Transparency! White House might release Obama’s… beer recipe

Now that everybody is back to work and the economy is humming along like a well oiled machine, it’s time to turn the discussion to the White House’s homebrew recipe. A Freedom of Information Act request has been filed, but the White House Honey Ale recipe remains a secret… for now:
As ABC News has covered before, the honey ale first came to light when President Obama served it to his guests at the White House during the 2011 Super Bowl, and then again on St. Patrick’s Day. Most recently, it became known that the president carries the beer with him on the campaign trail, where he offered a bottle to a potential voter in Iowa.
“I am not aware of any plans at this time to divulge the secret recipe,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said yesterday when asked about the recipe.
But last night on twitter, Carney wrote that enough people signed the “We the People” petition, the recipe would be released:
“Got a Q today on @wethepeople petition asking us to share WH beer recipe: wh.gov/4y9b If it reaches the threshold, we’ll release it,” Carney tweeted.
There’s a 25,000-signatures threshold.
So far the petition has just over 5,000 signatures, and if it goes much higher Obama may or may not invoke Executive Privilege to keep the brew recipe a secret.
Don’t brush it off as a meaningless intentional distraction. The White House is acutely aware that Franklin Pierce’s approval rating went up six points after releasing his apple pan dowdy recipe.
If the White House’s recipe for beer is released and you make some, just remember, you didn’t brew that.
Unfortunately, the White House shared the recipe for disaster with the general public quite a while ago.
