If you’ve been busy, here’s the Syria situation in digested form:
–Obama draws the red line saying chemical weapon use will draw military response
–Syria crosses the red line
–Obama claims “the world” drew the red line, not him
–Kerry says U.S. open to negotiation with Syria; gives them one week
–Russia seizes opportunity to keep Assad in power and offers to barter deal with Syria
–Harry Reid compares Assad to Hitler
–U.N. holds casting call to decide who gets to play the coveted role of Neville Chamberlain
Back to the “red line” for a minute. President Obama drew the line, and then when things started getting dicey, he said he didn’t draw it, but rather it belonged to “the world.” Now the Obama administration and other Dems are starting to reclaim ownership of the red line. Jay Carney started “spiking the red marker” this morning:
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday that a reported deal between Russia and Syria on chemical weapons was a potentially “positive development,” and he credited the threat of a U.S. military strike with bringing it about.
“We see this as potentially a positive development and we see it as a clear result of the pressure that’s been put on Syria by the fact that the president has been moving forward,” Carney said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when asked about the breaking news.
Nancy Pelosi agrees that now there might not be a strike on Syria because the president is a badass:
Thanks to Pres. Obama's strength, we have a Russian proposal. We hope that it is credible and real, and therefore progress.—

Speaking of “credible and real,” if this is true, somebody is being played:
