The only question I have is what took him so long?

Former Vice President Al Gore warned in a blog post today that Hurricane Sandy is a “disturbing sign of things to come” if the world doesn’t quit “dirty energy.”

At 1:21 p.m. ET, with large swaths of the Northeast still swimming in the storm’s mess, the Current TV founder and environmental activist published a statement asking the public to “heed this warning and act quickly to solve the climate crisis.”

“Sandy was also affected by other symptoms of the climate crisis,” Gore wrote. “As the hurricane approached the East Coast, it gathered strength from abnormally warm coastal waters. At the same time, Sandy’s storm surge was worsened by a century of sea level rise. Scientists tell us that if we do not reduce our emissions, these problems will only grow worse.”

And if you’re the type that demands confirmation from a more credible scientific source before you’ll believe a claim from Gore, Meghan McCain is backing Al up on this all the way. As a matter of fact, Van Jones thinks the right owes Gore an apology.

Here’s where it gets confusing: About a year ago, Al Gore announced his support for Occupy Wall Street. Today, this from Occupy Wall Street’s Twitter account:

The Gore-endorsed group is calling for more hurricanes? Maybe the Goracle and OWS have teamed up for an enviro-scare version of “good cop, bad cop” to help sell carbon credits or something.

Ed Driscoll at Instapundit points out that OWS might want to re-think a world without power — how would they Tweet their approval?
