Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland will stand-in for Paul Ryan at vice-presidential debate practice with Joe Biden. The person who will play the part of Joe Biden at the actual VP debate remains to be seen. As of this morning that person is still Biden, although it would appear Joe’s been encouraged to spend the weekend winding down in Wilmington over coffee at Katie’s Restaurant.
More from The Hill:
Van Hollen’s stand-in role is fitting — the Maryland Democrat serves as the ranking member on the House Budget Committee. Rep. Ryan (R-Wis.) is the chairman of that panel.
The debate between Biden and Ryan is scheduled for Oct. 11.
And we can’t wait. Although the veep aide who will be operating the Gaffe-Stoppr™ remote shock collar Biden will be wearing that night is reportedly pretty nervous.
Biden really whipped faux-Ryan in the first practice debate, but don’t lend that much credence because I read it in a press pool report that was written by Joe Biden.
Speaking of that, Biden’s staff editing pool reports is a practice that is outraging many members of the MSM to such a degree that they’ll hesitate briefly before getting in the tank for Obama again this year:
NBC’s Chuck Todd today called on the White House press corps to stop allowing the White House to edit their pool reports, following a report by POLITICO’s Jonathan Martin noting that aides to Vice President Joe Biden had tried to edit the VP’s controversial remarks.
Pool reports are “by the press, for the press,” Martin told Todd on MSNBC’s Daily Rundown. “We send it to them to review it, and they go through there looking for potential landmines.”
“I think we’re going to have to change this system, this is an outrage that they do this,” said Todd, explaining that the only reason the press corps did so was because the White House was the fastest means of distribution.
Think about it: The Biden we’ve been reading about in pool reports is the censored version.
