Team Obama knows they have an edge in support among the 18 to 29 crowd, but their problem is that many of them might stay home on Election Day. That means it’s time to get the MTV crowd fired up in a way that only a 47 year old actress best known from a show that ended production eight years ago can make happen.

“That guy”:

She left out a few…

“That guy.”

“That guy.”

“That guy.”

A dinner with Obama at SJP’s — there’s no better place from which to rally the peasantry for the coming battle against the one percent than over foie gras and cosmopolitans in a $20 million apartment.

It’s been asked if the ad cheapened the White House, but the question I had was even more embarrassing: Did it cheapen MTV?

If Romney wins on November 6, SJP’s spot during the MTV Awards will go more like this.

The above ad was preceded last week by a video featuring Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour promoting the same dinner. This had even Juan Williams failing to comprehend what the Obama campaign was thinking:

“And at the end of the evening I’ll have one lucky proletariat bathed in Tasmanian Rainwater and brought to my lair.”
