David Axelrod gets his Jack Nicholson on in Massachusetts; Mitt Romney visits Solyndra in Wonderland

David Axelrod had some company at a press event in Massachusetts today, and the interruptions caused him to channel Jack Nicholson’s Colonel Jessup character from A Few Good Men:
A frustrated Axelrod, who was shouted down, tells the protesters “they can’t handle the truth.”
After his brief remarks, Axelrod asked for questions from the press but was met with more banter from Romney protesters with slogans like “where are the jobs?”
“You can’t handle the truth, my friends. That’s the problem. If you can handle the truth, then you quiet down,” Axelrod said.
The Obama campaign has been adrift when it comes to finding a campaign theme that sticks, but Axelrod might be onto a good bumper sticker. “Think you’re struggling? You can’t handle the truth!“

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney decided people could handle the truth, so he dropped by Solyndra:
Mitt Romney arrived at the shuttered headquarters of Solyndra Inc. this morning, a surprise visit that was shrouded in secrecy and part of the presumptive GOP presidential candidate’s attack on President Obama’s record on jobs creation.
“The reason for keeping it quiet is because we knew if word got out that Solyndra would do everything in their power and the Obama administration would do everything in their power to stop us from having this news conference,” an aide said in a briefing en route. “But taxpayers made a substantial investment in Solyndra, there are serious questions about what happened at Solyndra, why that investment was selected, what happened to that money.”
Great location for a speech on the economy of the last few years. If the place is still for sale Romney should grab it for use as his west coast HQ.
Somebody’s probably getting Chu’d out for not having taken down that sign before today:
