Obama’s campaign bully brigade rides again

Obama’s campaign bully brigade rides again

They’re baaaaaaack. Barack Obama’s election-year goon squad kicked into high gear this week by kicking the president’s fiercest opponents in the teeth and targeting their pocketbooks. Returning to bully business as usual, the Obama campaign launched a brazen salvo against two prominent conservative critics and their legions of private citizen donors.
Let’s be clear (to use Obama’s favorite phrase): This is not just the politics of personal destruction. It’s a vendetta of campaign finance destruction. Under the guise of “disclosure,” Team Obama is exploiting the power of high government office to intimidate lawful, peaceful contributors who support limited-government causes.
In a scathing fundraising e-mail appeal, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina name-checked wealthy free-market philanthropists Charles and David Koch — along with a growing movement of grassroots conservatives who have freely, voluntarily and legally given money to the Koch-founded nonprofit activist group Americans for Prosperity and its sister foundation. As a speaker at several AFP events over the past three years, I’ve met thousands of like-minded, hardworking Americans who support their work at the local, state and federal levels.
The Koches’ sins are to 1. follow tax law and protect the identities of donors to their charitable organizations, and 2. exercise their free speech by funding advocacy ads informing the public about the Obama administration’s jobs toll destruction and failed green energy “investments.” (Their most recent TV spot zeroed in on the taxpayer-funded Solyndra bankruptcy.)
“When you attempt to drown out (Americans’) voices through unlimited, secret contributions to pursue a special-interest agenda that conflicts with what’s best for our nation, you must expect some scrutiny of your actions,” Messina railed. The threat of scrutiny was backed by Obama himself, whose official campaign Twitter account directed 12 million-plus followers this week to “add your name to demand that the Koch brothers make their donors public.”

But Obama’s own former top officials run a so-called super PAC (Priorities USA) that also maintains nonprofit status and subsidizes advocacy ads while protecting its donor base. The White House, of course, is mum on the unlimited, secret contributions that Obama is now encouraging wealthy liberals and lobbyists to make in pursuit of his own special-interest agenda — i.e., re-election.
The president’s flapping lips are also sealed when it comes to applying his disclosure standards to the shadowy, George Soros-backed Center for American Progress, which has supplied the Obama administration with countless top policy staffers, including special Department of Health and Human Services assistant Michael Halle and HHS Director Jeanne Lambrew, a former senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. CAP founder John Podesta was Obama’s transition chief, overseeing the backroom process of rewarding friends and allies with plum positions. CAP flacks shrugged off conflict-of-interest questions: “We respect the privacy of supporters who have chosen not to make their donations public,” CAP spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri said.
As for respecting the privacy rights of Obama’s foes? Not so much.
It seems to me no small coincidence that this disclosure charade comes just as numerous tea party organizations are reporting that the Internal Revenue Service has targeted them for audits. According to Colleen Owens of the Richmond (Va.) Tea Party, several fiscal-conservative activist groups in Virginia, Hawaii, Ohio and Texas have received a spate of IRS letters. The missives demand extensive requests to identity volunteers, board members and … donors.
This is B.O.’s M.O. His bully brigade did the same to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and its donors during the November 2010 midterms as payback for the organization’s ads opposing the federal health care takeover. And in 2008, Obama’s allies at a Soros-tied outfit sent out “warning” letters to 10,000 top GOP givers “hoping to create a chilling effect that will dry up contributions.” Witch hunt leader Tom Matzzie, formerly of Soros-funded MoveOn.org, bragged of “going for the jugular” and said the warning letter was just the first step, “alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.”
Matzzie also advertised a $100,000 bounty for dirt on conservative political groups “to create a sense of scandal around the groups” and dissuade donors from giving money. The effort was cheered by Accountable America adviser Judd Legum, founder of Think Progress — the same group that led the attack on the Chamber of Commerce and is run by Podesta’s Center for American Progress. Just as with the Obama super PAC led by former White House officials, Matzzie’s group “Accountable America” was a 501(c)(4) nonprofit entity that shielded the identity of its donors.
Oh, and remember this? In 2008, St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch and St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, both Obama promoters, threatened to bring criminal libel charges against anyone who spread what they considered “false criticisms” of their Dear Leader.
It is no small exaggeration to conclude that Team Obama’s dead aim is to chill conservative speech and criminalize conservative dissent. All Americans for prosperity must push back with one voice:
No, you can’t.

Pasadena Phil:
Just heard Rush expand on the George Will “surrender” article. He didn’t sound too happy. And he did his prediction in November of ’10, not last month. So this is a long-term conspiracy from this bastards, IMHO.
Granite, I have many ancestors who came here with literally empty pockets and nothing but a dream. They left behind everything and everyone! How many today could do that? I know I couldn’t!! Some of my ancestors came here as young folks whose parents were too old, or perhaps sick to make the difficult trip. I admire the heck out of them!! Talk about true courage and personal responsibility! And there were no food stamps back then. Food kitchens, maybe, but it definitely wasn’t the welfare state we have become today.
Happy, both sides of my family came from Ireland. That’s where I KNOW I got my feistiness from. The fact that my ancestors were killed, tortured, arrested and robbed by the English, reminds me that I must fight Obama and his minions with everything I have. His goons bring a knife, I bring a gun. That type of philosophy is ingrained in me. BTW, I am a Precinct Captain, chair and delegate in my area, Happy. Work within , you know what I mean?
granite:
You have no idea how right you are.
I have stated before that this country is more divided now than at any other time since 1860. The seeds that were planted in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s by the Left are coming to full bloom now, with what will certainly be catastrophic consequences. We’re staring at the barrel of a second Civil War. The first one cost 600,000 lives. How many will this one cost?
Maybe, maybe not off thread.
Good morning, MM Friends.
I don’t post here often, though I do read and admire you all (well, most of you). I also have never shared anything about myself, but I work in a liberal institution and have survived several years by keeping my mouth shut. However, I just tried to support Breitbart in my own way.
A really weird thing just happened. We are having an “event” today, attended by donors et al. I had one pop into my office and nearly the first thing he said to me was something like, “We have to get militant to stop these damn conservative from tearing down what’s left of this country. The SOBs are trying to force us to join their religions, give up birth control and abortions and trying to force Santorum and his radical views on us.”
For the first time ever, I suggested that maybe us conservatives need to get as militant as the liberals and stand up and save this country from doom. I then covered exactly who brought contraceptives and religion into the discussion and pointed out that it wasn’t us. The conversation went on for several minutes with him bouncing to subjects like how rich he is and doesn’t pay enough taxes. I told him to write a check. To how George Bush caused the real estate collapse and high prices. I mentioned the Community Reinvestment Act and he went over the cliff. He yelled at me that it was a damned lie and that I should use the computer in front of me to learn some truths. He is my first yelling, spitting and cussing liberal. I think I stood my ground though, because I laughed in his face and then he left.
I am both exhilerated and scared for my job. It felt good to Breitbart him though. There’s only so much you can take quietly.
If you correlate the rhetoric to the money, the GOP rhetoric just doesn’t ring true. It has been so obvious what the Republicans have been up to for so long that we can only conclude that it is a two-narrative one-party system taking the same dirty money to get this country to the same place.
The job of the GOP has been to silence those who are determined to stop this one-world-without-borders-under-one-government agenda. They lure us in by pretending to be the “conservative friendly” opposition party but then make sure we play no role at all in shaping the GOP platform.
Limbaugh has been very late to arrive at that conclusion and he still has to prove that he is not just carrying water for the GOP in herding conservatives into holding their noses every election as they go to slaughter.
Happy, agreed that likely the vast majority of immigrants, whether 400, or 100, or, in the case of the Vietnamese, less than 40 years ago; came here with not much.
I certainly did not mean to imply otherwise!
Hell, the people with “much” didn’t have as much reason to leave, unless they were being persecuted/attacked/discriminated against.
CH, I have felt that way for the past 20 or so years.
Sad, but true.
BTW, all of these calls to get Rubio on the ticket as VP is going to make it much harder to re-take the Senate in November. Let’s just stop worrying about the presidential election and get to work on Congress where we can really make a big difference.
Of course, the Breitbart tapes might take out Obama. Oh yeah, that’s being impolite to expect that all of those people who called for an “army of Breitbarts” yesterday really meant it.
Thank You, Snowfire, you made my day. Sometimes I too feel like the only sane one in a large libster family. Not to use too much happy-talk psychobabble, I just want you to know you are valued and supported here!
Thank you also to sicoit and infidel4life, scripture always helps.
Good to hear from you, David! And I’m sorry that my ancestors probably robbed and killed your ancestors! I’m just glad you aren’t a regressive, or you would probably want restitution from me!
Keep fighting! We need you!

Thank you so much. I needed that. All the time I overhear stuff like, “How could anyone not want everybody to have health insurance; that’s just evil.” To, “Well, I was in Europe during the last election and I tried not to let anyone know I was from the United States. I’m just so ashamed of this country.”
But the one today, came into my office and I felt like he attacked me directly.
God bless you, Snowfire, and continue to give you strength and courage! One at a time, we are winning! I remember working in a liberal company and feeling like I was in the Twilight Zone. One liberal was absolutely astounded when I told her I was a Conservative. She just couldn’t believe it! Ha!
Hang in there. And come back here any time you need some encouragement. If you lose your job for speaking your mind (you know, that old First Amendment stuff), get a lawyer!! I mean that! This intimidation crap has to stop.
And yes, AB would be PROUD!!
Instead of “win one for the Gipper”, we need to come up with a slogan that means the same, only with Breitbart. He was a tough SOB and we need to be just like him.
Happyscraper, I have long admired you. I am honored to have a reply from you. I do have iron skillets at home and I know how to use them.
A slogan to honor Breitbart, how about something like…
“Shine a Breit light on it”
Please add input.
Snowfire
You are the epitome of what AB was talking about, never back down. I would suggest many more of us follow suit and pick up where AB stopped. I work in the viper’s pit of liberalism the Veterans Administration. Don’t let the name fool you. I fight every day. Know what? I’m getting good at deballing liberals.
Well we could skip the WH bid and focus on the lower levels BUT Obumer has proved that the lower levels are not needed to get his agenda thru.
EOs and judge appointment go a long way to setting an agenda.
Uh Snow, happyscrapper is happy1. I am happy2, although I have been here longer, I think. Anyway happy2 fits because my name is happy2behere, thank you.
Breitbart would be proud of you. I don’t know if you have read his excellent book, Righteous Indignation, but in it he recounts a process he went through that is very much like your own; going from passively ignoring the Intolerant leftist bullies to actively taking them on – and the rush of courage and excitement it gave him that made it worth whatever adversity he would face. You may not last much longer in your job, but if you do, you’ll have a chance to fight the battle behind enemy lines – with words and facts, which are much stronger in the long run than intimidation tactics. Best of success to you.
What really makes me angry is when liberals “assume” that they can come out and spew their stupid opinions to anyone and everyone even not knowing how the other person feels. Like the liberal agenda is SO superior that they feel empowered to discuss it with all, and they are incensed when we disagree with them. Then, they are off into their insults and rants. No civil dialog. They have no idea how to debate in a rational way. We have some of that here with the trolls.
I remember I had a group of cousins who were sharing genealogy data with each other on the web. We had found each other from all over the country and had never met and didn’t know each other personally. All we EVER talked about was genealogy. NEVER politics or religion. It was an unspoken rule to not get into that stuff. One day, one of them sent an e-mail to everyone that said something like, “I am fuming! Just finished listening to that idiot Bush and I am sick to my stomach. I HATE him!!” Anyway, I responded TO ALL, that I disagreed with her and was frankly deeply offended by her comments. Well, she wrote back to ME only and complained that I had copied everyone on my response and she was “embarrassed”. I told her I felt I had the right to express my opinion to the whole group since she had! We ended up calling a truce, but I never respected her after that!
See, it is o.k. for them to spew their crap to anyone they want. But for us to to have the audacity to disagree is simply wrong!! Doncha know. Spit.
Way to go, Snowfire!
It’s unfortunate, but you are probably right to fear for your job. The university librarian in Indiana (I think) that had the temerity a few years ago to suggest a book for the collection that didn’t conform to Liberal orthodoxy was drummed out of his job.
Dot your ‘i’s and cross your ‘t’s. Don’t give them any excuse to can you.
I’ll keep you in my prayers.
But the Skillet Brigade is defintely her! I just use a a really big spatula.
Wow!! I love it! +250
Ding ding ding…we may already have a winner!
You’re right, Phil. Taking Rubio away from the Senate would be a huge mistake!! I think he would be an unbeatable addition to the ticket, BUT I don’t want to waste him in a VP position!! We need him as our next Senate majority leader!

I also thought of:
“Let your light shine Breit”
I thought of these phrases because Ms. Malkin always says that sunlight is the best disinfectant. Maybe Breit light is even better.
MNUSMCDavid:
My condolences for you working at the VA.
I’m sure you’re one of the only bright spots in the VA.
I had some dealings with the VA. I had one guy that thought he was really cute mispronouncing my name. Other things were serious. This was right after I got out of the Coast Guard. I gave up on the VA and went to private Drs.
Hi Happy 2!! I also wrote to her. So she was probably talking to both of us. Anyway, it is so good to hear from someone who stood up for TRUTH!! I am so encouraged when I hear those things!
By the way, in honor of Michelle Obama, my hubby and I are doing FAST FOOD tonight. McDonalds, or Subway, or, most likely, WHITE CASTLES!! I am praying our local White Castle doesn’t go out of business! I grew up on those gut bombs and they haven’t changed in 60 years!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT
That is totally what I meant. I think I’ll make a bumper sticker, or at least a sign for my office. Maybe it will counter the office upstairs that still has an Obama poster in the window.
Paratus
Roger that! Sad thing is, I’m a disabled vet and I’m in the system, and I’m still treated like dirt. Being in Vietnam, even THEY think I’m a loser… go figure. Secretary for Veterans Affairs Shinseki is a boot licker for Obama and it shows.
Semper Paratus!!! I’m in the Coast Guard Aux… just not active these days.
Or, “Breit light is the best disinfectant”
Put the sign in your office, but cover it with itching power. Someone will probably sneak in and steal it.

I may even like that better.
I know I am just flattering myself, but we could make a good team.
Reading this article and the comments makes it clear that Obama and his people are not just thugs.
They are legitimate CRIMINALS.
The hypocrisy is stunning. What’s more stunning is that the talking heads are either afraid to question this stuff publicly or they are complicit and cheering for these pieces of crap.
I detest that scum bag in the white house. If I saw him drowning, I’d not lift a finger to save him.
God Bless you for your time in Vietnam MNUSMCDAVID.
Sorry to hear you’re disabled, my heart goes out to you . Keep up the the good fight.
Semper Paratus brother!!
Once I was on a mission trip way out in the Amazon jungle and a group leader started preaching about “social justice.” I thought, “What does he think we are doing here, having a spa day?”
But there was no place to get away from it! And I was already fuming because his kids were right out of “Mean Girls.” So I quipped, “If your kids even remotely reflected that value, I might have listened.” And I walked into the jungle for awhile. Got eaten by lots of mosquitos, but was preferable to listening to that gasbag drone on about somebody else’s stuff.
The consequence may be initially painful, but in the long run, the lesson will be a blessing.
Where are you from? Before teaming up with anyone, I need to make sure they are made from good Norwegian stock, doncha know, you betcha!

The sign is now up in my office.
I have a sun and then below it, it says,
Breit light is the best disinfectant.
Around here, they will just think I can’t spell.
I love your sign and plan to do one for my office here at home!
If you are posting here from work, you need to be careful. You could get in trouble, especially if they are all libs!!
Oh, and having been married to a Swede is close enough! You are official. Besides, I have English, Irish AND Scottish in my line too!
Kudos to you for taking a courageous stand!
It is not easy to speak up in the midst of a majority of leftist co-workers when you know your job could be in jeopardy for doing so.

That’s why I hardly ever post. I’ll be careful. I’m getting off now. Lunch is over and I’ll finish out my work. I’m glad I can consider you and me as member’s of the same team, albeit from afar.
I’m also grateful to everyone who responded to my original post (#105). I certainly couldn’t say anything to anyone here about it and I needed to say something. Thanks for being my sounding board.
Just keep shining that breit light at work, Snowfire!
I sincerely hope you post again, Snowfire.
I am going to breitbart every single time I have to talk to a liberal. The day that Obeyme was sworn in is the day I became all Progressives’ worst enemy. They have the power of the press…well, okay. Then, I have power over my own tongue. No more silence, no more biting my tongue, no more trying to keep the peace. Once they start, it’s Katy Bar the Doors. It’s time to emulate Andrew!
Obama sounds like one tough politician – why do you people have a problem with a teeth kicking president?
ILMC #147
I think I’ll swoop and poop like you do.
Obama is a pansy.
Hey Ma, can I get of the tarp now? I’m pretty sure my fistula has stopped oozing!
Because it’s our (American taxpayers, employers) teeth he is kicking.
@#147
Now, take your meds, someone will show you out … thanks for coming …

Good to see everyone in a Breitbart state of mind !
ILoveMyMentalIllness: Who’s teeth is he kicking? You are such an imbecile! The only teeth he’s been kicking is the Constitution of the United States and all law abiding, taxpaying citizens. This limp wristed wuz couldn’t fight his way out of an empty room.
Good job, Snowfire! Get that fire in the belly going. We all need to fight the liberal left and their, ahem, followers on this site.
Ilovemycountry:
Is “teeth kicking president” a new way of saying he called up what the Fluke to hit on her?
Want to hear something hopeful?
While waiting to begin my work day at Buy-n-Large, I saw the TV in the break room displaying a story about OK wanting welfare recipients to be drug tested.
Now, I’m still opposed to this, but not for the reasons I imagined liberals would be. However, I heard several of the near-minimum-wage workers around me muttering agreement with the requirement. I fully expected them to be opposed to it. (as a reminder, I oppose it because it’s a camel’s nose in the tent. First the gov’t creates or promotes dependence, then it uses the expense of that dependence to dictate the dependents’ behavior.)
The Ethiopian guy I work with… the other night he leans toward me (he speaks in a hoarse whisper) and says something to me that made my jaw drop…
He told me that, at Buy-n-Large, there used to be different crews assigned to different duties… “… but since Obama, everybody has to do everything”. An astute observation, and not one I would expect.
Another co-worker openly admitted, w/o embarrassment, to being “conservative”.
I confess to being a bit of an unintentional snob on the subject, but I was of the opinion that people making near minimum wage (the “99 percent”) would tend to have more leftist views. It was encouraging to hear such people have even somewhat conservative views on issues. (of course, this is OK…)
Dude – this is not the Daily Kos; not a good place to append comments when you are stoned!

