Gingrich: Obama Should Fire Chu
**Written by Doug Powers
Newt Gingrich is obviously calling for President Obama to fire Energy Secretary Steven Chu just for rhetorical effect. Obama and Chu are on the same page as far as energy priorities (or lack thereof) are concerned, so there’s a better chance Michael Moore will ask Domino’s to pink-slip their delivery boy before the pizza arrives at his front door tonight, but at least it’s being pointed out:
Newt Gingrich on Thursday called on President Barack Obama to fire Energy Secretary Steven Chu, citing congressional testimony this week in which Chu said his “overall goal” was to decrease U.S. dependency on oil, not lower the price.
“President Obama must announce today in his Nashua address that he is firing Secretary Chu and replacing him with a pro-American-energy appointment,” said a statement from Gingrich, who cited a POLITICO story about Chu’s appearance before a House Appropriations subcommittee.
I don’t know, Newt… after all, Chu gave himself an A-minus grade on managing taxpayer investments, in spite of billions of dollars that are either teetering on the brink or have already been vaporized in the carbon-neutral money incinerator. Calling for Chu’s firing might cause him to become disgruntled enough to show us how much a C-plus performance costs.
In 2008, Chu said that “we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” so his position here wasn’t surprising. Maybe Chu should even give himself some bonus points for honesty and consistency in order to raise that A-minus grade to an A-plus.
I’ll take advantage of this opportunity to re-propose a new pay structure for DoE officials: Every million dollars of taxpayer money that goes down the low flush crapper on one of their algae-powered flights of fancy should be accompanied by a dock in pay of $10,000 for the year.
Here’s Newt:

*Chu is the same mega-idiot that wanted roofs around the country to be painted white to lessen the effects of man made global warming; I say we fire all these enemies of free markets and the constitution come November!
the department of energy was started to lower our depenance on oil. but since it was started, by the former worst president in american history, our depenance has grown every year, and domestic output has been lower every year. so is chew doing his job, or not?
Guys like Chu are the reason I’m strongly considering holding my nose and voting for likely nominee Romney in November even though I can’t stand him and normally do not nose-hold (didn’t vote for McCain). Because it’s not just Obama vs. Romney. It’s everyone that comes with Obama. Every czar, every cabinet position (Hillary, Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sibelius, etc.), every justice nomination (including Supreme Court) which are for LIFE, vice president Biden, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder…the list goes on and on and on. It’s not just Obama, but every one of his stinking Progressive cronies that comes with him. If the price we have to pay is a wishy-washy, conservative-when-it-suits-him Romney, it will not be too high a price to clean the enemies of America out.
Barry’s entire cabinet should be behind bars, awaiting trial for treason.
Sure Newt, we’d like that. However,
what President would fire a Cabinet secretary who is doing exactly what the President wants him to do?
Also, Obama would replace him with a clone.
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Newt, your opportunism and lurching from populist issue to populist issue over the past three or more years is why I despise you.
Chu should have been fired and prosecuted for incompetence starting with the millions pissed away with Solyndra, and every failed green turd ObaMao pushed since then that has failed. Almost all connected to those who gave campaign cash to him.
Yeah, people will feel it paying outrageous gas prices because of these marxists, but billions in tax dollars have been laundered in his green energy scam.
And not a single average American will benefit, although their kids and grandkids will be paying the tab.
And not a single person connected to these scams have been held accountable.
Wake the hell up man!
As should Barry Soetoro hisself.
The government has been controlling our energy costs for years. Obama and his ilk are-sadly-using the power the citizens of the U.S. have given the government over those years. Obama now has the opportunity to drive us off a cliff and then claim to be saving us when we become the 3rd world country at the bottom.
Speaking of Romney has he published his “What I will do in the first 24 hours as President” plan?
And since the GOP changed the rules “after the game” in Michigan to give the win to him I’m guessing he will be candidate in November.
Was it McConnell that won’t bring up any bill this year to undo ObumerCare so it won’t upset Harry Reid?
