Obama to House/Senate Dems Regarding Campaign Funds: You’re On Your Own

What happened to “spread the wealth around”?

From Politico:

President Barack Obama has a bleak message for House and Senate Democrats this year when it comes to campaign cash: You’re on your own.

Democratic congressional leaders, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, have privately sought as much as $30 million combined from Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee — a replay of the financial help they received from Obama in 2008 and 2010.

But that’s not going to happen, top Obama aides Jim Messina and David Plouffe told Reid and Pelosi in back-to-back meetings on Capitol Hill on Thursday, according to sources familiar with the high-level talks. It was a stark admission from a presidential campaign once expected to rake in as much as $1 billion of just how closely it is watching its own bottom line.

Messina and Plouffe told the two Hill leaders that there would be no cash transfers to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee from OFA or the DNC, at least not before Election Day, the sources said.

According to Politico, Obama will have similar campaign moratoriums on his participation in fundraisers for, and appearances with, congressional Democrats. That may not be entirely unwelcome news for some.

I hear they’ve even canceled plans for a “Joe Biden dunk tank” fundraiser at the rallies of various swing-district Dems. Bummer.

In other fundraising news, Team Obama has called in some reinforcements:

Former President Bill Clinton has agreed to make joint appearances with President Barack Obama at a series of fundraisers, according to three people familiar with the matter.

The 42nd and the 44th presidents will appear together at events in the coming months in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, according to one of the people. The New York fundraiser is aimed at donors in the financial services industry [a nice way of saying "Wall Street bankers" without saying it - DP], said the person, who like the others spoke on the condition of anonymity because they hadn’t been authorized to talk about the events.

He said security and the possibility of protests were not factors in the decision, noting that Obama would still host the NATO summit in his hometown of Chicago from May 20-21.

Oh yeah, this just took up the first 10 minutes of the 10pm news on local All Borerack Channel affiliate WLS. I’m surprised Mayor “tiny dancer” Rahmbo isn’t stomping his feet in protest over it–he’s missing his big chance to ingratiate himself with the G8 ahead of his 2016 Prezuhduncial run. On that weekend in May the Sox and Cubs will be playing the first half of the annual Crosstown Classic at Wrigley and don’t laugh because that’s a big event in this city and even though the remaining NATO summit is at McCormick place which is closer to Baraka’s Cominskey Park on the South Side, there’ll be a lotta hyped-up angry drunken baseball fans crawling all over the city to clash with the protestors who still plan to demonstrate the NATO part of the summit.

Given that the make up of the House is in flux due to redistricting by Republican state legislatures and the Senators up for reelection rode in on the “Hate Bush” wave this seems like a practical move. But this makes even more puzzling the Republican Elite’s love affair with Mitt Romney. They have been telling us that if Romney is not the nominee the Republicans will lose the House and not take back the Senate. What does it say about their expertise if the democrats are now conceding Congress?

This proves two things: 1.) Americans vote their wallets and Team Obama knows that his dismal record on the economy cannot be defended, even w/ a billion dollars and the MSM in their back pocket; 2.) Obama is thinking ahead to his legacy and wants a second term w/ Republicans in charge of both Houses so he, like Clinton before him, can claim the role of “sagacious centrist” merely by approving most everything they pass.

It won’t work, though. For despite the media’s happy economic talk and cooked polls, too many Americans are hurting financially to ever vote reelect a failed president like Obama.

SNL–showcasing supposed “Romney sons” as a kind of “Stepford boys”.

Anybody notice that the new Batman movie’s villain is named “Bane”? Bain Capital, anyone?

And the NYPost ran an article yesterdayabout the Mormon practice of “baptizing” non-adherents…highlighting the “baptism” of Daniel Pearl–the Jewish-American victim of that horrendous videotaped execution by Muslim terrorists.

As Romney tightens the screws on the nomination, Obama’s unpaid (?) MSM and entertainment media is gearing up for the kneecapping of Mormonism.

Okay, Rich Lowery’s article at National Review just sent chills up my spine:

What could congressional Republicans do to stop the auto bailouts? Nothing. The Libya War? Nothing. The Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing? Nothing. They objected to the administration’s dithering on the Keystone pipeline, so they included a requirement that President Obama make a decision in an unrelated piece of must-pass legislation. He escaped this clever trap — by rejecting the pipeline.

This is the tale of congressional frustration when Republicans have been united. There’s no guarantee that they will remain so if their numbers diminish next year and if their standing with the public remains low. A cataract of tax increases set for 2013 will give the president invaluable leverage in budget negotiations. As ever, he will have outsized influence in setting the agenda. With one speech, he can take income inequality from an animating issue in Zuccotti Park to an animating issue in the national debate.

He will presumably replace the liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who will be 80 in 2013, with another liberal who will serve for another 30 years. If Justice Anthony Kennedy or Justice Antonin Scalia steps aside (both were born in 1936), he gets the opportunity to shift the balance of the court for decades.

There is no presidential election that is not said to be the most important in our lifetime. It was even said in 1996, when Bill Clinton won a decisive but not particularly consequential victory over Bob Dole. But Clinton had been chastened by the Republican sweep in 1994, and in a period of peace and prosperity, the country could afford to debate the meaning of “is.” Now, we are truly at an inflection point, between the Barack Obama and Paul Ryan approaches to government, between consolidation of the past three years of historic government expansion and rollback.

The downbeat musings on the right are driven by the dreary primary season and the belief that the party’s nominee will be weak. But so is the president, who leads likely nominee Mitt Romney only narrowly even after Romney’s season of self-inflicted wounds. For Republicans, the general election is still winnable, and there is no substitute for victory.

Even having majorities in Congress, there is too much damage the Executive branch can do. We MUST win the Presidency! I don’t care if Arnold Ziffel is the candidate! We MUST support him!

Ask the average citizen if he/she thinks he is “informed”. If they are like my sister, they will say yes. Then ask where they get their information. Most watch 1/2 hour MSM news like CBS, etc. in the evening and that is it. And they think they get all the news they need to be informed. People who THINK they are informed are worse than being totally UNINFORMED!

Big Joe to GOP candidates: The reason you can’t hear me is because you’re firing your mortars at your end, and they’re dropping here, on our end! No, 0bama’s not here! We’re here! Just lift your godd@mned barrage!

Yes, but the GOP needs to start firing more than just paint rounds. Trap the Dem Tiger, find their weak spot, and hit them with armor piercing rounds.

I’ve often wondered; if there is a limit on the amount “a person” can contribute to a re-election campaign, and party, how can all those fundraiser/dinners charge $35,000 a head? And, it can’t go to Superpacs, because it would violate federal election law.

Heh…this makes me think of “no honor among thieves.” Obeyme is either keeping this money for himself, helping out cronies who are working for his reelection, or squirreling it away to eventually pay off those who may finally vet him. This is how Chicago thugs operate. Those Dem ijjitts in CONgress who supported this tyrant in office should have known this would happen–no sympathy from me.

Sounds like Obama wants all the money to himself so he can be a step closer of becoming a dictator. He does not want to have a three ring circus running past 2013. Send him back to Keyna before Electorial College have a chance to vote him in.

I am not amused by those (Neal Boortz comes to mind) who say Obama would wipe the floor with Santorum and would clean Romney’s clock in the general election. WHY is there little mention of Obama’s flaws and vulnerabilities? He has as many, if not more, points to attack as either Romney, Santorum or Gingrich.
