Maybe family members of men slain in Benghazi should seek information from Al Jazeera instead of the US government

At yesterday’s Benghazi hearing, Utah Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz wondered how in the world Al Jazeera obtained a copy of the investigative panel’s report before Congress:

At a Thursday House Oversight and Government Reform hearing on Benghazi, Chaffetz asked Mark Sullivan, the chairman of the Independent Panel of Best Practices, how lawmakers in Congress could have learned about the report on Al Jazeera.

The report found that the State Department knew of security problems in Benghazi and failed to do anything about it. Chaffetz said Congressmen still do not have the report while Al Jazeera America has had it for a month.

Also at yesterday’s hearing, all but two Democrats on the Oversight Committee walked out before family members of those killed in the attack testified:

Some of those Dems probably fear being put into the position of being told to look at family members, such as the mother of Sean Smith in the video below from yesterday, and tell her it’s a “phony scandal”:

These poor people are going to the U.S. government for answers when, according to Rep. Chaffetz, they might get more information by asking Al Jazeera what happened.

All that’s certain is that this isn’t nearly enough of an explanation, and yet it’s all we’ve gotten so far:
