David Axelrod: Given the available intelligence at the time, anybody would have said what Susan Rice said days after the attack

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Obama adviser David Axelrod was in his usual non-answer form, but he did say something a bit odd even for him. Moments after claiming that President Obama referred to Benghazi as an “act of terror” from nearly the moment it happened, Axelrod went on to defend others in the administration for claiming four days later and based on the available intelligence that the attack was not premeditated but was instead the result of a spontaneous protest over a video. Axelrod’s version implies that Susan Rice (and Jay Carney for that matter) don’t consider President Obama’s public statements to be a credible source of intelligence.

Axelrod also refused to say if President Obama met with his national security team before heading to Las Vegas for a campaign rally within 24 hours of the attack — so we all know what that non-answer means.
