Politico is running a lengthy article about the outgoing Senator and incoming secretary of state entitled “John Kerry: Mr. Climate.”
Readers won’t even make it to the fourth paragraph before running into things that contradict the title:
Kerry has spent years working on the issue in Congress and around the globe. His name was on the last real climate-change legislation, a Kerry-Lieberman bill that never made it out of the Senate. He’s a regular at international conferences, once flying halfway around the globe to spend a few hours on the ground during U.N.-led talks in Bali, Indonesia. And he, like outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, will have the ability to explain the world to the Senate and the Senate to the world.
As I often ask, haven’t these “environmentalists” ever heard of online meeting services?
As the New York Times pointed out in October of 2004, “Mr. Climate” is a regular Ed Begley, Jr.:
In winter, he goes helicopter skiing while staying at his wife’s Idaho retreat, a 15th-century farmhouse transported from England and reassembled on the banks of the Big Wood River in Sun Valley. In summer, he windsurfs and sails off the coast of Nantucket, where she has another home. The couple have an 18th-century town house in Boston where the kitchen is two stories high. There is a 23-room town house in Washington, an 88-acre Pittsburgh area estate, a private Gulfstream jet and a personal staff of six, including caretakers and a cook.
Carbon footprint? More like carbon meteor crater. Change the name of the subject of the story to “Romney” and would Politico or anybody else be referring to Kerry either then or now as “Mr. Climate”?
In the next four years, look for “Mr. Climate” to work closely with Al Gore, Michael Bloomberg and Leonardo DiCaprio in order to save the planet one private jet flight around the world at a time while simultaneously making man-made global warming the most expensive self-fulfilling prophecy in history.