People this next election is the most important one in the history of our Country. Either we are going to head back in the direction of the Country that was envisioned, then created by the Founding Fathers, or we are going to become a country irreversibly heading towards socialism and a monstrous sized tyrannical federal government; leading eventually (but surely) to another civil war. Whoever our nominee is for the Repubs, we must support that person against Maobama and the members of his coup, or it’s game over for the United States.
Put me down for every word you just typed.
The Obama Administration: THUGCONSTITUTIONAL. (Constituted of Thugs)
We have the Senate, Phil, and in Florida Connie Mack has Bill Nelson in the low 40s.
He’s done, and if Rubio is on the ticket, the same people will probably vote in another FL republican.
Some elements of the left, though they’d never admit it in public, think that Obama is utterly doomed, so they are focusing on the Congress.
I would say we get 54-57 Senate seats, that number could hit 60 if gas prices, Iran nukes and inflation align properly. Two of three are said to coming before May.
I get your upset with the GOP, and that’s fine and you’re not alone.
Just don’t use that to buy into the lefty doom and gloom you hear about in the MSM, because thats all we’ll get for the next 10 months from them.
Good news. I just read in a magazine article that they’ve achieved the ability to clone adult humans, and also the scientists have managed to obtain a sample of Obama’s DNA…
So, this fall, we can run Obama II against Obama, and the country will get back on track again, once Obama is out of office.
Right? Right? Bueller?
Don’t freaking matter about getting Obama *out*. What matters is getting *conservatives* in.
Still haven’t gotten a clear answer on this:
Were Rubio’s parents citizens at the time of his birth?
Michelle was not complaining in the portion you quoted. What she wrote was descriptive, not condemning.
The point and complaint of the article was the double standard of attempting to invade the privacy of conservative donors while actively hiding the donors of Obama’s own similar organizations.
Of course, that’s as standard tactic for you immoderate Dems: ignore the main point while you set fire to your straw man. Care to address the actual POINT?
My understanding is: No.
Too bad, too. I think he would make an excellent president.
And when this House of Cards falls, it will come tumbeling arournd their necks.
I find it interesting that Barack Obama is in that same category but became POTUS anyway. Now, two wrongs don’t make a right, but don’t you think Obama needs to be fired for getting the job under false pretence and in direct violation of our Constitution? It will never happen. Yet, how much do you want to bet that Marco Rubio would be forced to resign under the same circumstances?
AND…Obama probably wasn’t even born in the U.S. He was definitely RAISED in a mooslum country and radicalized by communists.
Rubio, on the other hand, was born and raised in the U.S. to parents who became citizens shortly thereafter.
Which of these two should be leading this country?? Yet, Obama is “leading”, and Rubio will probably not be given a chance.
This makes me sick.
Granite — my husband’s family lore has his grandmother on that same ship — the Teutonic?
From what reading I’ve done on the “natural born citizen” clause, the Founders added it to the Constitution precisely to prevent someone like Obama from becoming President. I’m sure they also discussed the possibility that such a restriction would also exclude a Rubio, but obviously decided that it was better to have that restriction in place.
The country truly has turned upside down.
It really annoys me that the Republican party has earned the “Stupid Party” name. They’re more afraid of the fallout from doing the right thing than the fallout of not doing it.
How do we get these guys to grow a backbone?
God bless you, Snowfire, for standing up to the regressive thug who cursed at you. But it felt good to stand up to him, correct?

Maybe it is time to hang one of those iron skillets in your office or cubicle as a message to the regressives in your workspace. Maybe place a sign below it stating that the skillet is your weapon of choice for defense and for the correction/rebuke of fools. Just a thought.

This level of documented thugary and abject corruption, and all the RepublicRAT establishment ramms down our throat is RINO (“There’s not a dime’s worth of difference” Soros) Romney (aka Obama-Lite) because of a backroom deal back in 2008?!?!?
Exactly what one would expect of someone who runs for office knowing he’s ineligible. He also knows he has friends willing to break laws to help him. What has been stunning to me are the people who are supposedly opposed to his agenda who have helped him with the biggest fraud ever perpetrated.
The one honest law enforcement officer in the country says he has presented forgeries as proof of his eligibility and what do we hear from them?
