David Gregory’s hard-hitting question for Obama: Is this your Lincoln moment?

Hey, nobody thought that a man under investigation for felony gun law violation would be allowed within a mile of Obama unless he was also going to serve as a human spring board for a presidential dive into the pool of faux humility, did they?
From Noel Sheppard at Newsbusters:
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Winston Churchill used to say that we Americans, you know, we try every other option before we finally do the right thing. After everything else is exhausted, we eventually do the right thing. And I think that that’s true for Congress as well. And I think it’s also important for Americans to remember that politics has always been messy. People have been asking me a lot about the film “Lincoln” and you know…
DAVID GREGORY, HOST: Is this your Lincoln moment?
OBAMA: Well no, look, A, I never compare myself to Lincoln and B, obviously the magnitude of the issues are quite different from the Civil War and slavery. The point though is is democracy has always been messy.
Gregory’s interview confirmed that there’s no Lincoln/Obama comparison — not unless Pops Gobright personally blocked Abe’s hat and shined his shoes before filing stories with the AP.
Obama also said Benghazi was due to “sloppiness.” Was that the title of the video?
Below is the entire segment. I wonder why Gregory didn’t whip out any banned gun components for dramatic effect during this interview:
