Will Harry Reid also demand the Dems burn Ralph Lauren’s campaign donations?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently called on anybody with a match to burn Team USA’s Olympic opening ceremony uniforms because, as it turns out, they were stitched together in China.
They were made overseas? That’s terrible! Let me guess… the people who caused the manufacturing to be outsourced were from Bain Capital, right?
No, it was somebody else:
The company who designed the uniforms, Ralph Lauren, has received less scrutiny. Few outlets have noted that Ralph Lauren himself is a prominent contributor to President Obama and the Democratic Party.
Reid was quick with his call to burn the uniforms, but will he call on his own party to torch the large donations from this particular outsourcer?

And of course some of Lauren’s donations to the DNC made their way to the champion of cowboy poets everywhere:
In the case of Lauren’s contributions to the DNC in 2009 and 2008? Where was that money going?
That’s right. To someone named — Harry Reid.
Specifically, the DNC gave its money to Reid in this fashion:
• $888,768 on October 19, 2010 for a Media Buy — TV
• $23,000 on October 19, 2010 for a Media Production Estimate
• $13,500 on October 26, 2010 for a Media Production Estimate
• $1,066,954 on October 26,2010 for a Media Buy- TVSo in other words, both President Obama and Harry Reid are and were taking money in the form of campaign contributions that came from outsourcing Ralph Lauren clothes.
A group of Dems are now planning to introduce legislation that would require official US Olympic Team clothing to be made in America.
I’m not a big fan of the uniform design — as a matter of fact the Team USA risks being mistaken for Pan Am flight attendants circa 1960′s — but Senator Reid’s got some skin in the game now. Put up or shut up, Harry. Call on your fellow members of Congress to burn those Ralph Lauren campaign donations, at least until the USOC’s policy change takes effect.