WTF?
Is Newt the only one of the 4 that has the cajones to constantly bash Obumer?
With all due respect, my friends …
The lesson here is that it’s time for *us* to start rising up and protesting these things.
Picket, protest, call for the resignation. The Left has used those weapons for years because *they work*.
Newt is throwing down the gauntlet here. Let’s start making battle cries of these disgraces and put the Left on the defensive for the first time.
Newt is just doing political posturing, nothing to see here.
And just what is Mitt doin’?
The thuggery of Obumer and gang is gonna crush Mitt’s Mr. Rogers style.
Obviously no chance of Obama doing anything that would help the country, that’s not his goal. He’s trying to transform it into Odummerstan.
Chu fly, don’t bother me.
Gas prices have doubled since Obowtome became president. Rest assured, my friends, they won’t rest until they at least double again.
There are two possibilities.
1. They really expected these loans would kick start alternative energy and help to make it cost effective.
2. They didn’t care if it worked, it was just a way to funnel money to their political cronies.
So which is it? Naive and incompetent or corrupt and criminal?
None are mutually exclusive.
Only if Barry is there, too. And throw in Moochelle for spending money like a drunken sailor.
This is a puppet (Chu) controlled by a puppet (OweBowMao) controlled by an evil Wizard of Odd (Soros).
Chu just does what he’s told. Obama should be fired and long before the election. He stands in open contempt of the Constitution. He is also in direct violation of his oath of office, and has been so on a number of issues. Does that not qualify as “high crimes and misdemeanors”?
AG130, sure hope there are a lot more folks like you who did the same in 2008 but are reconsidering. I read in other posts that you are sincerely saddened by Breitbart’s passing. If you have a chance listen to his CPAC speech where he strongly encourages (stated mildly) folks like you to VOTE. We need ya girl, the country needs ya.
Errah, His “Minnie Me” in Maryland is Martin O’Money. He plans to lead the charge on getting gas prices in this state to $5.00 as quick as possible with a new gas tax. I’m seriously considering moving back to Taxachussetts!
Ah Chu! Spit. Wipes mouth.
If Newt doesn’t ‘make’ president, he’d be a great press secretary!
Everyone needs to understand what REALLY drives the $9-10 per gallon cost of fuel in europe. They allow their governments to add ~$6 PER GALLON of TAX to support their social welfare programs. They pay the same price for oil and refined products as we do, only we pay much less (~$0.19 federal and ~$0.45 state) TAX. And it’s not like they have anywhere NEAR the amount of infrastucture that the US has to maintain. With the exception of the UK, all of western europe is in one time zone (we have four). The countries are the size of our states.
For 0zero and his band of America destroyers to get our gas prices to “Europe levels” Mr. chu, you will have to TAX us or TRIPLE the actual cost of the fuel. As oil prices are set in a global market, that means the europeans will then be paying $15-17 per gallon. Good luck with that a**hole!
Rise up folks!
UNAFFORDABLE
is NOT acceptable
ENERGY POLICY
NOdemocrats2012
So, lessee, add, say, $.50/gal to punish those greedy oil companies sticking it to us, and……ta-da! $5.00/gal gas intantly becomes $5.50/gal.
Clue: businesses will pass along additional costs in pricing….especially when little or no real competition exists.
Liberal non-logic at work.
Technically, at face value, I have no problem with Secretary Chu saying that his goal is to reduce dependence on petroleum, not decrease its cost. That is a true statement. It’s the job of the Energy dept to map out the long-term plan that will shape the future landscape of American energy resources, and reduction of petroleum use is one of those goals. It’s the job of commerce, interior, and probably a handful of random czars to deal with oil prices.
I think that the consolidated way forward needs to be a comprehensive approach that starts with reduction of dependence on foreign oil by shifting us to domestic sources immediately (Dept of State and Dept of Interior, with some Commerce thrown in). It’s a matter of national security as far as I’m concerned. Next we put in place a phased approach to reduce petroleum usage over, say, 20 years, and let the free market start coming up with alternatives (DoE, Commerce, Interior, Transportation).
But like so many big-government flunkies, Chu’s response, in general, smacks of “don’t blame me, that’s another bureaucrat. Go to the next window, please.”
yes.
Obama should also fire the guy who faked his birth certificate. Shoddy job.
Errah
Errah, Aren’t they the ones responsible for getting us here in the first place??!! Last I checked they didn’t produce an ounce of coal, a drop of oil, a puff of wind, a ray of sunlight or even a loose electron. Only hot air inside the Beltway which can’t seem to be captured.
Errah, Until someone invents a reactor powered by government regulations I think we’re SOL.
Errah, This Administration’s mandating and regulating away fossil fuels and wishing we all could get around in vehicles powered by Unicorn farts is a policy that is as ill advised as it is is stupid.
Mr. (Chu) Wu: Bak Wai Lo Me… ****sucka.
Al (Owbowmao)Swearengen: Yeah, glad I taught you that ****in’ word. These are whites, huh?
[Swearengen gestures back and forth to Wu's drawing]
Mr. (Chu) Wu: HO! White ****SUCKA!
[Wu produces a bag]
Al (Obowmao) Swearengen: [Swearengen again motions back and forth to Wu and Wu's drawing] Two white ****suckers killed him… and stole the dope he was bringin’ to you!
Mr. (Chu) Wu: White ****sucka… YOU! SWIDGEN!
Al (Obowmao) Swearengen: The dope you were gonna ****in’ sell to me?
Mr. (Chu) Wu: White ****sucka…
Al (Obowmao) Swearengen: These two white ****suckers? Who the **** did it?
Mr. (Chu) Wu: Wu?..
Al (Obowmao) Swearengen: [Swearengen is completely exasperated] Who, you ignorant ****in’ chink?
Mr. (Chu) Wu: WU?
Al (Obowmao) Swearengen: WHO? WHO? Who stole the ****in’ dope?
Mr. (Chu) Wu: ****SUCKA!
Absolutely perfect for that job!!
They either don’t understand those “unintended consequences” or they really want this country to go stone broke and sent back to the 17th century. Electric cars without access to electricity just ain’t gonna happen, Mr. POTUS. Ya know??
Also, these bozos who castigate the oil industry forget how much in revenues the oil industry gives the government. Amazing how ignorant and short sighted these morons are! Absolutely mind-boggling!
Who will finance Big Government when we are ALL destroyed? I guess they haven’t thought that far ahead. Doh!!
bho should fire himself for appointing Chu.
The consequences are fully intentional. They want the USA and all the western nations to go stone broke and in their control, politically and economically.
Revenge on the evil imperialist nations for centuries of exploiting, stealing from and enslaving peoples around the world so we, in the western world, can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle of conspicuous consumption.
Now and in the future, if there is exploiting, stealing from and enslaving people to do, it’ll be our leftist elitist overlords of our glorious utopias to come.
(…as previously posted, elsewhere…)
…it is kind of WEIRD, that we now have TWO REAL (snake) OILMEN in the White House.
They sure seem he!!bent on ‘sopping up’ all the royalties and taxes….for their ‘downstream’ cronies. (NO relief, for us.)
Kinda brings a ‘tear’ to your eye….knowing they are ‘looking out’ for THEIR (so-called) friends. (Tears of rage, that is…)
Which leads me to: Where does the ‘sock puppet’ go….when led by another ‘chewed-up’ sock puppet? (Or, can ‘one’ idealogue actually LEAD another?)
(Reminds me of herding cats or pigeons. No offense intended, to the critters.)
Methinks ‘rambler’ is ‘almost’ correct; however (there is a LONG list of) WHO ‘teh oone’ should FIRE first…starting with Chu, Holder, Napolitano, Sunstein, DuBois, etc.
Both Obama and Chu did not know that this country has been running on coals and oils for the past hundered years. If they want to change people’s lives, they will have to resort to SS’s goose-stepping marching orders.
