Minnesota Rep: Give me a break, I didn’t know ‘Uncle Tom’ is a racially denigrating term

The SCOTUS ruling on the Voting Rights Act was released this morning, causing the left to move John Roberts from the “brilliant adjudicator” column back to “hated Bush appointee” status. After the 5-4 ruling, Wisconsin Minnesota Democrat State Rep. Ryan Winkler wrote a tweet that he later deleted which said in part “VOA majority is four accomplices to race discrimination and one Uncle Thomas”:


After some blowback, Winkler’s excuse was as weak as they get:

There’s only “some debate about it” if you actually have an uncle named Tom.

Winkler’s feigned surprise emanates from an all-too-common belief on the left that it is impossible to be racist towards conservative minorities.

He also tweeted this:

We should at least hand it to Winkler for finding a way to prove his own point.

Here’s the sound of all the people at MSNBC who find racism in every corner coming to the defense of Clarence Thomas:
