Joe Biden, Neanderthal Spotter

Leading Democrats are really working hard to unify Congress. Yesterday Harry Reid spoke of Tea Party “anarchists” in Congress, and Joe Biden has upped the ante while patting himself on the back as the person with the greatest understanding of the two legislative bodies in history:

“I’m going to say something outrageous,” Biden said at a party at his home in Washington to celebrate the 19th anniversary of VAWA, according to a media pool report.

“I think I understand the Senate better than any man or women who’s ever served in there, and I think I understand the House. … I was surprised this last time … The idea we still had to fight? We had to fight to reauthorize [VAWA]?”

Biden then blamed “this sort of Neanderthal crowd” in the House for initially opposing the legislation.

If Biden’s trying to kick-start the “war on women” meme there are some more recent examples he could use.

Meanwhile, Biden has cancelled a planned trip to Panama in order to stay in DC and focus on Syria. Now that’s a relief. What that situation needs is greater involvement by somebody else prone to making reckless statements.
