Every day brings a new reason to be thrilled about Indiana voters finally showing Dick Lugar the door. The Lamenter of the Day is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who joins the list of liberal Democrats who don’t want to see Lugar go for much the same reason Bonnie and Clyde mourned the loss of the man who in a pinch would always agree to serve as their getaway driver:

I worry when I see dedicated patriots like Sen. Lugar drummed out by Tea Party zealots for being too willing to cooperate

Perhaps some cowboy poetry could help soften the blow?

I’ve heard from people who are worried that the Democrats might now have a better shot at winning the seat in November because Lugar’s out, but based on the political eulogies we’ve been hearing and where they’re coming from, it’s obvious that to a large degree the seat already belongs to Dems with Lugar in it. Time for a welcome change.
