Here he comes to save the day: Jimmy Carter to address Dem convention via video

When I read that the Democrats had successfully convinced Jimmy Carter to speak to the convention, I thought they meant the Republican convention. But apparently there was no such Romney punking in the works. Carter will address the Dem convention by video:
Former president Jimmy Carter won’t be attending the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, but he’ll address the gathering by videotape.
“Rosalynn and I regret that we will be unable to be at the Democratic Convention this year in Charlotte. However, we remain steadfast in our support for President Obama and the progress he will make in the next four years,” Carter said in a statement released by the Democratic convention.
Carter, who has spent his post-White House years devoted to humanitarian efforts, will offer “unique insights” on Obama as a global leader on Tuesday, Sept. 4, according to the statement.
Though the official schedule has yet to be released, sources tell me Carter’s address will be shown at approximately 4:45 a.m. — just after Michael Dukakis’s speech but before Anthony Weiner’s “Tweet your meat lose your seat” social media seminar. All these events will be closed press.
Hopefully Jimmy reprises his famous “mourning in America” rallying cry.
