Happy Christmas Eve, all! I’ve got some family gatherings going on today and tomorrow, as do many of you. For today we’ll do a little roundup of items in the news for some holiday discussion until we’re back up to more full speed later in the week.
Here are a few things I ran across earlier today:
–The White House is expected to respond to a petition to deport CNN’s Piers Morgan over his gun control views. The petition now has over 40,000 signatures. However, the British don’t seem to want him back. Because of that, Morgan issued this video response addressing why he should be allowed to stay in the states:
–At the Hawaii funeral of Senator Daniel Inouye, dozens of mourners were reportedly hospitalized after going into shock when President Obama suddenly and unexpectedly mentioned Daniel Inouye.
–Here’s a real surprise: President Obama has been named CNN’s “Most Intriguing Person of 2012.” In justifying the honor, CNN cited Obama’s successful presidential campaign and his steadfast refusal to deport Piers Morgan.
–”Rudolph with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my Volt tonight”: The Obama administration has cleared Santa’s new “fuel efficient” flight plan.
–A Gannett-owned newspaper in New York has published the names and home addresses of every person registered to own a handgun in two counties. It’s being called a blatant intimidation tactic against gun owners, but on the other side of the coin, the paper has provided burglars with a treasure trove of information about which places to avoid.
Brownell’s Inc. says the company sold three and a half years worth of ammunition magazines in just 72 hours. The Obama administration is expected to demand that a full repeal of the Law of Unintended Consequences be included in any fiscal cliff package the president signs.
–Via Twitchy, here’s the screen cap of the day:
Action News is saving their “are sloppy joes sexist?” and “tater tots: tasty oven-baked bits of homophobia” exposés for Feb sweeps.
–A man in Sweden is reportedly receiving disability benefits for an addiction to heavy metal music. I’m told there’s treatment available for the disorder in the Yngwie Malmsteen wing of the Betty Fjord clinic in Goteborg.
This time of year, some people are hard to shop for, but others are real easy to please. Pass the Fritos.
–Penn Jillette schools a couple of libs.
And finally, from Reason TV, it’s A Joe Biden (War on) Christmas:
