Obama deputy campaign manager: Entertainment Tonight of equal importance with White House press corps

Tapper’s not gonna like this response. This morning during questioning about dodging the White House press corps in favor of People Magazine, ESPN, Entertainment Tonight and local reporters, Stephanie Cutter said that ET and the WH press corps are “equally important.”

Video via Buzzfeed, which also features another video of Robert Gibbs claiming Obama hasn’t been dissing the White House press corps because he took “a question” from one of them a while back:

If ET and the WH press corps are equally important, then the latter better get busy reporting on Jennifer Aniston’s engagement! And why aren’t People Mag and ET allowed a seat in press briefings? Doesn’t America deserve to know Jay Carney’s take on Hollywood’s hottest bikini bods, Ryan Lochte’s search for the perfect girl and how Jenny McCarthy’s doing post-breakup?

But Cutter wasn’t finished this morning. Before posting this second part I had to check and re-check the date to make sure it wasn’t an older story, but nope, Cutter is still denying prior knowledge of the details of Joe Soptic’s wife:

Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter pushed back this morning on “This Week” against any suggestion that she knew the details behind the the death of a woman whose husband, Joe Soptic, appeared in a third party advertisement attacking Mitt Romney.

The advertisement, which essentially places blame on Romney for the death of Soptic’s wife from cancer, was paid for by Priorities USA, a super PAC that supports President Obama.

“I didn’t know the facts of when Mr. Soptic’s wife got sick, and I only recently learned that through all of the hysteria over that ad,” Cutter said “But, Jake, what I do know is what Mr. Soptic’s experience was with GST Steel, after Mitt Romney bought it, loaded it up with debt, overleveraged it, paid himself excess profits and fees, but then forced that company into bankruptcy, leaving Mr. Soptic without a job, without health care, and without his pension.”

As everybody in the free world with the exception of Stephanie Cutter knows, in May she hosted a conference call during which Mr. Soptic told the story. Another overlooked detail is when the GST Steel layoffs occurred, Bain was headed by an Obama bundler.
