Suggested first question from VP debate moderator: Joe, can you ask Barack if he had a good time at my wedding?

Martha Raddatz of ABC News will moderate tomorrow night’s VP debate. With much of the mainstream press, there’s often a “six degrees of separation” element involving said reporter and a person, place or thing on the liberal side of the spectrum. Sometimes there are just two or three degrees of separation and a Cuisinart with a gift receipt. Such is the case here.
In 1991 Barack Obama attended Raddatz’s wedding to Julius Genachowski, who was years later, after the couple divorced, Obama’s choice to be FCC Chairman. ABC News is in downplay mode and putting out word to select media outlets that for the Daily Caller to report this and cause anybody to think a potential for bias exists because of it is absurd:
On Monday evening ABC spokesman David Ford grudgingly confirmed Obama’s attendance at the wedding, after shielding Raddatz in August by declining to comment when The Daily Caller first reported the story.
“This is absurd,” Ford said, in the same statement now circulated by ABC’s media allies on the left.
Obama, Ford wrote, “attended their wedding over two decades ago along with nearly the entire Law Review, many of whom went onto successful careers, including some in the Bush administration,” he said without providing a specific number of Harvard Law Review employees to verify the statement.
It was over 20 years ago and all, but there’s one way to figure out if suggestions of potential moderator bias are “absurd” or not. Let’s change it up a bit: Assume the veep debate moderator is from Fox News and it’s been learned Mitt Romney attended her wedding years ago. Would “what’s the big deal” be the reaction of Democrats? No, by now this hypothetical moderator would have been discharged from that duty and the debate moved to a different network to be refereed by a reporter who would avoid any appearance of impropriety by virtue of having no discernible ties to either the Democrats or Republicans… like George Stephanopoulos or somebody like that. Or maybe Brian Ross?

(Update: MM) I took a lot of heat for my Journo-Tools for Obama column questioning the rigged debate moderator game.
Absurdities indeed abound!
