Thursday morning link round-up

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 23, 2012 09:00 AM

My kids are on a two-hour snow delay, hubby is recuperating from double hip labral surgery, and I’m on column deadline. So here’s a quick morning link round-up for y’all while I tend to the Malkin Family Chaos. ;)

Employee bonuses for bankrupt Solyndra have been approved.

In Colorado, state capitol officials have broken precedent and moved Barack Obama’s photo to the front of the presidential gallery line.

Here’s the transcript of the 20th GOP presidential debate last night. Bottom line: No game-changer.

Here’s John Hayward’s take on the debate.

Two American troops were killed at a U.S. base by an Afghan soldier amid rioting over burned Korans. In Arizona, 7 U.S. Marines were reportedly killed in a helicopter crash in Arizona. Keep them in your prayers.

    Questions:

    1) Would that make that “Afghan soldier” a Jihadist?

    2) Should another individual, who has recited the Shahada in Arabic and said that his journey is “shared by all who’ve ever sought to apply the values of their faith to … bring an Empire to its knees”, also be considered a Jihadist?

    3) How does it make you feel to know that that individual is currently acting as the Commander in Chief of our entire Armed Forces?

    4) Why is burning Korans lead condemned by our military, but burning Bibles is Approved and performed by the U.S. Military?

    Food for thought:
From a Book called “Coming Apart” by Charles Murray.
“Murray’s thesis is that American society is largely becoming untethered from its virtuous moorings, and the phenomenon is most definitely not explained by prejudicial stereotypes. In fact, Murray says it is as much a white experience as it is a minority or lower economic class experience.”

“Murray cites considerable statistics that indicate that a pernicious divide is growing in America that is based more on cultural disadvantages than economic ones. He sees a minority that values marriage, education, work, faith and community and a growing majority that does not — and believes the disparity has serious consequences for our nation’s future.”
I think this can be catagorized as Social Conservatism. Niow I am not taking sides with anyone in the repub field but when anyone brings up the destruction of Americas Social Fabric – this book just may shed some light on this.
On top of work, faith etc – I will add tax paying, law abiding……..

Here is a bit of good news:

Judge: Washington state cannot force pharmacies to sell emergency contraceptives

The state’s true goal in adopting the rules at issue was not to promote the timely access to medicine, but to suppress religious objections by druggists who believe that such drugs can have an effect tantamount to abortion, U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton said in his ruling Wednesday.

Sound a little bit like HHS and the contraceptive mandate doesn’t it.

    Here is more on it:

Washington’s rules require that pharmacies stock and dispense drugs for which there is a demand. The state adopted the dispensing regulations in 2007, following reports that some women had been denied access to Plan B, which has a high dose of medicine found in birth-control pills and is effective if a woman takes it within 72 hours of unprotected sex.

State lawyers argued that the requirements are legal because they apply neutrally to all medicines and pharmacies, and because they promote a government interest — the timely delivery of medicine, including Plan B, which becomes less effective as time passes.

But a pharmacy and two pharmacists sued, saying the rules infringed on their religious freedom, and the judge agreed.

The state allows all sorts of business exemptions to the rules, he noted. Pharmacies can decline to stock a drug, such as certain painkillers, if it’s likely to increase the risk of theft, or if it requires an inordinate amount of paperwork, or if the drug is temporarily unavailable from suppliers, among other reasons.

GE is also one of the main producers of the charging station for the Volt, so by forcing them on their employees they get to install the charging stations in their employees homes. My guess is the charging stations are going to be subsidized by the taxpayers. I say this, because the ones that are being installed along the I-5 corridor in WA are being paid for by the taxpayer.

My sentiments exactly! I actually thought that Santorum was auditioning for the VP slot last when he started a bunch of his answers by agreeing with or praising Romney. The moderator and the other candidates were very clearly trying to give Gingrinch as little opportunity to speak as possible. Romney, on the other hand, rambled out campaign talking points for several minutes every time he spoke and no one stopped him.

And it was my understanding that burning them was the proper procedure. Maybe they chould have consulted a “holy” person to conduct the burning. That was a mistake. But to KILL people over this? These are savages over there. Nothing has changed over the centuries and nothing WILL change. We need to leave and let them kill each other instead of US!

RC…do you really think Ron Paul would be a good choice for VP? REALLY?? He would be next in line for POTUS. He is almost 80 years old. Oh, and he is nuts. I wouldn’t want him to be selected even if it would win the election! He is the wrong choice. We have many many better ones who could actually step up and become POTUS after two terms. Having worked on military FOBS over in Iraq I can tell you there are quite alot of local nationals that work on the FOBS doing odd jobs (all part of the winning hearts and mind strategy I guess). I am sure they saw the Koran’s being burned and so a decision was made to release the information it would stave off the exagerated rumors that would have occured.

I had to laugh at it as well. It takes 30 min for a quick charge (at twice the price of a regular charge) and a regular charge will take between 4-6 hours. When you take in account sitting in traffic (draining the battery)a driver would expect to have to charge up during the commute. So you would have to add anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours to their commute time. That is also dependent on how long the line is at the charging station. From what I have seen they only have two “pumps” at the station.

The Volt actually has a gas engine as well, so it is more of a hybrid than an electric like the Leaf or Tesla. I don’t know about the Leaf, but if you deplete the battery on the Tesla you have to replace the battery at a cost of $40k.

And even if it’s about beating the Marxist-In-Chief, Romney is next to last on my list of candidates. I had him behind Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Santorum, Newt, Daniels, Christie, Palin and Paul Ryan.

Makes you wonder doesn’t it. When you combine the memo from JNap about vets and tea party types becoming terrorists, JNap monitoring sites like this one and Druge and the bill Obama signed allowing him to arrest and hold without trial or charges American citizens arrested in America for possible terrorist activities, it would not surprise me if we were all rounded up say mid October and held till just after the election. If we are being detained we cant vote.

If Obama is removing Congress from their Constitutional duties, isn’t that TREASON? Come on, folks…how much more do we need to hear about this traitor? He is an ENEMY of this country! He is getting away with things that should NEVER be possible by ANYONE in this country! This is why we have our Founding Document!! Last I heard, we still have it!

I can’t believe they still have the ability to go ahead with the obmacare agenda even though it is in the Supreme Court! There should be a HOLD on this! What if it is overturned (please GOD!). What about all the crap that has already gone through? This will be very hard to reverse.

Has ANYONE read the entire bill and reported on it? I mean, the WHOLE THING? A true patriot with an open mind must do this. Does anyone still even know what is in this bill? The harm to this country is becoming more clear every day and like a speeding train, it will be almost impossible to stop and reverse!

And as everyone expected, Obama blames everyone but his policies for the gas prices and even doubles down on his policies as a way out of the mess:

Obama sought to deflect growing Republican attacks over rising prices at the pump, blaming recent increases on a mix of factors beyond his control, including tensions with Iran, hot demand from China, India and other emerging economies, and Wall Street speculators taking advantage of the uncertainty.

The trio of proposals announced in Miami included a $30 million competition in natural gas technologies and a $14 million program to development algae-based fuel.

Obama repeated calls to roll back tax incentives for the oil industry, and urged Congress to renew a clean energy tax credit.

Of course, she had a head start on being stupid:

After drinking on the drive, and downing more drinks in the condo, it came time for Ashley to take her turn on a tank of helium that everyone else was inhaling to make their voices sound funny.

You are right, parents need to be keenly aware of what their children are doing and who they associate with, and provide the appropriate guidance.
