We need gang control, not gun control; Update: Arrest in Delbert Belton murder

I said it on Wednesday night, while debating a young “progressive” talking points robot about the horrific murder of Chris Lane by Crips sign-flashing thugs:

We need gang control, not gun control.

We need impulse control, behavior control, and moral guardrails reestablished in this country.

I pointed out to the Dembot that lawless gangs don’t need guns to wreak havoc on innocent lives. They use machetes, mob wildings, their bare fists.

On Thursday morning, I talked again about the thugs’ total disregard for the rule of law and the sanctity of life.

And on Thursday afternoon, news broke of a devastating murder that proved my point. Chillingly. World War II vet Delbert Belton died of a barbaric beating at the hands of two young thugs in a “random” attack.

Police say two teens assaulted 88-year-old Delbert Belton outside the Eagles Lodge in North Spokane Wednesday night around 8pm. Belton was rushed to the hospital where he was placed in the intensive care unit but later died. Police are actively searching for two suspects. They are described to be 16-19 in age, black males & both wearing black clothing, one was wearing a black “Do-Rag” police say.

Atrocities like this happen every day. Unfortuately, American hero Delbert Belton will not make frontpage national headlines the way Trayvon Martin did.

John Hayward has another reminder:

Another case that got very little national media attention, during the waning days of Trayvon-mania, was the murder of black Chicago teenager Darryl Green, whose relatives say he was killed for refusing to join a gang.

It may come as a surprise to many readers that the Crips have a presence in Oklahoma. According to NBC News, the local sheriff, Wayne McKinney, says “there has been an escalation in major crimes committed by people under 18 in recent years” in this rural community. ”That is alarming that we’re seeing those type of crimes,” Sheriff McKinney added. ”I don’t think it’s unique. It’s something we’re starting to see nationwide.” That seems like something our “civil rights leaders” should be focused on, rather than repealing Stand Your Ground laws, doesn’t it?

Also, while the mainstream media labored mightily to avoid reporting it, there is considerable evidence that Trayvon Martin’s father was either a member of the Crips, or had a fairly recent fascination with gang culture. The narrative of the Zimmerman-Martin story was written to present Trayvon Martin as entirely innocent, almost angelic, to the extent that old photographs were employed to make him look younger than he was at the time of his death. Martin’s behavior, and the role of his parents in his upbringing, were swept completely off the table, even though they have broader and more lasting significance to our national social debate than searching George Zimmerman’s history for microscopic particles of racism.

Remember: Some crimes are more equal than others in the eyes of the left-wing agenda media.

Fortunately, social media provides a counterbalance — and truth-seekers and truth-tellers are using it to make sure victims of politically inconvenient crimes are not forgotten.
