Obama targets new villain: Romney-Hood

Maybe he’s just tired of the Robin Hood reference being applied to him, so it’s time to put those green tights and feathered hat on somebody else for a change… with a twist:
Unveiling a new zinger against his opponent, President Obama tonight said Mitt Romney’s tax plan amounts to “Robin Hood in reverse” because it would take money from the poor to help the rich.
“It’s Romney Hood,” the president said to uproarious laughter and applause from about 500 supporters who paid $500 each to attend a fundraiser in Stamford, Conn.
That’s not an entirely new concept. But if memory serves, the “rich” people Robin Hood took from were public officials who were wealthy because they were corrupt and stole from the people they were supposed to be serving. To say Robin Hood “took from the rich and gave to the poor” is about as accurate as Kevin Coster’s accent in the 1991 movie of the same name. Brave Sir Robin didn’t redistribute the wealth, but rather returned to people what government had stolen from them. “Robin Hood in reverse” would be the Sheriff of Nottingham, and apparently right now there’s only room for one sheriff in this town.
Meanwhile, the president spent yesterday proving he wasn’t a hypocrite. While claiming that Romney would take from the poor and give it to the rich (?), Obama was taking from the rich and giving it to… his campaign:
After an intro by Weinstein calling Obama “The Paul Newman of American presidents”, POTUS also praised The Newsroom’s Aaron Sorkin. The fundraiser was hosted by Hathaway, Sorkin, Paul Newman’s widow Joanne Woodward, and Weinstein at the producer’s Connecticut home. Tickets went for $35,800 each. The 60 guests included Vogue editor Anna Wintour and TV talk show host Jerry Springer.
And the fundraiser even deprived the rich of the use of an entire beach for the day. Tally ho!
Twitchy has more on Romney Hood.
