This just in from the “If a tree falls in a forest and nobody’s there to hear it, we make sure you do” department…

Joy Behar’s headed to Current TV to do a show on Al Gore’s network. I haven’t felt this compelled to avoid looking at something since I heard the doctor say “whoops” during my vasectomy (which I understand actually had more viewers than Current does these days).

Sayeth the Goracle:

“Joy Behar is a beloved veteran television personality with her finger on the pulse of what viewers care about,” commented Current TV Chairman and former Vice President Al Gore. “Millions of Americans tune in daily to hear her take on the issues along with her inimitable style.”

Millions of Americans tune in daily? Not so much. As Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters pointed out, low ratings are why the plug was pulled on Behar’s HLN show.

Gore might be referring to the number of people watching Behar’s other program, The View. If he is, the Goracle’s in for a surprise. People don’t watch The View because of Joy Behar, they watch The View because… well, I’m not exactly sure why. But the point is those few viewers won’t follow Behar to Current just like Oprah’s large number of viewers didn’t follow her over to OWN, the channel right in between the colon cleanse infomercial and the “Daily Briefing” show on the Jockey Shorts Network.

Current’s lineup will now include Press, Granholm, Spitzer & Behar. If the cable network thing doesn’t work out, Gore can just turn it into a foundering liberal law firm.

Behar’s show, which I’m giving the running title “Disagree with Me and You’re a Bitch,” will begin airing regularly in the fall — that is unless Current is cancelled before then. No word yet if Behar’s contract demands include paid vacation on “Black Friday” so she doesn’t have to mention that racist tradition.

Meanwhile, Twitter reacts, then gets distracted by something else that might actually matter.
