.
    Take what they have left
and what they have taught you
    with their dying
and keep it with your own.
    And in that time
when men decide and feel safe
    to call the war insane,
    take one moment to embrace
    those gentle heroes
    you left behind.

Aaahhh, yes, it brings back fond memories for all those who stopped and clapped for me and my fellow military men and women at airports during the Viet Nam war…… oh, wait. That didn’t happen?

I’m sorry, babiesgrandma, I truly am. My only defense is that I was 13 years old when the war ended, and I had no way of knowing the “reports” I was receiving from my television were false propaganda put out by treasonous enemies of the republic. All I can do in penance is to fight for the truth of that war to overwhelm the myths and lies that have been perpetrated with regard to our troops and allies.

(Lies that continue on into today as filthy propaganda garbage like the movie “Avatar”).
