But of course: Nancy Pelosi supports giving Obama unilateral debt ceiling authority

This isn’t a surprise at all, especially considering that Pelosi not only believes there shouldn’t be a debt ceiling (during Democratic administrations only), but that having a debt limit is unconstitutional.

From the Daily Caller:

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner presented a proposal to congressional leaders that raises tax revenues by $1.6 trillion and includes the presidential power to raise the debt ceiling, which is the amount of the government can borrow to pay for legislation passed by Congress.

TheDC asked Pelosi on Friday if she agreed with that aspect of Geitner’s proposal.

“Yes,” Pelosi said at the Capitol, during her weekly press briefing.

The national debt went up over $5 trillion during Pelosi’s speakership, and she’s eagerly looking forward to a time when congress doesn’t have to operate under those kinds of ridiculously tight constraints:

The question was in reference to President Obama and Turbo Tim’s initial bid in the fiscal cliff negotiations, a non-starter that proposed giving the White House unlimited debt spending authority without congressional approval combined with billions in new stimulus spending. Republicans reportedly laughed at the offer, dubbed “déjà vu all over again.”

As for spending cuts side of the equation, on the House floor last week, GOP Rep. Rob Goodall outlined President Obama’s plan:
