Much of the 2012 election focus lately has been “who will be the VP nominee?” One party, the Green, has mercifully lifted that suspense and put an end to the speculation. Truth be known, I learned who the Green Party running mate was before I knew who the Green Party candidate was:

Running with Dr. Jill Stein, a politically inexperienced doctor, is formerly homeless single mother and poverty activist Cheri Honkala. The Greens welcomed about eight journalists to meet Honkala, their vice presidential nominee.

The all-female ticket is currently on the ballot in 20 states and the District of Columbia. It doesn’t include Roseanne Barr, the pugnacious and outspoken comedienne who had sought the party’s nomination earlier in the year.

At the announcement, the press gallery was bustling with reporter:

The duo’s slogan is “A ‘Green’ New Deal for America.” Think “Works Progress Administration ” with kumquat powered hybrids and jobs created via construction of a border fence around Oklahoma made entirely from unsold Solyndra solar panels, all paid for with a weekly national lottery where ten lucky green progressives will win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rub eco-friendly wax on Al Gore’s private jet and limo fleet.

Here’s the Green Party veep announcement:
