David Axelrod in 1994: President golfing while trying to convince voters economy is improving gives impression he’s out of touch

Here’s a flashback courtesy of the Daily Caller that’s a nice fit with current events:
Video from 1994 has surfaced of David Axelrod, President Obama’s chief campaign strategist, calling former President George H.W. Bush “out of touch” for “tastelessly” playing golf while trying to convince voters that the economy is improving.
“Bush tastelessly did it, often from the ninth hole, and from the cigar boat and other places,” Axelrod said.
Added the adviser: “The impression you got was that he was out of touch.”
More recently, George W. Bush played 24 rounds in eight years (all early in his first term), and over the weekend Obama completed his 100th round in three and a half years. Using the Axelrod method, Obama is over eight times more out of touch than Bush was, or something like that.
Roll tape of the forward-thinking Axelrod offering the RNC material 18 years later:
