Rahm Emanuel’s office: He never said he’d block Chick-fil-A from opening here, just that their values aren’t Chicago’s

Previously, Rahm Emanuel didn’t seem to be mincing words about keeping Chick-fil-A from opening another restaurant in Chicago — comments his hometown paper took to the woodshed. Now, for whatever reason, his office seems to be backpedaling — or maybe “chickening out” would be a more appropriate way to put it:

Emanuel press secretary Tarrah Cooper called Friday to clarify the mayor’s stance on whether a Logan Square Chick-fil-A location would be vetoed because of the company’s views on gay marriage.

“He never said he’d block the restaurant from coming,” Cooper said.

Earlier in the week, the mayor seemed to back a plan from Ald. Joe “Proco” Moreno (1st) to prevent Chick-fil-A from opening a second Chicago store after chain President Dan Cathy recently vocalized his stance against gay marriage.
To clarify, Cooper said Emanuel still believes “their values are not Chicago values.” But that doesn’t mean he would block them.

Not wanting to waste time and money while risking embarrassment defending a sure loser in court must also be one of Emanuel’s Chicago values.

Nancy Pelosi: “For the record, I prefer Kentucky Fried Chicken.”

Really? PETA, do your stuff.

And as usual, Sarah and Todd Palin are ignoring memos from the left:
