The jury in the trial of George Zimmerman is now well into their second day of deliberations. So far there is no indication that a decision has been made, or if they’re even close to one. Be sure to check Twitchy for coverage of breaking news from Sanford, Florida.

While the jury deliberates, here are some related stories open for possible discussion:
–Rev. Jesse Jackson urges restraint regardless of Zimmerman verdict.
–Is the White House also urging restraint regardless of the verdict? Last year, President Obama said “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Yesterday, amid rising tensions, the White House refused to answer questions about Obama’s stance on the Zimmerman trial.

All Some”: Audio of a Justice Department staffer in Sanford, Florida urging action against George Zimmerman.

This from CNN:
An employee of the State Attorney’s Office who testified that prosecutors withheld evidence from George Zimmerman’s defense team has been fired.
Ben Kruidbos had been on paid administrative leave since May 28 from his job as director of information technology for the State Attorney’s Office.
He testified before the trial began that Trayvon Martin’s cell phone contained images of Martin blowing smoke, marijuana, and deleted text messages regarding a transaction for a firearm.
He received the termination letter, dated July 11, on Friday, the same day jurors in the Zimmerman trial began deliberating.
The defense believes Kruidbos’ testimony is relevant because it supports their claim that the state violated rules of discovery.
The whole story here. Hmm.
—-Alan Dershowitz: “These prosecutors should be disbarred.”
This is a few days old, but if you haven’t seen it, here’s a PSA from the Broward Sheriff’s office that basically says, “after the verdict is announced, if there could be no rioting, we’d really appreciate it”:
